Your engine needs a nice cleaning.
3 minutes without any useful information. How about some part numbers or tips and tricks for removal or torque spec somthing useful
Thank you for the video
Why not make them all stainless?
The 2.4 le5 vvt engines do not have those small holes on the intake manifold
Get someone with a very small arm and they can fix it with a wad of bondo. 🤪
would you considered purchasing the same manifold brand new from Toyota? I have same issue. Id hope that the manufacturing was corrected over the years..
I don't know if it was corrected...aftermarket may be also ok , but due your research.
Oh the parts cost me $60 at the junk yard
Mario, bro OMG you saved me $1800 dollars. I took my car to a Toyota dealership and had it diagnosed...sorry techs told me they weren't going to charge me bc they couldn't figure out where the sound was coming from..SMH and we're suppose to trust that they know what they're doing. Thank you so much my 03 Camry is quiet AF..problem solved😘
You are welcome 😊
Why don't you show to viewers how the noise sounds before you cutting it in half. So people can learn it. LOL
Sorry...wasn't planning to make a video so all I can tell you is that it sounded like a valve clatter right on the intake assembly , like a diesel engine sounds.
Hi I have been searching everywhere to find out what the torque is for the intake manifold bolts. Its almost impossible for some reason with google to find info on the verano. Anyone know the torque (ft/lbs&nm)??
Between 7 & 8 ft lbs
Very helpful, thanks a lot 😊
Good video! I know it does not address cleaning the other orifices at the top of each runner, but at least it helps clear the center orifice without removing the entire intake. Search... DON'T remove Equinox/Terrain intake manifold. PCV hole Super Easy Fix ((or)) Equinox/Terrain 2.4L Ecotech Clogged PCV Orifice Quick Fix Without Intake Removal
Too many short drives and cheap oil are a huge contributor to this problem. Especially in the Winter, high humidity creates condensation in the crankcase that doesn't stay hot long enough to vaporize and evacuate during a drive cycle. Then the moisure builds in the fresh-air side at the air box and freezes sealing the crankcase, causing the main seal to blowout.
Thanks for this!
You clean it and it will clogge again, there is no way of fixing this issu.
Great information to know 👍🏿 I’m currently on my journey with this repair myself. 2007 Chrysler Aspen 5.7l HEMI
Hey bro did you ever get your aspen dialed in on the exhaust manifold/bolt issue? I have a 08 aspen limited w/5.7 and have the same issue I think, anyways I have the same sound,I was thinking if I have to remove to repair/replace, why not go for aftermarket long tube headers, but I've not been able to find anything for the aspen,do you happen to know of any? Thanks for any help.
Mi auto es un Chevrolet equinox 2012 en frío el relente se pone inestable y se apaga no marca nada en el tablero
Could either part needing cleaning cause elevated and fluctuating idle?
What did you use to clean that little hole ?
As far as cleaners you can use carburetor cleaner fluid or even some brake parts clean sprays ..use small wire of some sort or small drill bit by hand ONLY, blow some compressed air to make sure it's not plugged.
My pcv valve went… the rear main seal blew because of moisture and extreme cold. Cost me 3k will probably be going to a different manufacturer for a car next time around
@@darwinchapmam6343 no I did not have a vented oil cap. I used 5w-20 (can’t remember lol) I believe and I changed it every 3.5k
What if I took a wood screw and drove it straight in that area?
Over time the screw will find its way inside the engine
It gets plugged up due to poor oil control rings on the pistons. You have to replace the rings with the updated part number if you want to solve the problem . Cleaning the orifice hole is only a temporary fix.
Answered my question, 👍🏻
Just get headers, shorties are a direct replacement.
and how do you fix it
Hi guys, is there any test or any way to check if the pcv system of the crankcase manifold has been clogged?
Yes, block the line from the air box to the valve cover, if you hear a whistling sound the hole is not blocked.
i have the problem with my chevrolet captiva 2011 which is same engine with this, the problem is i got white smoke from exhaust, is it impact from the pcv like on this video?
May be related but not anyways.
SB 14882 covers this
This keeps happening to my 2015 GMC Terrain. Just fixed it and a week later same oil leak
how loud is it? cuz mine is so loud even with my music up you can hear it
It gets loud specially when accelerating
Stainless is to soft. The updated bolts for the back are titanium
If the bolts are too strong it will crack the manifold, just get some headers and problem solved.
Although not having problems with wife's 2011 equinox 2.4 97000 mi .I change oil and filter every 3000 mi, I'm gonna pull manifold next week and check things out. You are only the 2nd out of 10 videos i have watched that show correct way to clean manifold. Also I will be putting on a oil catch can. Awesome video
Thank you for your comments.
