One day i will own one.
Fascinating video! I just took ownership of a beautiful TOA-130, the same type of scope being built in this video. It's amazing to see how they are built by hand, gives me even more honor of owning one.
Yes, they are proud of that they keep their traditional method going. It is very hard work specially hot summer. They keep going :)
Amazing
No wonder my second Tak is taking so long to arrive. Amazing work. I hope they have some apprentices in the background.
Really easy to see the major impact of proper alignment in this video.
My dad met the owner of takahashi when he was travelling in japan and it is amazing to see the factory he visited 25 years ago in action.
My home in Japan is about 15 miles from Takahashi factory. I've never visited them yet. Someday, I would like to visit them and say "Thank you" :)
This video is amazing, too bad there isn't a better resolution. i will try to subitulate to Spanish and English. I tried to look for the original source of the video or something but I didn't find anything even in billi billi
Hi Francis, original program was broadcasted in 2009. I asked a friend of mine in Japan to record them and he sent me Blu-ray disk years ago. If I find the original disk, I have higher resolution video :)
@@tamijihomma8776 WAh! I have already translated half of the video, after the remaining half and adjustments at the precise moments in the minutes it will be ready. Thanks, what you say would be great. Takahashi telescopes are more revered than one expects.
Glad to be owner of one of this jewel. coupled with a good Televue eyepiece, it give me the best views of the sky i have even seen :)
Thank you for your comment. Yes, I know Takahashi and Televue give me smile, too :)
Takahashi makes good eyepieces as well.
@@ratnamaravind I unfortunatly never had the chance to try eyepieces made by Takahashi.
Thank you for sharing this!
Once I got know about Takahashi telescopes since in love . For me not easy to afford it,yes I know its a premium telescopes in the World Salute to Japanese craftsmen ship.
Aqui no Brasil se o preço for ok, vende como água.
Wow what an awesome video, this is pinnacle of hand craftsmanship to perfection. Thanks for sharing. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 wonder if the English version is available.
Thank you for comment. As far as I know, English translation wasn't made for this video. There are a few other UA-cam video available. The Takahashi factory is about 10 miles away from my home in Japan but I have never visited them yet.
@@tamijihomma8776 I am glad to know, wish to own a Takahashi in future.
What is the weight and length of this telescope as shown here? I want to load a 152mm doublet refractor, f5.9, 25lbs.
When the scope is fully loaded with binoviewer, it weights around 30lb. It is TMB 130SS.
@@tamijihomma8776 thank you, are you happy with the Losmandy tripod or would a larger tripod be better. Like the Berlebach Planet.
@@carpenoctem1480 Planet is definitely sturdier than stock tripod of AZ8. For 6" f/6, I would go with Discmount DM-6 with Planet or Losmandy FHD tripod.
Am I seeing what I think I’m seeing 2 100mm Swarovski ? You went and did it tammi , I knew it wouldn’t be long once you got the 100mm or at least I hoped it wouldn’t be . I follow you on cloudy nights forums when looking for the newest latest greatest optics and Astro gear discussion . Thanks for posting this video ! Scott
They come in 85,95,115 so guessing he went 115 binoscope. Absolutely incredible setup
Hi Tamiji , I read your posts on Cloudynight and very inspired by your optics collection/ kit. My (modest)goal is to try and create big eye twin spotters using pair of either ED82 -S nikon or Kowa TSN824.
It would be almost impossible to make binoscope with regular straight-through spotting scope with 80mm aperture since it would require very wide IPD. Swarovski ATX objective module binoscope became possible since objective module is just refractor, not including prism/eyepiece so that EMS unit can be attached to objective modules. It is still backfocus distance challenging so that not all eyepieces are usable.
I’ve since made Kowa 664 ED binoscope, inspired by Adams Adapters in Arizona, USA. Based on many users they say they’re better than BTX85 and compare favourably to Highlander. Just today I watched workmen erecting a wind turbine from 5 miles out.
Wow, that's great, congratulations, it's the first time I've seen Venus so clearly, what telescope do I use? regards
Hello, thanks for comment. I think it was taken with Swarovski Spotting scope ATX 95.
You would have benefitted from reading the FreeBSD wiki. FreeBSD 13 was released before Unmatched boards were available (and since no SiFive developers care about FreeBSD support, only Linux, Linux gets a head start as they write the drivers for it internally based on pre-production boards before anyone outside the company has access to them) so does not support it, though support may be backported ("MFC"-ed) to 13-STABLE and thus make it into a future 13.1-RELEASE. wiki.freebsd.org/riscv/HiFiveUnmatched (linked from the main wiki.freebsd.org/riscv page) documents the work that has been done to make -CURRENT support the Unmatched back when the board first shipped, with most of the support done within a few days of receiving the board (and I kept the wiki page up to date with my progress). Those patches are currently sitting in review (you can see the list of them) so aren't yet upstreamed but for convenience my GitHub fork is linked that has the patches in it. Several other Unmatched owners have successfully booted using my tree.
