The problem is that you are not using a trowel to provide a straight flat and full application of mud. Using the pointing trowel is a no no! And your pushing the mud around with the float,making it crooked and empty. Your too worried about making it smooth that your making it worse. Your float needs to be wider, and should be wood, or a proper rubber float. A cedar shingle made into a float works well. Practice up on your troweling for better results. 3/10.. Have a great day!
