FYI, Southern BC killer whales are critically endangered. Drones can be no closer than 900m, and must be higher than 300m. Boats cannot be closer than 400m. Lots of uninformed, self-absorbed twats out there that day.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. FYI these are the Northern Resident Orcas and as already stated on numerous occasions, this is not our drone, the drone is from the research boat that is authorised to use it, we are on the beach and captured this encounter quite by chance.

Yes, they do. Drones must fly higher than 300m, and no closer than 900m. Whoever flew the drone is an A hole. Souther killer whales are critically endangered.

I absolutely love to watch wildlife videos and I love the sounds as much as the wildlife I also like to read comments at the end of the videos because sometimes I learn from what others have to say but more often than not it’s comments of people complaining for one reason or another I don’t leave unless they’re nice or I informative because negative comments are really a drag on my wellbeing and besides I’m in control I can stop watching no leave likes don’t subscribe and I know how to mute the sound so thank you for this video I’ve never seen them so close to the beach and now I haven’t to learn why thank you

Thank you for your lovely comments, we share our videos because not everyone is able to go to places like Vancouver Island and witness themselves. Negative comments are distracting and unnecessary, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Orcas rubbing on beaches is rare to see, the rubbing beaches on Johnstone Strait are restricted areas. This beach is a public beach, but it is policed by a group of enthusiasts who love the visiting Orcas. The Drone is from the research boat.

Someone once asked me "Do you ever tire looking at the moon?" And of course, I said "No!" Nature is so special and fascinating that whatever it is, I never get tired of looking at it. I will never forget being on a boat when I first saw a dolphin. In an instant, I turned into an excited three year-old kid and could not take my eyes off of the dolphin. It sure looked like the people in this video experienced this magic and excitement of a young child. I am so happy that they got to see the Orcas!

I wasn’t saying the drone captured the video. I was relating how menial the background noise weighed in for me.
