I only wish we could still have pride in our country. If the forefathers could see america as it is now they would cry. They would cry for what the men of the revolution sacrificed. Yes we may have had freedom for a long time. But now those freedoms are either taken for granted or stripped from us. I am one who is in favor of hun control. A very controversial topic. Everyone (republicans) assume that when I say hun control I mean take the guns away. No. I don’t mean that. I mean psychopaths shouldn’t be able to get their hands on a weapon. Individuals with nothing to hide should have no issue with their guns being registered. Which is more important to you? Your right to own a gun you’ll likely never use to protect yourself and only use for fun, or your child possibly being spared a school shooting? That’s my take on it. And the second amendment was created in a time where we didn’t have anywhere near the amount of violence we have today. Times change. And sometimes we need to adapt and evolve with said change. As for our freedoms being stripped. We can no longer speak freely without someone (democrats) calling us racist or transphobes. If we disagree slightly then we’re bigots. I can barely post anything on Reddit anymore that doesn’t get flagged. This country isn’t what it use to be. I remember being a little girl in the 2000s. It has changed so much since the recession. Even in the early days on the recession it was still a wonderful country. An amazing country. We didn’t have all these school shootings. Yes they happened. But they didn’t happen every other day. There wasn’t a lot of social media back then, but even in the news you didn’t hear about many school shootings. We didn’t hear about transgender people, katelyn Jenner wasn’t even transitioned back then. I’m not saying our system wasn’t broken, but we were not much more broken than anyone else. Now we are falling apart and on the brink of a civil war. I wish I could be proud to be an American. I respect our military, I myself had two uncles in Vietnam, but our government and our politicians have turned us against each other. What is there to be proud of in a system where everything has become an agenda and citizens are just pons in said agenda? Before anyone makes any bold assumptions of me, I am neither democrat nor Republican. I see things from both sides. I don’t think guns should be taken but monitored. I think gay marriage should be legal but not indoctrinated into our children, just as heterosexuality shouldn’t be indoctrinated. So I am on both sides. But it is for that reason that I couldn’t vote. At least not for the time being
