I'm a professional pilot who loves to play flight simulators and will occasionally post some videos here. Some are tutorials, some are just playing around, and others are for review. Hopefully someone likes watching people play flight simulator as much as I enjoy flying it. And more importantly, I really hope the videos are able to help someone get further into their love of aviation, flying, and simulation!

Quick detour into the Grand Canyon in Flight Simulator 2020 with a few minutes spent outside of the XCub looking at the scenery. It's not Flight Simulator 2024, but VR gives you some real possibilities...I just need a bigger room to walk around...maybe i should start playing in the backyard as well. :)

FS2020 - Challenger 350 (Real Pilot Review)
Petit Jean is a fun airport to visit. It’s kinda abandoned now, but the runway is in good shape. In its prime, it was part of Win Rockefeller’s playground and there’s no telling who landed there. Presidents. The waterfall is fantastic. The stream has carved out a stadium-sized bowl that you can’t see until you’re right over it. From the ground, sometimes it’s just a trickle or not there at all and sometimes it’s a deafening monster. You can walk behind it. The path behind it looks scarier than it actually is. You can call the lodge and they’ll send a car to take you to the trailhead for the waterfall trail. It’s a nice lodge. Restaurant is not great, but there is one. My kids and I airplane-camped at Trigger Gap, up by Eureka Springs. That’s a fine grass strip for a 172. Bathroom shack and fine pavilion with a fireplace. Takeoff to the west is preferred. I’ve landed at Richland Creek, just west of Marshall, which is beautiful but might get sporty with kids and camping gear. The airstrip is right at a lovely fishin’ hole. Crystal clear. Even has a bathroom shack. Landing at Richland Creek in a 172 is no problem, but there are tall trees at either end and taking off requires the actual short field technique: Push the tail into the weeds, run as hard as you can and pop into the air quick and drive straight at the big scary trees aiming to just barely miss them. You could camp at Richland Creek by flying the kids out first, early in the morning, and dropping them off at Marshall, which is a great airport just a few miles east with a big fine runway and pilots’ lounge with snacks and drinks and cable TV and a 20-year-old courtesy Honda with ice cold AC, and then going back for the camping gear. In Arkansas, forget the $100 hamburger. Go to the Grider Field Cafe at Pine Bluff. Mississippi delta soul food. I can’t tell you how good it is. All of the food is exquisite, but I think Tuesday is chicken and dumplins day and those folk make the best you’ll ever have and that’s an end of it. The best. Get yams. Go back for more. Thaden Field up in Rogers is worth flying to. You’ve got to talk to Razorback Approach, but they’re good folks. The “field house” has a decent restaurant overlooking the runway. The last hangar belongs to one of the Walton panda cubs, and he’s got a Mustang, a Griffon-engine Spitfire, and the last of the Super Corsairs - Race 57 - in there. Go bother him if you get a chance to. And don’t forget to visit my home field, KBDQ. It is abandoned and overgrown with weeds in my version of MSFS, which is hilarious. Aircon works in the pilot’s lounge and I’ve made a good bookshelf there for a lending library. I’ve got the good stuff. The Sant-Exupery stuff. Take a book and bring it back when you’re done. Good excuse to fly back.
Another fine tutorial from you sir. I felt like I was In the right seat, watching your expert guidance on the Proline 21. There were some particulars about that flight, and limitations from MSFS ,yet you aced it. Procedure turns, along with course reversals, those are above my pay grade, yet , it’s all a must learn for me. I’m grateful for your work here on your channel. ! It was a blast to watch and learn !
Thanks Dan! Glad it helped!
I have flown your tutorial at least 20 times, have my pro line 21 management skills at a much higher level thanks to you. ! I tried to take your instruction, and apply it to another airport pairing, KLAS-KBURi in the CJ4, this requires threading through a mountain valley , while descending to BUR. (Very cool in VR). The only thing I messed up is the turn to final, it looked like a nasty 150 degree turn on the nav display. This was on the ILS Y For Rwy 8, the turn was leading to SILEX . I would really like to see you do this for one of your fine tutorials on your channel KLAS-KBUR , ILS Y rwy 8 . Your other subscribers will dig this too! Dan, your greatest fan.
@@danc2353 I’ll take a peak! Happy to see that the video has helped you go further in your CJ4 journey! :)
@ thanks for considering the sim flight to KBUR. KLAS 26R , KBUR 08. RAYDR 2/ JANNY 5. ILS Y 08. Thank you. !!
I just cant seem to extend the centerline at Loreta properly, all I ever get is a curved FMC line, (magenta) . Not the straight extended center line that you showed . After the ILS transition on the display, my green needles are never straight up and down like yours , any advice? Approach is horrendous! Any advice? Besides not becoming a real world pilot?
