an elderly couple found Poquito on the 22nd of June, lifeless, starved, dehydrated, on a gravel road. kept her two days, came to me and asked if I knew anyone who could take her. I said bring her! Poquito is doing very well, gets along with everyone. Still a little skittish and runs under the bed. meet our new gift from God! This is Day 3 with the new chicks. When they get bigger, I will let them with DJ. right now, he likes to touch things with his paws and I am afraid he will smash one. I watch him flatten our cats all the time lol

I want DJ to raise up these girls as his own flock. Teach him to protect them, give him a job. The girls are Americauna. They are about 36 hours old. Going well so far!

MOmma (Peanut) and Baby (Nugget) went from wild to housecat! no problem with the other 4 cats, and DJ the puppy (who turned 6 mos today). I couldn't be more pleased with their progress! Yay us! Yay them!

Her Momma "Peanut" showed up in our neighbors yard. found out she had a kitten. Had to trap the kitten. They have been here for a week now. For a kitten who alledgedly was wild, she is adapting very well to 5 other cats, and 2 dogs. Her Momma is also doing very well. lol I am watching him very close. but so you know, he was hot, panting, dripping, cuz of the heater and the heat lamp going. so he wasn't drooling over the chicks lol I keep telling him these are your babies to take care of. Let him sniff their butts, put one at a time on florr by his feet. he lays down and watches them, like he does with the cats, ears perke dup, not going after them. I have confidence as they get bigger, all they gotta do is whack him one time and he will back up lol meanwhile, he will put his head down in the container, and the chicks come to his face. to me they are bonding with him, and me too of course.He is their Mommy is my goal

Beautiful garden! Any update on how it turned out? Did you use for fresh eating or drying?
It is delicious! Used for fresh, but, it ripened almost overnight, and the coons got to the cobs. I harvested and dried the cobs that were damaged, and we replanted from those.

If you want New potatoes, you can do that after they have flowered. Otherwise, wait until the plant dies and turns brown, give it two to three weeks, then harvest them. Don't forget the fully matured ones need to be dried before storing them - AND DON'T WASH THEM! Lots of videos out there about that detail - hugs! Oh, and now is a good time to start another batch!
