Military Housing Okinawa - Plaza
This is FGO base housing in the Plaza neighborhood on Camp Foster in Okinawa, Japan. 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and it is around 1,400 sq ft based on the floorplan I was given. These houses are managed by the Air Force (not privatized) and were built in the 1960s.

Historic Makalapa Navy Housing Oahu - Furnished
Переглядів 6 тис.6 років тому
I made this video for family and friends to see where I live but thought it would be helpful for people looking into housing here too. This is Navy housing for O4 and up although any branch can live here. The houses are historic and all a bit different on the inside. O4 only qualifies for a 3-bedroom in this community and O6 and up get more bedrooms and bigger houses.. I posted a video of it em...

I love this! I lived at 2 Midway from 84-87, and 9 Makalapa from 91-96.
NOvember 17, 2023 Ms. Lisa Wong Lau, Irene Imanil to here to inquire if you can lend a helping hand to keep Orlando Ferrer Imanil alive, and his generations in HI. As you know I don't have a daughter relationship with him for over 40 years. And I know that he really enjoyed seeing and talking to you in GU whenever you visited him. Do you know if that well in Dona Lane still there? I want you to check the work of healthcare employees involved in keeping the generations of Orlando Ferrer Imanil alive to make sure they live. The holo of frozen, encanta, torture and abuse hurt and even killed the children of the Jonathan Imanil who was raped by Danny Kennedy, and beaten by Andrew and a Micronesian man of Skakel until he died? There are 6 that I am picking up, all are Pangasinan speakers, but 4 are raped or killed by Danny Kennedy. I know that Gloria Casupang Calimlim is your heroine, but I wanted to mention that she was so criminally that the supreme court keeps an eye on her to be prosecuted. She has to go for your daughters to live. I know that you can keep the wounded, shots sons of the Jonathan Imanil alive, and care for them. I also know that you can militarily activate me at Hickam prior to my departure to Boston, MA with some of my nephews and nieces. It's Arquero Kennedy that I wanted to test for the rules of military engagement. Arquero is out of Imanil bloodline that she's trying to steal for her children with Patrick Kennedy that I call them "froggies" because they wanted to be identified as Laca gene, yet everyone knows it's a frog gene. Keep them alive despite the wound.
November 16, 2023 Irene Imanil here to inform all military active duty that my siblings, nieces and nephews and I desperately need help to be together. Several of them are held hostages in different buildings and I need swift action to intervene to search and rescue those who are bleeding, starving, sleep deprived, and suffering from hypothermia resulting from bleeding. Secure a house for us to live together. We need quick action because text, phone calls, may not work. I also need to save those in vitro sons and daughters or the Jonathan Imanil who are not wanted anymore by their parents because they growing up and they are medicated, abused, and tortured and soon to be transferred to the hospital to be euthanized for such a young age. These children were so used to secure a house, condo, apartment but about age 20 and beyond, they are left on their own searching for me to be with me. I can provide care for them and even educate them.
Like ours at Machinato❤
We were there on Makiminato housing area between 12-77- to 12-80. I remember the typhoon telethons and Kiddie Kapers. Lets not forget Soupy Sails. Lupin The third and my favorite show was a Japanese show about high school girls Volley Ball . There was also a Japanese show about a mischievous male teen. Thank you so much for posting this video It brings back fond memories.
I wish my husband would get stationed in Japan I love Japanese food and the people.❤
Where? Kadena ? Fasima? Shields?
Plaza is part of Camp Foster.
Nov 4, 2022 This is Irene Imanil with nevi (real, King Philip, II and Gaudencio Laca bloodline) calling from Waikiki Public Library @ 1456 hour to inform you to beg to differ from Hickam AFB because that bastard commander there can only block me and fake news with Filipinos as her maiden servants. My characterization of her: She's non American, Great Brit who needs to lose weight so she looks presentable sitting at Hickam. I'm not competing for a post there because I plan to exit HI after temporarily living in a military housing. She knows I'm already down to the wire, but I wonder why fake news suddenly? Thus, she's non American, Great Brit who got made when she's impregnated by a Chinese man. Some UH, Manoa professors and former professors, non fluent in ilocano and tagalog are probably trying to do an investigation of my situation. They know my name, but that bastard commander of Hickam is probably jealous, because I'll be good to really good to them.
