Got the pressure plate today (bought used on eBay), tried it out on a hardwood floor. On the third swing it shot out from under me and I landed hard on my right hip. Obviously I did something wrong (like putting it on a wood floor), but has this been a common problem? My girlfriend wants me to throw it out, now.
It's not meant to be used on hardwood floor. Soft carpet or grass is best
Where do you buy it? It's not on your site?
Here's the link! whygolf.com/products/power-wedge
I have had mine for about a year, only used it once. I’m really wanting to use this every time at the range. Is this pressure plate only good for irons? Or can you use driver, fairway woods, hybrids? Thanks you
It's good through the bag. Depending on how tall you are, you may need your feet hanging slightly off the edges when hitting driver. But the good news is any progress made with your irons will translate to your driver swing. Thanks!
What grip are you using?
yeah, a high draw driver LOL
you can still cheat

Useless instrument
*said while a PGA Tour Winner extols said instrument
Weight on inside of trail thigh then transition weight from that feel to lead foot. Yes.
Dude is like . I don't need this BS
What grip do the other 10% use?
Hockey grip on a couple
And broomstick
Golf is quite literally the most pointless thing in existence. The "skills" you must obtain to become good are not used anywhere else in life. It makes much more sense if you view it as a rich mans games to be driven around, dropped off so they can swing a club at a ball then be driven to the next drop off point to repeat until they are drunk enough to call it a day. Hence the 18 gotdamn holes.
Who hurt you?
it's pointed to the left!!
Went in though 😂🎉
Scheffler's swing works for him, but is not one to be copied.
Correct! We just are pointing out that he really gets to his lead side at impact (as do virtually all professionals).
Quick question. Why not preset that (left position) at address and play from there? What are the pros and cons of that?
Exactly?
Watch saguto golf.
You absolutely can play from the lead side. There's a good chance your contact and swing path will become more consistent. The main drawback is that you likely won't be able to generate as much power. Virtually everyone who plays golf on tour shifts pressure to their back foot during the swing, which probably means there's something to it. However, we can envision a variety of scenarios where staying on that lead side throughout the whole swing makes sense (golfers with physical limitations, newer golfers, etc.). Hope this helps!
When will the wedge be available for purchase?
This coming week! If you're on our email list, you'll be the first to know!

Hi Brian and Amy thank you for the video. You dialed in the back disc, club length and then 6 inches inside target line. My question is how about the front disc? Same as the back disc? 1 club length and six inches outside target line?
Yes, this is a good place to start!
you need to move so we can see path and face #'S!
Yep nailed it. Lifelong golfer and low handicapper that deals with blocks and hooks. I stick a shaft by my left hips and rotate to try to avoid hitting it vs swaying forward.
Is this for iron only? It feels weird when I use driver on this plate
Yes driver may not make sense - especially if you are a taller person. But working with irons will translate to your driver swing. Thanks for the comment
Any drills with driver
Overpriced rug 😂😂😂
Is the 50 degree hole for driver and 65 for wedge?
For most golfers, yes. Just try to get the angle of the rod as close to the angle of your club's shaft at address. Thanks!
Worst instructions ever. Do better why golf. The website is just as bad with the instruction section.
This isn't an instructions video, Dan. We have a bunch more videos here: whygolf.com/pages/armalarm-training
What a coincidence! Just watched a replay of the 1995 Masters final round.
That's awesome
How do you have that set I have the disc and can’t get it to look like that for draw
We changed the design of the discs a few months ago - they are functionally the same!
When I’m on the green where, between the ball and the cup, should I be measuring the slope to get the correct reading for the cards? Should I be closer to the cup because the ball takes more break as it slows down?
Yes, that's a good intuition. We'd recommend reading the green slightly closer than half way to the hole since the ball will generally break more near the hole. Thanks for the question!
