Citizen Eco Drive waking from power save
Citizen AQ1000-58E will automatically go to deep sleep mode if no sunlight for a few days... when exposed to light it will catch up on the time... fun just to see it spin and spin :)

This type of SEIKO is not Perpetual calendar one.

Citizen is always a better brand. Seiko always cuts corners.

I haven't seen any skimping on any Grand Seiko i have ever looked at. A lot of the Chronomaster owners report the second hand not matching up to the markers after they've had them for awhile. Also, the Seiko stops dead after the jump with no backlash. Its over-engineered to do that.

The second hand of the Citizen moves in a firm way, while the Grand Seiko is a bit like sliding to the next second, I prefer the Citizen

Both beautiful, extremely accurate watches. The deal breaker for me with the Citizen, is that the second hand obviously does not hit on the markers as the Grand Seiko. The quickset hour feature I can live without, but the marker thing would drive me nuts.

parallax error must be account for though. you have to be dead overhead such that if the hand was perfectly hitting the marks, you could tell it was hitting the marks. If you are not dead overheard, than there's a potential angle between you and the hand, and the index, and you could not expect it to look perfect

Not really a review - but a comparison of this watch against something similar from Seiko... hope that helps! forums.watchuseek.com/f9/seiko-sbgx063-vs-citizen-aq1000-58e-1056498.html

Fantastic watches but if I owned the Seiko I would be driven insane that the date does not change in the same way as the Citizen. For £2000+ it bloody well should.

Yeh the lack of a PC is bad... But lack of quick set hours a real deal breaker. End up travelling don't bring the seiko, which is a shame it is nice. Small correction this one cost usd$1400

I myself like the Seiko for the styling but tend to wear the Citizen because of the quickset hours. If the Seiko had the quickset hour feature would find it much more useful, but right now tend to use it as a dress watch on rare occassion... a shame since it is really nice