You don’t have to pull the manifold to check. If you block the pvc line from the air box to the valve cover you’ll hear a whistle if the pvc is operating properly.
My truck is shuddering now after dodge put new bolts in
My manifold was slightly warped like maybe 2 or 3 papers width. I used my belt sander with 80 grit and it worked perfectly. Shouldn't re warp..... new bolts and felpro gasket works just fine. Had 2 broken bolts luckily vice grips worked on them.
gray color on the exhaust manifold means it has been overheated. The cast iron is made less pores then older cast iron, when 5.7 cast iron expands it pushes on the bolts, manifold expands and contract each time you drive. Your manifold is warped due to overheating replace both manifold and use stainless bolts. do not use heat shield over the exhaust manifold.
This issue happens because dodge has aluminum alloy heads with cast iron exhaust manifold. 2 different types of metals with 2 different heat tolerance, its the root cause Dorman makes some stainless or aluminum manifolds that solves this issue completely
Good to know. Thanks
You have to make sure the manifold is flat! It will happen again! Check it with a straight edge.
They need to use a larger diameter stud.
Would this affect performance?
I don't think it does , maybe air turbulence and flow may be affected slightly but not enough that you would notice. Its more annoying than anything . But it is always better to verify the problem and not just assume that's it.
@@mariocoronanotonlyimports8620 Ok Thx been breaking my brain trying to figure out what's going on with it. It was running good (Just Idled a little rough) until I cleaned the throttle boddy now it won't go paskt 3k RPM.
@@DEADIKATED Disconnect battery for a couple of minutes to reset memory...see if it helps.
There has to be a better way than taking the intake off. Not many people can do that.
Sorry buddy. Blame the engineers.
Theres a better way just do a search.I did it and its easy .Took about 30min.
Yes. There is a video on here. Drill hole in outside of manifold in correct spot. Poke through the new hole with wire and find the little hole and poke out the crap. Put a small correct screw in the new outside access hole to plug it. Qnd you can unscrew it and clean it regularly every oil change
@@kylebanks4003 Thank you! I found a couple videos showing how. I’ll definitely do it. I had already drilled a hole in the manifold to spray Seafoam treatment to clean the intake valves hopefully 🤞
Great info! 💯🏆
I replaced with all stainless when I changed the cam/lifters in my hemi. Only been a few thousand miles. But so far so good.
Remember what bolts you used trying to order some myself
@@tattedup1189 I think I got them off ebay. Came as a kit.
We absolutely hate and i mean fucking hate when you people start talking over and over on the video!!
My 4.7 exhaust manifold has two snapped bolts ,passenger side front two, one of the bolts appears to have unthreaded itself 3/4 of the way before snapping.I will attempt to repair next week.
I have a 2014 GMC Terrain I was wondering is there a way to prevent the PCV valve and portholes from getting clogged. I found on a lot of the videos that they're saying if you change your oil sooner than the manufacturer says I believe it says every six to seven thousand miles do not listen to that. change it about every 3000 miles it's supposed to help that problem I'm not sure if anyone knows about it I haven't had the terrain that long but changing the oil way before time would help let me know please
I would say more like 4000 miles is still okay. I don't think it will solve the problem it might minimize it but not solve it. I believe it's a design flaw
@@mariocoronanotonlyimports8620 hey man the excesive oil consumption is because of the pcv vent hole clogged or it may be another thing?
@@guillermotorres9769 oil leaks can always be something else. A plugged up PCV is easy to check. Remove the oil dipstick and make sure your oil cap filler cap is on tight. Put a vacuum gauge on the oil dipstick. There should be very slight vacuum build up with the car running. If there is not, or very slight pressure starts to build up, suspect a plugged up PCV system
Vacuum gauge goes on the oil dipstick tube
Just install a pcv system with 2 oil catch cans. Thats what i did to my 2014 gmc terrain. And it works like a charm. Lets say if the orifice gets clogged i wont blow a rear seal since i installed a pcv in the oil cap with 2 oil catch cans
What do you use when reinstalling the intake manifold, di-electric grease? I was wondering since others are recommending to use di-electric, but wouldn't that harm the O2 sensors?
Lube of any kind must be used sparingly should not affect O2 sensors
I'm having the same issue right now. They're charging $549 to replace it.
This problem can potentially blow out your rear main seal and cause excessive oil leaks or oil consumption
You do not necessarily need to remove the valve cover
