Wild Wings
During lockdown, I have tried to collect good images of each type of bird that I have spotted in our local parks, Platt Fields and Birchfields, using a small camcorder, a Panasonic HC-V160.
CURLEW - Prodding the Seaweed
This bird has a long beak and seems to be expecting to find something tasty amongst the seaweed.

OYSTERCATCHER - Keeping out off the Water
This bird is an oystercatcher. I may be mistaken but I don't think it will catch any oysters by staying out of the water.
LITTLE EGRET - Quick and Nimble Footwork
This bird is as white as snow. It moves quickly and is nimble on its feet. When it stands, it sometimes taps its foot on the floor. It likes rummaging amongst the seaweed looking food. It doesn't look strong enough to withstand a strong gust of wind.
HOUSE MARTIN - Feeding the Nestlings
This pair of young house martins are almost ready to leave their nest. The parent birds are constantly feeding them and the meal only lasts a split second. After they have eaten they instinctively know that they shouldn't poo in their nest.
NUTHATCH - Peeping Out of the Nest
There is a little head peeping out of this nest. This little nuthatch is trying to make sense of its surroundings. It looks well grown and seems to be about to flee its nest.
NUTHATCH - Coming & Going to their Nest

short clips of nuthatches coming and going to their nest taken over the last couple of weeks.. The chicks have not shown their faces yet. Hopefully they will appear in the next week our two.
WHITE PIGEON - A Bird In Hand
It is not often that you would describe a pigeon as a beauty but this bird might fit that description. It is snow white like a swan and is an eye-catcher. It behaves like the other pigeons and associates with them but is better dressed. It is smart, too. When I sat down and held out my hand it knew this gesture meant food. This bird was quite happy to flutter up into my hand and I was quite hap...
GREAT CRESTED GREBES - Babysitting in the Water
The Grebes have moved into the water carrying their young but they haven't ventured far from their nest, only a few feet away. It is risky bringing their young out into the open water where they might be spotted by the circling black-backed gulls. Remaining close to their nest they are shielded by overhanging trees and bushes and would be difficult to spot from above.
NUTHATCH - Plastering the House
This nuthatch has found a house to live in but it needs some repairs doing. It is working as fast as it can to get the work done so it can move in as soon as possible.
RING-NECKED PARAKEETS - A Contented Couple
This pair of parakeets have found a house and seem contented here. The male, with the black collar, stays perched on a branch outside the house, like a doorman. It is only the female that goes indoors. Maybe there is not enough space for the two of them. Sometimes he pokes his head through the door and sometimes she peeps out at him and then comes out to join him on a branch..
Ring-Necked Parakeets - a Pair of Lovebirds
This pair of parakeets are very fond of each other. They have found a house and are now planning to start a family. The male bird is the one with a black collar around its neck and beneath its bill.
GREAT CRESTED GREBE - Big Fish for Small Mouths
One grebe is on the nest sheltering their three chicks, beneath its wings, whilst the other grebe is trying to feed them. All the chicks are less than one week old, the youngest being about two days old. The parent grebe is trying to feed the chicks with fish that are too big for them to eat.
Wild Birds - Free for All Takeaway
Suet Pellets and Peanuts are on the menu today and the usual suspects turn up for lunch....great tit, coal tit, blue tit, nuthatch, robin, bullfinch and a brief appearance from the long-tailed tit.
Wild Birds - Taking a Quick Snack
The blue tits, coal tits and great tits snatch a morsel of food and flee straightway. The nuthatch dwells a little bit longer and the robin longer still. The bullfinch stays the longest but a second bullfinch stays hidden in the trees.
PEACOCK - Strutting about like Royalty