Hi Jessica, thank you for your comment. Yes, I am aware of your work. I have tried your patches on my box. I had some issues with Ethernet Tx timeout. I haven't had a chance to investigate it further. The booting FreeBSD 13 was just for fun early June. I wanted to know how far it runs. I was surprised to see Beastie :) Day job keeps me busy so I don't have a chance to try FreeBSD further on Unmatched board.
Wonderful! Craftmanship of masterpieces! Have several of these now, great performing scopes!
Can I ask, what boot image did you use? What was involved in installing FreeBSD 13 on the HiFive Unnmatched?
Hi Jesse, it is FreeBSD-13.0 risc-v disc1 image on USB flash drive. It is from ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/riscv/riscv64/ISO-IMAGES/13.0/ Non of FreeBSD released image boot on Hifive Unmatched yet. I am waiting for beta test call from FreeBSD developer in case they have something to try :)
@@tamijihomma8776 Have you considered running a snapshot of -CURRENT? Given that the HiFive Unmatched didn't even begin shipping until late May 2021, it seems plausible that more recent FreeBSD builds will be better at supporting the hardware. e.g. ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/snapshots/riscv/riscv64/ISO-IMAGES/14.0/
ありがとうございました。 日本語が少しわかります。 (マンガのファン(字幕))…でも、なかなかわかりませんでした;)残念ながら今回は字幕がありませんでした。 そして、レンズの製造に関する部分が非常に短いのは残念です。 Merci.
Awesome look at the making of my telescope - Takahashi FS--102.
What kind of eyepieces did you use?
It is with Kowa TE-11WZ and 1.6x extender
What filter were you using?
It is with this solar prism diagonal www.baader-planetarium.com/en/solar-observation/safety-herschel-prism.html Here is setup. pbase.com/tammyhomma/image/166066309
@@tamijihomma8776 Thank you for you very quick and informative reply. I’m not familiar with the solar prism but I am assuming you can select the wavelength, in this case something between 500-570 nm. Do you recall exactly? The reason I ask is because of the apparent total lack of surface features such as granules on the suns surface. Can you supply more information about the band pass used? Thanks in advance!
@@nohphd The blocking filter is Baader 540nm filter. There is excellent description of the filter on Company7 web site. www.company7.com/baader/options/solarcontinuum.html
@@tamijihomma8776 thanks again for the very quick replies!
Hi Tamiji. kumar from Canada one question if you dont mind...can I mount a Explore scientific 152 mm refractor and a celestron 11" telescope on the other side? and if my partner wants to watch same time can we both watch the same star ? thanks
Hi Kumar, those big scopes are too much for AZ8. I don't think you like the result, I mean shaky...
Hi Tamiji I came across this forum www.cloudynights.com/topic/431640-swarovski-atx-95-vs-tmb-92ss/ and wanted to ask you a question about Swarovski ATX95. How do I reach you? thanks
You can ask me here :) Or you can join Cloudy Nights and send me PM (Personal Mail) or ask it on forum :)
Hello... See I rightly, are the AP- Traveler 105mm f/6EDF, that you loaded of the RST135 Mount? I wanted to know sapwre what was the part that is mounted on the Canon T2-Adapter tube w? Are the Flatt-Field and after the Reduction lens AP possible? Many thanks for your gentle answer. Greetings from Switzerland
It is AP flattener with AP EOS adapter for AP Traveler on RST-150H, not RST-135H, though.
My eq5 does this WITHOUT a threaded slowmo knob. It uses special viscosity grease. So there.
Thank you Mr. Tamiji Homma I am an astronomical team member of Rainbow Robotics. I hope you have time to enjoy astronomical observations with the RST-150H. If you have any questions, please email to us. We are always open.
Thank you for your kind words. I am sure I am going to ask some questions as I get more familiar with RST-150H :)
Hello Again:Thank you for posting this. In your other video, it seems like the slow motion for the altitude axis was a bit shaky as if it slips. Were you able to get that fixed? Would you recommend the Losmandy AZ8? In this video it seems to work just fine and looks like a very strong and stable mount, and not all that heavy, either.
Hello again: It's seems to be a slow motion slippage on the azimuth axis!
Hello! I'm seriously considering purchasing this mount, but I've only just heard from one of the shops that the Losmandy AZ8 has a problem with the slow motion mechanism. Is that the jumping, slipping I'm seeing in the image here? I'm hoping that's not the case but it sure seems to be.
That is so cool!
