so excited to discover these very very cool backing tracks. Played E lydian, (duh), but worked in as much chromatics into it as possible. also adding in some diminished runs build on b5 up and down from the A#

very cool! I've been experimenting with allan's more exotic scales, sometimes not feeling it to be honest wiht my phrasing in me with some of them... i decided to try one of those scales I wasn't really feeling before (since that chromatic bassline seemed like worth a try).. I tried the messian scale shapes(those anglular patterns of mostly chromatics). Use those shapes and my ear and... surprisingly pretty interesting results. I didn't sound like holdsworth, but did sound musical and cool making use of those odd scales. I think fun after working on chromatics. AND trusting another visionary, Col. Bruce Hampton. Toss away the fear, use your ears. Forget all the scales you know. Just play.