CANADA GOOSE - The Goslings are Growing
Why did you not save it?
This is a public park. There is no access to the island where those birds are.
He liked the trash can!
Rats like to hang out near the trash cans
Did the Heron survive?
No. When I passed by this way again, about an hour later, the heron had already died.
Those guys'll eat anything
Good. Canadian Geese need some form of crowd control. "A local Canada goose suddenly realized Wednesday that it doesn’t have to honk like an idiot the entire time it’s flapping its wings. The goose was also startled by the realization that it didn’t have to veer dangerously close to an oncoming jet engine every single time it took to the sky." - The Onion
Heron:"SHIT SHIT FUCK FUCK LEMME GO COME ON MAN FUUUUUUUUCKKK!"
Quite bizarre ending the video like a looney tunes cartoon 🤣 you should have added the music….
Magnificent birds!
Yes, they are graceful and powerful
Oh, Tom and Jerry! Hm. Heron and Rat! Play together. Happy end.
The rat escaped off screen, as fecal matter.
"You wouldn't shit me, would you?" Rat
he entered in to the wrong hood
"Honey, I got takeout--and it's still warm!"
Damn they're being eaten by everyone!
MAN THIS REALLY TRULY SUCKS
WRONG NEIGHBORHOOD ! THIS IS COOT COUNTRY!
Come to think of it, I'm getting hungry.
Cool🤩
I love this video
Thanks. I'm pleased that you enjoy it.
Good birdie!
What kind of women there, giggling stupidly while watching the drama!?👎😕...
They didn't understand what was happening. They thought the goslings belonged to the swan and it was protecting them from the geese.
So sad!!!😱💔😖. THESE Goose Parents did not their job, there are better ones by far able to protect their goslings successfully and safe... I'm very angry and sad for I couldn't help and rescue these cute goslings...😠😖...
Whenever the swan sees Canada geese with goslings in the water, it chases the parent geese out of the water. It doesn't allow the parents to be in the water with their goslings. This leaves the goslings alone and they are easily picked up by the sea gulls, crows and herons. Goslings have no chance of survival in this water with this swan on the lake.
Love.. Good short
Thanks
(1:48) Goose screams.
Good job!
Thanks!
He got tired of fish…
People won’t complain about this person filming this but will complain about a stationary camera catching another bird attacking another birds nest or someone in the safari filming a lion catching an impala and eating it 😂
Yes, it is strange that some people blame the cameraman for the way that wild animals, and birds, behave. They are not pets. They have to look after themselves and follow their natural instinct otherwise they won't survive in the wild for long.
Sometimes, ignorance can’t be cured
We all know the rest
Because the cameraman is distracting the animals you dip💩
"Rats!" Rat
Clever bird

Amsterdam's Herons seem to eat just eggs and chickens of waterfowl, never saw them catch mice or rats, and there is plenty of them here, starting from Central Station onward. Why Don't they take a lesson or two from their English siblings? Should they came here to teach them how to do it? Maybe the Dutch ones should be informed how tasty and nutrient rat's meat is. Oh God, how much I dislike rats! Especially at 5 o clock in the morning, when I m going to catch my train, and they aren't shy at all in CS neighborhood. To be honest, I've seen a sensible decrease in rabbits, and I assume it is due to the seagulls, because they are gigantic and in great numbers around here, still no apparent change in rats' quantity, so I don't think they know yet how lekker those rodents are. How can we explain that to them? Should we transmit this very video on mega screens all around the city? PS: Paris suffer much more than we do in Holland, but having seen this with my own eyes doesn't comfort me the least...
this heron was about three months old. It had flown from the island, where its nest had been, to the public footpath which circles the lake. It wasn't bothered by pedestrians walking close by whereas the older herons keep well away from the public. Rats can sometimes be seen near litter bins and this heron must have spotted one and instinctively knew how to catch it. I think it likely that Dutch and French herons have the same instincts. Maybe your rats and mice are too smart to be caught.
leipe ratten ouwe
2:07 i wouldn't like to be that crow
I’ve seen Blue Jays and Mockingbirds attack and kill/eat small mice.
I dug the iris shot intro and exit.
"A dinosaur versus our great, great, great etc. Grand daddy. battle." Analogy-wise. Respect both animals. They survived the K-band asteroid extinction. Are birds warm-blooded?
you in the hood now!!!
Ah rodents -- the hors d'oeuvres of the critter kingdom. Good bird.
Royal flying and landing .... And the movement is fully gracious.....❤❤
Horrific.
I think we’re going to need a bigger heron.
NOTHING NEWOF MOTHER NATURE AND I M NOT SURPRISED AT ALL HERONS CROWS SEAGULLS HAWK RAVENS OWLS AND EVEN OTHER MALLARD DUCKS GO AFTER DUCKLINGS AND I SEEN THIS IN PERSON MANY TIMES OVER.I HAVE BEEN A BIRDWATCHING FOR MORE 30 YRS
You are lucky. It's all new to me. I live in a city and this bird behaviour, in a public park, is an eye opener.
@wes! So what!? You have been birdwatching for more than 30 years and you're unable to differentiate between ducklings and goslings!?😶...
Rubbish!!!!!
How can you love animals ?
i rather prefer Komodo dragons crocs and gators over this lol
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you. I'm pleased that you like it.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Why did the geese even attack it in the first place 😂 was if by the nest
this young heron flew back to the island when a pedestrian walked close by it. It landed a couple of yards away from a coots nest and they immediately attacked it. As the heron tried to flee, it got tangled in an overhanging tree and, as it flapped, it broke a wing, and fell into the water and couldn't get out. The coots kept attacking and then the geese gathered round and some of them also attacked the heron even though it was none of their business.
If you’re recording then, why are you doing not doing nothing
These birds are behaving naturally. They need to eat to survive. They like goose, I prefer chicken.
