For “Phil” to use the term “Illegal Immigrants” to refer to a specific group of people is disgusting, inappropriate and shameful. For him to say that on a public format indicates he’s either not very intelligent and struggles to differentiate what’s appropriate and inappropriate or he’s just plain out mean and evil spirited. Either way I question why producers and decision-makers would choose an individual like this to represent their investment. Remember, to overlook inappropriate behavior and refuse to publicly denounce it will be interpreted as your acceptance of it and will promote the likelihood of it happening again.

Phil and the others failed to mention that trump and his cultists are challenging the citizenship of Native Americans and African Americans as well. Some Natives have been detained and had to prove they're citizens. One woman getting killed doesn't mean minorities lose their status. I've got two daughters. They would never run around in the woods alone without a means to defend themselves. Not trying to blame the victim but you have to be able to defend yourself when you're out in the world. Especially when we have white folks ready to use her death as a hammer on the Constitution.

You think it's ok for children to be traumatized and ICE to terrify people in churches and hospitals where people are sick and dying because " We are going to have some 'tough times' ? We are talking about Georgia residents who have not committed any crimes. CHILDREN! Senior's, people dying from cancer, new mothers.WAhat is your solution to all the america citizens who commit fare more crimes than immigrants. You support a president wuth 34 felony's, took our top secret military document's and shared our top secret nuclear strategy with an Australian who then told over 40 people. It is so frustrating to watch this show when Alicia Thomas Searcey is filling in. Her constant interruptions and childish comments make it impossible to have a constructive and reasonable debate on the issues. I don’t always agree with Cathy as an example, but she is respectful and allows people to have their time to finish their statements before she provides input.

Your comment shows that your views on Alicia have nothing to do with the show. Phil interrupts every single week, including today's show with Alicia. If you are a regular viewer, then admit the multiple times that Tharon has needed to say something along the lines of "Let me speak. I let you finish." It's time for Phil to go, but unfortunately he's leaving on his own terms and they need a full blown Trump supporter to keep viewers.

Bottoms tolerated the armed roadblock at University and Pryor, even instructing police to not terminate it for days. It resulted in the death of 8 year old Secoria Turner. Then police chief Shields chose to be a politician and not honor her oath to keep the peace by obeying Bottom's ludicrous instructions to allow the roadblock to remain as long as it did. They have a suspect in custody and have had him in custody for a few years now and he has not been tried. DA Willis is apparently afraid that the trial would make Bottoms look bad. Bottoms is a terrible pick for governor and is a purely political and reprehensible individual

To the entire panel: I'm not entirely happy with either major political party . We need another party. A party that respects individual, natural, God given rights. Both parties are hypocritical on free speech for instance. Some Republicans are even supporting red flag laws and no one in the Trump administration that I know of has mentioned eliminating civil asset forfeiture or mentioned the equitable sharing loophole of the civil asset forfeiture statue that amounts to law enforcement being able to essentially engage in legalized armed robbery. RFK Jr is disappointing, not because of his stance on vaccines, but because he's a dishonorable womanizer that played God with his wife's remains against her family's wishes after he had asked her for a divorce and drove her to suicide. He's also a gun grabber and is an abortionist. A few years ago, Trump was heard mentioning how radical RFK Jr was, but RFK Jr is now a Trump nominee? We'll see if the deportation operations lose steam when we're not paying attention, as I fear they might. Im in favor of a 25 year moratorium on immigration unless absolutely essential, and that would be rare. Give Americans incentives to have more children. Malita, be honest, if you're going to knock on the proud boys ( and I'm NOT a fan of them ) , let's not forget the Antifa violence that occured. As far as prosecutor Johnson is concerned, this shouldn't surprise any honest, observant individual. Prosecutors frequently are dishonest. There's entirely no way to resolve 97% or so, of cases with plea bargaining and be purely honest. See you next week

