    You can buy a variation of this tool. Save yourself that 1/2 day building and buying a welding machine to make 2-tack welds.

    Плоско-острый конец нужно было вдоль рукоятки сделать, а не поперёк. Шлак удобнее отбивать.

    Hi there i gotta say it looks great!. With the hardening you did after forming the balde do you keep an eye on an exact temperature or do you just eyeball it. I wanna try to harden steel but i dont know what temoerature i gotta be at

    • @JackCrawford-k2p
      @JackCrawford-k2p 11 днів тому

      You have to get thecsteel up in temperature until it becomes non-magnetic. When a magnet stops sticking, you are in the critical heat zone, so don't get much hotter than that.

      @JackCrawford-k2p ahhh okay thank you!

      @djelanokorten5956 you're welcome. Another method for making a knife from a file is to put the file in the oven (electric kitchen oven is good) at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 6 hours. This will draw some of the hardness out so that it won't be brittle, but it will be extremely tough and hold a remarkable edge. No forging needed because the file really, really pounded when they made it. After the soak in the oven, just shape, grind, and polish, add handle. Voila. Clean the file before putting it in some ladies' clean oven. If it's oily, it will stink up the house. When it comes out of the oven, the file should be a pretty blue color with hints of purple. You will be pleased with this method, I think.

      @djelanokorten5956 11 днів тому

      @JackCrawford-k2p so just the file in the over and go ham on it with an hammer?

    • @JackCrawford-k2p
      @JackCrawford-k2p 11 днів тому

      @djelanokorten5956 no hammer. Just grind it to shape. It was already forged when they made it, and then they hardened it. Super hard, too hard (breakable) for a knife. Putting it in the oven anneals it. Makes it the perfect hardness for a hunting knife. It also makes it grindable. If you want to forge it, you will have to get it non-magnetic (red-hot) and then pound it. But then you have to harden it and anneal it. The oven and grind method is easiest way to use a file for a knife. To forge a knife, you should try truck leaf springs or coil springs. They make tough knives.

    Hey, I don’t know who you are but I want to let you know that God is real. God is real and He made every one of us. When He made mankind He made him perfect, but the first people chose to rebel against God and that is called sin. Since the first man and women every single person has sinned which means that every single man, women, and child deserves to go to hell, and even though that doesn’t sound fair, it is fair. God is a holy and just God and cannot just forgive sin. God loves us though, and He wanted us to be saved from our sin. He chose to send His only begotten Son, Jesus, down to the earth to the live the perfect life that no one else has lived. Jesus was then wrongly condemned by Jews and crucified by the Romans. When He was on the cross Jesus bore all of His peoples sins upon Himself, so that God His Father punished Him for the sins that we have committed. Before Jesus died He said “It is finished” which means “paid in full”. Jesus paid for our sins so that we do not have to spend eternity in hell paying for them. On the third day after He was crucified Jesus arose from the dead and showed Himself to 500 people. He then told His disciples what to do and then He ascended to the right hand of the Father to eventually come back one day. God is willing to save you if you will repent of all your sins and wrong doings and fully trust in who Jesus Christ is. Sins are things that go against Gods nature and are things that He hates. Some common sins that have been accepted are pride, lying, lustful attraction, masturbation, sex before marriage, homosexuality, cursing, using the Lords name in vain, and hating other people. Confess your sins to the Lord and repent of all of them. Believe in what Jesus has done and ask God to save you. Please turn to Him before it is too late, because the end is coming very soon.

    Good job but ... Kiri dashi has one side bevel and can't be this thickness ( and heavy weight ) as it's mainly a carving small knife. If you are lazy to forge the right size and characteristics for a kiri dashi, you can easily make an axe or chisel for example.
