I have a Gebruder Monnig, they are not made anymore. It is the best piccolo I’ve ever had and i used the wave Also. It’s great for resonance in the lower register i find.

So beautifully made and finally a good tempo. I have sung the aria many times and most of the time it was chosen much too quickly by the conductor. It was like having a competition to see who can finish first. Continue to enjoy making music and all the best from Hamburg.

Can you please share the flute notes

Am playing 1927 closed hole Haynes which had been used professionally. Plays nicely. Was looking to step up and auditioned flutes at Flute Center of New York. Very disappointed in Haynes new Q Series. Actually, preferred Muramatsu and Pearl, both of which were comparable. But prices of upscale flutes are obscene. Still sitting on sidelines.

I play on a 14K Brannen flute that I had made for me back in 2006. Didn't like the original headjoint that came with my flute, ( you don't get to try out a custom made flute heads, but you can exchange it out for another head from the company, in the first year after purchase). Took me about 5 yrs trying different gold heads until I found the one for me. Played on it for about 10 yrs. Gold is wonderful but is much different than silver. Before my gold flute, I played silver Haynes in college. Gold blends well in orchestra, doesn't have the same carrying power as silver. Also since it is denser than silver, takes more air/endurance to play. About 4 yrs ago finally sold my 14k headjoint and found my dream headjoint ( for now..😅) an Original JR Lafin Platinum headjoint with 14k embouchure and riser. The combination of the Platinum head with the 14K body of the flute, is very nice. Platinum gives more carrying power when I want it, blends well with others, and the sound is incredible because it's got multiple metals. My backup flute is a silver Powell which is still wonderful, and when I want a lighter flute to play, it delivers. Silver I believe still has the ability to make some of the best lower registers, dynamic wise...🎵

Three ears ago I bought a used Emanuel head joint which is better than the original Sanyo artist model more than 30 years ago. i would have loved to hear you play something you love on that flute. But i loved the energy and joy you transmit as you talked.

Excellent story. Thank you for your honesty. I'm playing on an Altus 1107. I just tried a Faulisi, silver, with silver riser; a Mancke, silver with platinum riser; a Powell, silver with Solist cut; A Powell silver with Venti cut. They were all very nice. Mancke was loudest with platinum riser. Faulisi had a beautiful sound. But my Altus head joint with gold riser was still a lot better. My Altus head joint has an extremely beautiful sound, in all three registers, and is loud too. Often times the grass seems greener, but take a moment to really compare and listen, you just might be like me and realize you have the right head joint for you. There is a lot of hype for certain head-joints because we all want that 'Holy Grail' of flutes, but sometimes the one you think is it, in reality, is not. I had the money to purchase a head-joint, but I found out that my flute is just right for me. Let your flute choose you. Go into any trial with an open mind, dont get caught up on brands nor price. Let your ears and your heart tell you which is the right choice. And do not neglect getting a COA at least once per year. Good sealing pads and a new cork will make your flute sound incredible.

I currently play on a platinum clad Muramatsu and i also upgraded my headjoint to a 9k rose gold Mancke Headjoint. I tried the Muramatsu when I was shopping for my bass flute. I tried multiple brands until I came across this one and it is now my new baby

It is so good to see women composing music. When I was taking composition in college, it was an "all guys" class. I asked my teacher why there were no females in the class and he replied, "It's a male thing!" I was furious! He also said that gay men could not compose music, I am glad that I kept my mouth shut or I would have been out of the class! This was a great performance!
