Decorative stain and inlaid epoxy on a desk by Custom Kate
Переглядів 3,4 тис.9 років тому
This vintage mahogany desk had a crack running down the length of the top. I had to think up a design that would mask this crack, and naturally I thought of a horizon. One of the most beautiful horizons I've ever seen is that of Big Sur, CA. I added a monarch butterfly and the famous Bixby bridge. I filled the crack with turquoise epoxy and sanded well. I needed to draw attention away from the ...

    I just bought a gallon to cast and embed objects and thought it can be poured deep, but the instructions say no more than 3/16 of an inch per layer - or heat can cause cracking and problems. I'm confused... can we pour this East Coast resin deep?

    This is an art I could really get into. Thanks for the video. In watching, I am curious, what type of wood do you use? As woods differ in being more or less porous (like pine vs oak) to where they absorb more and faster, is there a wood choice over others? Looks like you are working with pine, which is softer and more porous.

    why did you choose East Coast Resins A n B

  • @patrickswayze2596
    @patrickswayze2596 6 років тому

    If you are going to do an instructional video on epoxy resin, you should really explain the importance of using a blow torch or heat gun in raising the air bubbles to the surface for them to pop! There were heaps in your first pour, would have been a perfect time to show how and why we use a blow torch or heat gun. Otherwise good job

    I've followed every step of this video. I just poured the big pour and I have a couple spots that are a tiny bit low. Should I just repour more colored epoxy or will my finish coats fill in my low spots for me?? Thanks