Georgia's criminal justice system is at a crossroads. While the state grapples with the challenges of mass incarceration, high recidivism rates, and racial disparities, comparisons to states like New York highlight both opportunities for improvement and proven strategies for success. By addressing sentencing practices, expanding educational opportunities, and implementing a tiered reentry program, Georgia can foster a justice system that prioritizes rehabilitation, equity, and public safety. Educational Opportunities: A Proven Path to Success New York's investment in prison education programs offers a blueprint for reducing recidivism and promoting successful reentry. Initiatives like the Bard Prison Initiative and Hudson Link for Higher Education in Prison enable incarcerated individuals to earn degrees, resulting in recidivism rates as low as 9.9% for participants compared to 24% for non-participants. These programs not only reduce crime but also transform lives and communities. Georgia, however, lags in providing robust educational opportunities for incarcerated individuals. While some reentry and cognitive programming exists, the state ranks lower than New York in the availability and effectiveness of prison education programs. Expanding educational access-such as GED courses, vocational training, and college-level classes-could significantly reduce the odds of reoffending by up to 42.5%, while fostering a culture of personal development and self-improvement within prisons. Sentencing Practices and Recidivism: Learning from New York Georgia's reliance on mandatory minimum sentences, particularly under the "Seven Deadly Sins" law and the "three strikes" law, leads to disproportionately long sentences and limited parole opportunities. These practices often create a sense of hopelessness among inmates, diminishing motivation to engage in rehabilitation. In contrast, New York's emphasis on individualized sentencing and rehabilitation correlates with lower recidivism rates and more successful reintegration. A key reform for Georgia would involve reducing sentence lengths, eliminating mandatory minimums, and expanding parole eligibility. Implementing a system of earned time credits, where inmates reduce their sentences through educational, vocational, or treatment programs, can incentivize positive behavior and prepare individuals for life after incarceration. Proposed Tiered Reentry Program for Georgia To address systemic issues and improve outcomes for incarcerated individuals, Georgia can adopt a tiered reentry program that combines evidence-based practices with targeted reforms. The program would include: 1. Earned Time Credits: Expand the Performance Incentive Credit (PIC) Program, allowing inmates to earn credits toward early release by engaging in self-improvement activities. 2. Case-by-Case Parole Consideration: Introduce individualized parole assessments for those serving mandatory minimums, evaluating factors like rehabilitation progress and behavior. 3. Gradual Reintegration Phases: Develop a structured transition from high-security facilities to transitional centers, where inmates can participate in work-release programs and access community resources. 4. Enhanced Educational Opportunities: Prioritize access to GED courses, vocational training, and college programs, significantly reducing recidivism and equipping individuals with marketable skills. 5. Post-Release Support Services: Offer comprehensive resources like job placement, housing assistance, and continued education to support long-term reintegration. The Fiscal and Social Impact of Reform Georgia spends over $1 billion annually on corrections, yet these investments fail to address the root causes of crime or reduce recidivism. Redirecting resources from costly infrastructure projects, such as Governor Kemp’s proposed $600 million for prison construction, toward rehabilitation, education, and reentry programs would yield far greater returns. Research indicates that halving the prison population by 2025 could save Georgia over $1 billion-funds that could be reinvested in education, healthcare, and community development. By learning from New York’s successes and implementing a tiered reentry program, Georgia can create a criminal justice system that prioritizes rehabilitation over punishment. These reforms-focused on education, individualized parole consideration, and post-release support-offer a roadmap to reduce recidivism, promote public safety, and restore hope for incarcerated individuals. The time for meaningful change is now, and Georgia has the opportunity to lead the way in building a smarter, more humane justice system.

Keep Malita coming back. Her viewpoints are not purely partisan, unlike Woolard's. Neil Boortz would be a perfect panelist if he were not retired and getting long in the tooth. Get someone like Boortz. Lori, keep Brian and Malita. Ditch Alisha , Phil, Tharan and Kathy Woolard. Zoller, comes across as too much of an insider. I'd like to see her less often. I get enough of her from her radio show, which I like. By the way , Tharan is irritating. When did HE become the arbiter of acceptable speech ? Let Tharan say what he likes, but let him afford the same right to everyone else, without his ' verbal footnotes '. Get a " man on the street " and a female equivalent, a well spoken common man and woman. The show needs some fresh perspectives. Due process is a concern, Malita, but proving citizenship should be pretty straightforward and deportations should begin for those unable to prove their status. Human rights applies to all, in spite of status. They have a right not to be beaten, starved or otherwise abused as they are taken to the border and deported. Malita is right about private prisons. It's a good ol boy boondoggle. Phil is wrong about private prisons. We don't need them. In fact , we need to focus on families and that in the long run decreases the need for more prisons , overall. Four percent increase for COs is a joke. The lion's share of increases will go to the upper echelon of the department of corrections, the very people who allowed many of these problems to fester in the first place . Anyway, have a nice week, everybody 👍
