I hope the PCB in this mic is more robust than what is in the MA275. I had read they were prone to failure, and mine just failed at four months. Will try this one before looking at a whole new GMRS mobile system.

When you turn off the truck do you also have to turn the radio off or is power routed through the main power switch?

Bro is there a way to get it to function as a brake light? I just installed mine (Morimoto), and it works as a running light, but couldnt figure out how to tap it into the brake

Excellent video! I really enjoyed the helpful information and thoughtful tips you provided. I really like the fact that you recommended the microphone extension cable because a lot of people wouldn’t think about that. I do know that Midland sells a bundle that includes that cable, but if consumers are just buying the radio itself, they need to know that they need to purchase that cable extra, so I think it’s good, that you mentioned it! Suggestion: When installing any radio and antenna, I think it’s essential to have an SWR meter handy so after you run your power harness you can dry mount the antenna first, then power up the radio and test the SWR of the antenna on the lower and higher frequencies to make sure the desired location has acceptable SWR readings on both frequencies. That way if you have to make any adjustments, such as shortening the cable or moving the mount to a better location, it will be very easy to do so. I’ve made that mistake before, where I finished my installation and drove around for a few days/weeks bummed I wasn’t getting the desired results. Then after testing with an SWR meter I realized the location I’d chosen wasn’t ideal to begin with. I should’ve just tested it before routing my antenna cable. Having that meter handy will really save you in the end. Just a helpful suggestion I’ve learned along the way. Keep up the great work! Strobe pattern is kinda bad, those have programming to make them wig wag, aka side to side flash which is far more effective than just simultaneous flashing. These lights have programming for that from Soundoff that is stated in the wiring diagram.

Thanks for this. I'm pretty new to trailering and, considering all the backup safety systems on a trailer, I'm simply amazed that 99% of the hitch pins out there are held on by a feeble little pin and that's all that's between you and catastrophe. I've ordered a locking hitch pin (not BulletProof -- hope it's OK) that has a similar backup system. Why all hitch pins don't have some kind of safety backup is beyond me.

unrelated question, but my tremor tires are all rubbed. what do you recommend to clean them up? yours are all shiny.