She invited her Filipino "kumari" to be in HI to embarrass Irene or to embarrass herself? Don't just patronize heresay or gossip because that could lead to ethnic cleansing act of one. That ulterior motive, that intent is never known. No one knows the set up, traps of one. Why are my brothers, nephews, nieces are attack, raped, beaten, sleep deprived, medicated for no reason even at a young age of 20, instead of secur ed, protected and saved while Caroline Kennedy is still alive?
My family lived at 1 Makin Place, very similar to the house toured here, from 1970-1973. It's amazing when I look at photos from 30 years prior when Makalapa was constructed and how quickly the lush vegetation had grown. Now, 50 years later since I lived there, and 80 years since Mak's start...its just wow...hard to believe how time flys. It's Twilight Zone in my mind. I'd love to visit as I did in early '84 when they'd put security gates up (the guards let me in then) that used to not be there. Mak used to be wide open to travel even for civilians. That changed I believe after the Beirut bombing in '83. I tried to enter in 2009 but the Marine guards said no, I didn't have a sponsor. The guards' parents were probably small children when I lived there. I felt like I was being kept out of my own neighborhood. Best time of my life, those years there playing in the crater, swimming at Tower Pool and the old outdoor movie theater. I wonder if its still there ? And hanging out on the bomb shelters by the tennis courts and theater.
We love that neighborhood and definitely miss it. The vegetation is amazing. My kids would swing from the vines in the backyard and the workers would cut open coconuts for them after they trimmed. Definitely a special place!
Station there 93-96 still look the same. I enjoyed it!
All of our furniture was government issued on Okinawa 1954-1957 Army brat, Sukiran housing. Long time ago. No shipping of your furniture back then, you got what the government issued, rattan furniture mostly. Three bedroom, one bath..concrete floors (easy to sweep out the typhoon water!). Yep, a long time ago….
Look like it still is.
I miss Oki
The comments are so cool seeing how different generations grew up here.
We will be there next month!
Can deployed civilians stay here or is this just for military only?
Only for military. To my knowledge, civilians stay off base but get a nice housing allowance.
@@kateray3834 Thank you!
Is this only for officers? We are family of 6 and my husband is E-6. We will be moving there by August. I'm so worried that our stuff and my family won't fit in 4 bedrooms housing on base.
Yes- this one is designated for officers. The bedrooms in this house are a bit larger than other 4 bedrooms I’ve seen but the kitchen and living room are a bit smaller. This house is about 1400 sq feet. I would plan on around 1200 sq ft. The houses are definitely small. We ended up making one room a playroom with toys and a TV and they share a room to sleep.
I remember a cousin staying with us which made us 6. My brothers had their own room and we girls shared a room.
My father was a navy chaplain and we lived on plaza 85-88. Houses were spartan, but we never had any typhoon damage. Plaza was a great place as a kid.
Hey, Do you know 4171 is. I used to live there
We lived in a house like that at Sebille Manor in Kadena Air Base when I was stationed there from 1999 to 2000.
Looks the same as it did in 1991 and 92 Camp Fosters and Camp Lester
Thank you so much for posting this. I lived in this housing complex when I was very young. It brings back so many memories.
I’m sorry if I missed it but is this Camp Hansen ?
Camp Foster Plaza Housing
@@kateray3834 thank you . My son is in Hansen . I recently found out there is no housing in Hansen. They did talk about maybe moving his location of work or a commute. Can you give me any insight on something like that I am a little nervous
I use to live in Okinawa as a kid from 1971-73 and that home look pretty similar to my home. What I remember most was the very very large green grasshoppers, the poping pod plants, typhoons condition one, my mom killing the lizards with a broom, boiling water in your bathtub spam and rice, Hamburger Helper and Ultraman.
Sounds very familiar to me, I was there in 1968-69, I remember the condition 1 typhoons. Do you remember that tall Arm forces radio television tower?
We were there on Makiminato housing area between 12-77- to 12-80.I remember the typhoon telethons and Kiddie Kapers. Lets not forget Soupy Sails.