Are you inputting the inbound course for the ILS (021 Degrees) after clicking DIR -> LRETA? So, when you're inbound and on a HDG for an intercept to the final approach course. Your actions should be DIR -> LRETA then 021 -> R6 (Lowest Right Button) then EXEC. Watch the video at about 22:20 and it goes through those steps. That'll bring the magenta course around to match the ghost needles. If your green needles aren't matching after you get a transfer, it makes me think the FMS didn't auto sequence properly. This would make me wonder if the approach was loaded into the FMS correctly. Make sure when setting up the FMS that you select the approach and arrival from the DEP/ARR page and that it's selected for the Arrival airport. There are ways that the FMS can be disjointed from the navigation system, but i don't think the MSFS FMS goes that deep into the systems for it to be possible...but i'll check.
@@Flynavyj impressive response sir, will try all! Thank you kindly. I must get this right. Back to you soon. ✈️
I’m getting really close , finally got to see the centerline extend, (very late tho)..that was after fumbling around with where to put the “021”. You first put it In the scratchpad, then enter it via 6R ? “INTCPT course” ? Still a bit in the fog.
I should be exercising those formulas more , I’m to dependent on VNAV itself. My best guess.
There's nothing wrong with that at all, and it's awesome to recognize. I was simply trained at a time when my predecessors (my trainers) flew airliners that didn't have VNAV capabilities...The aircraft I flew at that time did have a limited VNAV function, but required close attention, and it was expected of us to think through the scenario as opposed to relying on inputting data into the FMS.
Flown this excellent tutorial 5 times, and I’m still not descending to the 5000’ WAYMAR , fast enough. Any more advice on VNAV? I find myself using VS, then re-engaging VNAV, to meet the 5000’ waymar , is that somewhat realistic?
Thanks for the reply, if you begin the descent late you may struggle to reach the altitude and will have to manipulate the flight guidance control panel to ensure you cross the waypoint at the correct altitude. I would verify the descent path on the MFD (Green text - it's explained at the 6:00 mark). You'll want to confirm your descent angle is between 3.0-3.5 degrees. Also, be cognizant of that the VNAV is armed prior to reaching the TOD (Top of Descent). If you're already passed the TOD, the magenta diamond (or snowflake as it's often called) will be below the aircraft horizon attitude on the PFD, at which point you'll need to descend faster to catch up with the path. Also, at any point if you reference the MFD it should provide information on the necessary descent rate (in Feet per Minute) necessary to cross the waypoint at the assigned altitude (as it's entered in the FMS). Let me know if that helps!
@@Flynavyj Will keep practicing and learning the concepts. Your tutorials add an incredible dimension, for us flight simmers, who prefer to fly realistically. !
@@danc2353 I really appreciate your comment! So happy to be helping! :) Cheers!
Are you on other social media?
@@danc2353 not with any aviation content. Just regular ole life stuff.
This is a much better base aircraft than some of the crappy payware out there.
@@한스-e8i it’s a really grey business jet for the sim! Absolutely love it!
When you landed here, it appeared the nose was pointing down, about the last 100 feet, before hitting the asphalt. Sort of a “flat “ landing. Not a lot of flare , when landing a citation?
there is a round out, and a flare, but it’s not incredibly pronounced. If you follow the descent rate in, we’re approximately nose level w the horizon, on speed (generally close) which is providing a 500 fpm descent. There’s a slight round out to slow the descent rate and a further increase in pitch attitude in the flare. In total, the pitch attitude only changed by ~5* between approach, round out, flare.
Great video series. , not much out there on CJ4 avionics. Very informative, and professional. The CJ4 in MSFS is way underrated!
Thanks! Always love to hear this! :)
That was a very kind review of a plane that would get bad reviews even if it was freeware. At the price asked it is just having a laugh. 😃
I will almost guarantee I have some bias...I really do love the CL30/35. In many ways, it has the look, and barely any of the function. That's the sad part.
Nice I didn’t know you could put the VOR ID instead of the freq. I was doing let’s say Little Rock putting in 113.9 type the short cut of 139 works really well too.
@@scootermason2746 I agree! I’ve always loved the fact that typing in the identifier works, as they’re far easier to remember than the associated frequencies.
Very well done. Thank you. I enjoy flying this plane! I use it in my FS Economy in my business. I do have my PL. Single Engine Land with IR.
Awesome, and I'm happy you like the video! Fly safe!
Very nice. One of my favorites to fly
I agree, it’s really well modeled making it pretty fun to fly!
Thanks for the review! I did see that they updated the plane last week, unfortunately they don't update the changelog in the store but do you know if there is any changes since the last video worth mentioning?
Hey, i actually saw the update the other day but the changelog wasn’t updated so i didn’t load it up. I’ll jump in over the weekend and then see if i can find what’s different!
So lucidly explained! ♥
Greatly appreciated! Hope it helps!!!
