Health Care Access Research and Developmental Disabilities (H-CARDD) is a research program that aims to enhance the overall health and well being of individuals with developmental disabilities through improved health care policy and improved services. H-CARDD research is conducted by dedicated teams of scientists, policymakers, and health care providers, working collaboratively.
H-CARDD's partners include the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services, the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences, as well as many others. Neuro-affirming, inclusive workplaces: Autistic women’s employment experiences

Dr. Yani Hamdani is an Associate Professor in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, University of Toronto and Scientist at the Azrieli Adult Neurodevelopmental Centre. Her research program aims to understand and address the health, wellbeing and social inclusion of people labeled with neurodevelopmental disabilities, such as autism.
Corey Hollemeyer is a doctoral student at Fielding Graduate School studying Organizational Development and Change with a concentration in Sustainability Leadership. She is a late-diagnosed autistic woman with two young autistic daughters.
Description:
Autistic women often face more challenges in sustaining paid employment compared to autistic men and non-autistic/allistic people. Despite these difficulties, there is limited research on their workplace experiences. This presentation will share findings from research that explored the employment experiences of autistic women, focusing on how gender, disability, and neurodivergence intersect to shape these experiences.