Why does this look like my old house I lived in. I lived in 4064 plaza housing and I swear that looks like the same house I lived in 😂
Looks like the one I lived in at 4171
I was 4066!! But 1985-87 🤭😂
This is 4066 😊
@@kateray3834 so this should be next door to my old house then ?
@@IamGaby Yes - 4064 is my next door neighbor.
Do any of the homes here have a water view? 06
Some of the O6 and higher homes have water views in this neighborhood.
Plaza was always all officer housing from inception till? Yes the AF owns ALL housing on Okinawa.THey really upgraded the floors from the old days (sixties and seventies) I lived on okinawa for 16 years and go back each year at least once. Am always amazed how some not this lady but many complain about the housing... buckup buttercups your in the military this home would cost you 3000.00 if you had to rent it and that's without the maintenance and such. The Furniture is a big upgrade from the "early GI" look we all lived with back in the day... and we were happy for it.
We could have rented a home off base and the homes off base are really nice. However, we decided to sacrifice ‘nice’ for a big yard and a neighborhood setting.
We lived on the Plaza in the late 70's. Dad was not an officer. I do not believe our friend's fathers were either. At least the ones that lived around us.
omg we lived in a 3 bedroom just like that on kadena circle when we lived in Okinawa in the late 60s to 75 when we left
Looks like we were there same time. I was an Army brat
I lived in that house from 1965 thru 1968.. 33 Halawa Dr. My dad worked at Cincpacfleet..I went to Pearl Harbor Kai Elementary School..when I saw the 33 on the door I couldn’t believe it lol..thank you for the video...
oh wow! we’ve moved on now, but I loved that house. Makalapa is such a special neighborhood.
I don’t get why they force single folks to move off base entirely. I had a 3bd, 2bt, garage, and frYard, bkYard at my last last base and something like that I’d be perfectly fine with.
Be cool if you did a follow up on after you got your furniture. I’m an air force brat who used to live in Oki. I always like looking at these home videos. It reminds me of my childhood. Lol.
I will! It’s been slow moving in. Our stuff took 3 months to arrive, and then we had a new baby 3 weeks after that and life has been chaotic, but I’ll post an updated video soon.
That would be awesome and congrats on your newborn! 😊
Thank you for posting the video and the tour of housing. I wonder what the square footage is within the home you displayed. We’re headed there next year and will likely have to store most of our stuff. Thank you again!
The inside is approximately 1,400 sq feet. The bedroom sizes are ok but the bathrooms, kitchen and living room are all pretty tiny.
Will you be able to tour the Camp Foster SNCO housing? Thank you in advance
I’m sorry- I just saw this. I do not know anyone in that housing to have access, but the Okinawa Military Family Housing Facebook page has photos and video walkthroughs of the housing layouts now.
Lived in a duplex there on Foster in 1994. Great memories.
I'm so incredibly glad I never had to live in any housing on base. They're... not good.
Definitely not nice! We did love our base house in Hawaii though, so they aren’t all bad.
Which base is this?
Kadena i guess.
It’s the Plaza neighborhood on Foster
say hi to henry for me
hi its avery
Hi Avery! Lol
Thank you for posting this. My family lived on Midway Dr.in the seventies.
Wow! You did an amazing job! It is beautiful.
Enjoy the hawaiian land and learn the culture 🤙🏽
Hi Kate! Great video! Quick question -- how were you able to convince the housing office to let you switch out the appliances? And, if something went wrong with your new appliances, were you responsible for the repairs/maintenance? Lastly, how did you hook up the outdoor shower? Mahalo nui!!
Suzanne Callamari it took some convincing but we finally talked to the right person. Originally they wanted us to store the old appliances ourselves. However, the appliances did not work well - the dishwasher leaked and the stove was old and inefficient so they took them both away as ‘broken’ and we had it noted in our lease that we were going to replace them with our own. We kept the original fridge and use it on our lanai as a backup one. If something did go wrong with the new appliances we bought, we would have had to repair them ourselves. The outdoor shower has a hose attachment. Luckily our hot water heater is on the outside of the building near the shower so we were able to split the hot and cold water to run it to the shower through a regular hose.
Literally THE BEST military housing I have EVER seen. You have it laid out beautifully! ❤️ I’m hoping that we get to come to Hawaii next year. We’re in San Diego now.
I love what you did with the place!
thank you for sharing!
