My first real date took me to the Stein Club January 1989....I was only 20 but they didn't card me but I didn't order alcohol anyways. It was a really cool place, first bar I had ever been in. We dated for 12 yrs. His father went there often to play chess. They both have passed away now. And the Stein Club is gone....Midtown just isn't the same.

It was one of many places to hit back in the day. I didn't see much special about the place but many did. That's cool. They had some guys there who would engage in serious chess matches from time to time.

I have to comment, this was not a strip club and Maude never served beer there. I enjoyed going here every day lol, till 1983 about cheetah II was down the street and Moe's and Joe's. I have great memories of this place. My favorite I think is the day the tornado swept down Piedmont and they had the bar open all night for a candlelight tornado party.

I have one and it works perfectly! It sticks to the table like glue with the rubber feet and balanced just right so the cables wont tip it over. Also, I can read the board labels perfectly in this position - where when the board was flat, I have to stand and lean over it. Great product and worth the bucks! - GtarGreg
