The Lybbert Adventures
Japan
Приєднався 18 сер 2020
Our current adventure is living in Okinawa, Japan. We love adventure, trying new things and being creative. We've got big, crazy plans for our future and people think we are nuts, but we love it.
Michael is an engineer. He is always coming up with new projects. Kara bounces around trying new things, experimenting and looking for a new challenge.
Stay tuned to see what crazy things we'll try next. 😋

Daxton Over The Rainbow
Today would have been Daxton's fourth birthday. We miss him and decided to make a tribute video to him for his birthday. He was beyond special. So sweet and happy. For those who do not know, Daxton was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma Cancer and passed away in January 2023. I used Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's song "Somewhere Over The Rainbow/What a Wonderful World".

Cave Okinawa
Переглядів 8210 місяців тому
Hey guys, we decided to check out Cave Okinawa here in Okinawa, Japan. It was a quick tour of the cave, but really cool. There's some history involved with Okinawans hiding there during a war and such. Signs said there were a few species of animal residents that live in the cave, but the only ones we saw were BATS. No, they did not try to eat us. They did not even get close to us. The last port...
Secret paddleboarding spot with CAVE!
Переглядів 22610 місяців тому
Hey guys! We are at it again! Finding random, new spots here in Okinawa, Japan! This amazing spot has everything for a perfect day at the beach. We boarded our paddleboards from a sandy beach, then rounded an island, finding a couple of gorgeous little beaches. We found an arch that we were able to fit under with our paddle boards. Next we set out to cross a bay and along the way we were able t...
Okinawa's Nago PINEAPPLE Park!
Переглядів 79311 місяців тому
Up in the nothern area of Okinawa, there is an area called Nago that has a pineapple park! The pineapple park has it's own awesome pineapple song! This song is catchy and reminds me of the 'It's a Small World Song'. To begin the pineapple park tour, you park and enter a small building where you purchase your park tickets from a kiosk. Once you have purchased the tickets, you board the trolley t...
Mochi Pounding
Переглядів 1,1 тис.11 місяців тому
Hey guys! We were invited to a Mochi pounding event with local Japanese to celebrate the new year! It was super fun for the kids to pound the rice to make the Mochi! After pounding Mochi, we got to taste mochi in a soup broth, some with chocolate sauce and some with a sugar and sweet soy sauce (my personal fav). Sorry I forgot to get photos of the mochi we ate there. It isn't my favorite, but I...
Osaka and Kyoto
Переглядів 21 тис.Рік тому
A little late on creating and posting this video of our trip to Osaka and Kyoto over Thanksgiving break. Working through grief can make it difficult to do things... We heard that friends from Texas, The Hormans, were going to be in Japan during that time. We met up with them in Osaka and spent a day in Osaka exploring and a day in Kyoto. We visited the Dotonbori shopping district, ate Okonomiya...
Daxton's Memorial Video Reel
Переглядів 5742 роки тому
This is the second video from Daxton's memorial service. This video is longer but contains video footage of Daxton's life. I personally have to watch it in chunks because it is long and I just cry through it. I love watching him grow and seeing the light that he was. For those unaware, Daxton passed away from neuroblastoma after a year and a half fight at only two years old. He is and always wi...
Daxton's memorial photo video
Переглядів 2282 роки тому
For those who don't know, Daxton lost his fight against neuroblastoma a couple weeks ago. We are of course devastated. With the help of family and friends, we were able to put together a beautiful memorial service for him. This is one of two videos that played during his memorial. It is a compilation of photos of Daxton.
Goblin Valley Cancer Camping
Переглядів 3472 роки тому
This is our second camping trip as a cancer family. We camped on BLM land just outside of Goblin Valley State Park in Utah. In addition to seeing Goblin Valley, we hiked part of Little Wild Horse Canyon which is a slot canyon. The kids did fantastic. In some ways it was a smoother camping trip and in others more difficult. For example, it was sandy and windy so that made it difficult for keepin...
Cancer Camping Snow Canyon
Переглядів 1782 роки тому
This is the first camping trip we have taken since Daxton was diagnosed with cancer. It was a huge relief to feel like normal humans again. We ventured to Snow Canyon State Park which is down by St. George, Utah. We had a blast and came home refreshed. I'd say ready to continue the fight against cancer, but no one is ever ready for that. The extra challenges with cancer camping involve things l...

Homemade minimalist wallet
Переглядів 782 роки тому
I design and make a simple wallet, but add a little style to it for good measure. My old wallet lasted about 15 years, but after several repairs and one complete remake, it was time for a new one. It's a simple build, but I'm very happy with the way it turned out. I hope you like it too. Stock music provided by four_track, from Pond5
Duplex Walkthrough Video
Переглядів 922 роки тому
This video shows our duplex that we have owned for about 7 and a half years. Most of our marriage. We have done a lot to improve this duplex from where it was when we bought it and it looks way better! Besides remodeling the both kitchens, replacing flooring, painting, tiling, fireplace, etc, we have also replaced the roofs (house and carport), the water heaters, one of the furnaces, and the sw...
Kyushu Trip Part 1: Fukuoka
Переглядів 1532 роки тому
Last spring when we were still living in Okinawa, we were privileged to get to travel to Kyushu (one of the main islands of Japan). We have intended to create videos showing our beautiful trip but due to Daxton's cancer and life, we have been slow getting the videos out. This is the first of four videos showing the beautiful countryside of Kyushu. We landed in Fukuoka and traveled a round about...

I stumbled upon this video while researching things to do in Okinawa for my trip in May. Would you mind sharing where you rented the paddle boat and where you stayed at? I thought I saw ANA Intercontinental Manza Beach and Hyatt Regency Seragaki in distance. My family would love to explore the cave! Water seems shallow and safe. Thank you! I am going to check out your other videos!
Hello! We currently live in Okinawa and own those paddle boards. I cannot find a name for the bay we were in, but I'll share a Google pin for a wedding venue that is on top of the cliff that has the cave. maps.app.goo.gl/FapVNWsXop9TXJPF8
@@thelybbertadventures725 thanks! Ironically I stayed at the hotel where your wedding venue was at last year but didn’t venture out into the water. I guess I have to go back someday. This May we are going to Minna Island and the surrounding area 🏝️ Thanks for all your videos! Your family is amazing! ❤️

Oh momma that’s so hard😞
I really miss the parks in oki
Do you know what kind of whales?
They were humpback whales
Have you been to the farmers’ markets yet?
Yes. That's the best place to buy produce on island. Way better than the commissary.
Cooool!
Was this expensive?
I don't think it was very expensive. I do not remember how much we paid, but my husband thinks it was about $25 for the family.
Have you done Bios on the Hill?
I have not. What is Bios on the Hill?
Oooo I never went here! How cool!
This is where my photos were!
Pretty photos!
Did you go this year?
I wish! Unfortunately, we are in Utah for cancer treatments.
How are you liking this house a year in?
We have had to move because of my son Daxton's cancer, but I was devastated to leave it. It was nice and walking distance to the beach was huge when you have 3 littles in car seats!
Aw I got family photos done there like 10 years ago
I love that my kids are not the only ones that use their shirts as a napkin
What a cool idea!
I like the park across the way but would suck for quarantine
Ooo love that yard!!
Haha😆poor mommy
