    I like that Omakub is opinionated and doesn't pretend that it's not opinionated. Most of the defaults are very smart and good choices, especially for developers new to Linux.

    Amazing, thanks for sharing. One question, i'm fan of astro in fact i build few static websites but i would love to integrate payloadCMS (openSource) with astro so whenever client is changing somethig to run a npm run build for generate the static files, i think its possible only with github actions, right?

    If you are using any kind of surround sound system or doing music production on Linux, go for low latency kernel to avoid any kind of delay. Another benefit will be your desktop will become snappy fast. I do a lot of development work and for it the Generic kernel is fine. But along with that, I like playing music using MIDI keyboard and have z906 5.1 surround sound for watching Blu-ray quality movies and for it the low latency kernel is a must. No delays, process prioritization and a lot of other benefit. However, low latency causes CPU overhead, but I have a 6 cores and 12 threads processor, so experience saw any CPU overhead.

    Thanks for not just dumping the tool but actually showing how to get started because this can prove useful. I gave on RSS a while ago but with this I can see a few good uses. For example, I would see an interface to send the youtube video URLs to the GPT bot that summarises it, so I can get the gist of the 30min rant of Louis Rossmann before I take the time, or simply get the transcript into newsboat. There are a number of quirks to resolve first though, mainly that it completely messes up accents. As a French speaker, this is really annoying. Terminals have been fine showing them for decades now.

    Oh wow. My Bluetooth dongle from an obscure brand worked out of the box with this version. It refused to do so with 22.04 LTS no matter how many solutions I tried with online tutorials.That was one of the gripes I had with 22.04 LTS that made me reluctant to consider abandoning my Windows system entirely. I was just about to buy an Edimax BT dongle which is rated to work with Linux. So I'm excited to see how 24.04 progresses and has it's kinks ironed out. If only DTS/DD 5.1 would work under Ubuntu via optical SPDIF. I've practically tried all methods online that claim to get it working (it may be a problem with my setup, or probably the fact that the license for DD/DTS has to be paid by the company manufacturing the audio chip to implement the same. Stereo works fine in Ubuntu and DTS/DD 5.1 only worked in windows after installing a cracked/modified driver)

    Loads of people now are fleeing Microsoft (and Google). There is a real need right now for content on how to switch a computer to Linux. I’m looking for those videos now… my issue is it’s not a fresh laptop, been in use for a few years.. I’m looking for that content now…

    • @Error8x8
      @Error8x8 4 місяці тому

      The problem is a lot of those Windows users looking to switch, don't want to learn how to use Linux. Just look at the comments on a lot of these videos and you'll find Windows users bitching about Linux not working "just like Windows" or whining about the Linux community not holding their hand and doing everything for them.

    • @alekjwrgnwekfgn
      @alekjwrgnwekfgn 4 місяці тому

      @@Error8x8 I’m not interested in bitching or who is bitching. There is an opportunity for a Linux content creator to cater to all those people who need their hand held. Those channels are going to get explosive growth, and I’m not going to bitch about that either.

    You keep saying 24.O.4 but it is 24.04 20 is the year and .04 is the month so revision 24.04 = the year 2024 and mouth = April. revision 23.10 would be 2023 and October. in August or July, they will add a .1 at the end for the first major update so 24.04.1

      I'm on Ubuntu Budgie. I had saved onto an external hard drive my files and folders before upgrading to the latest LTS version, but when I plugged in my external hard drive after upgrading, it wouldn't mount, and I couldn't open it to put my files and folders back onto my internal SSD. Please, if anyone knows of a fix for this, I'd be very appreciative in finding out. Thank you very much.

    Hi @ted, Thanks for the video, I have one doubt, based on the example shown above, I tried to create an Subscription system for my website, the problem i am facing is upon successfully submit the data to pocketbase, if the page is reloaded, a second query with the same data is fired and a new entry in pocket base is created, this happens for all the page reload until the form is filled with the new entries and then for new entry again it repeats. Can you help how can we reset the Astro.request.formdata() upon successful submission done once.

    Hi Ted, thanks your video helped a lot. I am trying to create pages with details of each individual user, for that I know we make a folder with it's title enclosed in brackets [id] and put a +page.svelte file inside it. But inside that file I want to get the id number from the route of the page. I saw a video of older version of svelte where he used 'const id = page.params.id'. That doesn't seem to work for the newer version maybe and I don't know the proper name of this technique so I'm having trouble searching it, can you help please?

    Hi! Thanks for very good explanation I am able to use it this way with my database (Supabase). The only issue with I face is reponse time. With Supabase when I visit page for the first time (in private mode) it takes ~100-300ms for document to be fetched. Only after that my page starts to be generated. It is a waste of time. What I would like to achievie is move all the code into +page.svelte, so when user visits a site for the first time (testing in private mode) it will take ~80ms to get the document, and then the page will simultaniously: - render itself (logo, menu, footer) - get data from server, after which show it on page I was able to make it this way but now prefetch stopped working, which is a page speed disadvantage... I try to make my page as fast as possible :) Thanks in advance for any ideas! Kind regards,