Hi, I just got mine in the mail today. I see the stance in this video is wider than normal for an iron shot. Should we stand this wide for the feedback? I tried standing more narrow (my typical iron set up) and I lose my balance a lot easier.
Hi, yes standing a touch wider will allow you to feel exactly where your weight is throughout your swing. You can go back to your normal stance when hitting shots normally, but when on the board it's good to really feel that weight shift happening. Thanks for the question!
I love this, buying it now
Is there a number on the disc generally recommended for this drill? I would assume it varies from player to player. However, I was curious if there’s a number that seems to work best on average. The rod appears to be at either 60 or 65 in this video.
It depends on the angle of your club's shaft at address ie. shallower for driver and steeper for irons. You're right on - it varies player to player. Thanks for the question!
Just got my full putting set, really excited to use it. Am i correct in assuming 1 pace = 3 feet? Thanks
That's exactly right. Thanks
@@why_golf i see on the green cards that you should feel the put 2/3rd of the way down? But shouldn’t we account for the most severe slope on the putt as a whole?
@@why_golf I recently got the putting set and it’s amazing! Can someone confirm that it’s legal to use in play? I know in the video he says something like, “…USGA approved cheating” but it works so well, I don’t even feel right about it. 😂 I’ve tried researching and I am not sure.
@@Papation We received word directly from the USGA that our Green Cards are USGA legal - including USGA events. You can absolutely use them with your friends, club championship, etc. However, some independent golf tours have their own rules (like the PGA Tour) that prevent players from using green reading materials - if you're in doubt check with a rules official. Love to hear you're liking them :)
@@why_golf Thank you!
Really smart design
Appreciate it!
when you measure outdoors…..do you measure on the flattest part of the green? or straight uphill/straight downhill?
Flat is better. Measure both directions and take the average of the two readings. Thanks for the question
how many dots on the tether should I use for this drill?
Hi Linh, it really depends on hard hard you want to make it for yourself. We'd recommend 7-8 notches to start and adjust as needed. For a player who struggles to keep their arms connected, it may be a couple more notches and vise-versa. Thanks!
@@why_golf thanks! I practiced with it yesterday. 16 notches for the elbows and 7 notches at forearms seem to do the trick. It let me know right away I had the flying elbow in my backswing. Such a great product I'm so glad I got it.
@@LinhTran-wh7ud Thrilled you like it! :)
If the up or down slope is 8%, 2% side slope and 4 paces what is the reading then for break? My real question is if the % are larger than on the card. Thanks.
Good question. 8% is an extreme slope - you won't find anything close to that near a pin location. The maximum slope you'll typically see around a pin location is 4% and that's quite rare - the superintendent probably made an error. If you're putting over a steep ridge, Green Cards won't be super useful. But luckily the vast majority of putts golfers face are not over ridges. Does that help?
The setup on the second only works if you transition the golf club correctly otherwise your gonna break something.
Go slow at first, then speed it up once you get that transition down!
@why_golf, if you transition the golf club correctly, you dont need to use this to learn how to hit a draw or a fade. You just change ball position to do that... it would be better used as a device to help you not sway off the ball or to help you stay in posture or help you to not have a reverse c move.
@@seanmcnaughton1503 Yes and it's probably safe to say most amateur golfers don't transition the club properly. Thanks
F*** that
Joy - sorry you're feeling this way
When you line up the stimp meter to the ball, where do you take the measured stimp number at? Middle of the ball?
Great question. Your intuition is correct, to the middle of the ball. Thanks for the comment!
Is it best practice to lay the stimp meter on the ball to get the reading, or move the ball and get the reading from the putter thing laying flat on the green?
Maybe bc ur inside
SO TRUE!
Mini John Daly
When setting this up with the disk by your left foot(for a right handed swing) will this allow me to stop hitting huge hooks? I have the disc and want to focus on keeping my follow through more down the line Vs turning over hard left. I hit a draw and have the second disc setup on my backside but want to make sure that using this disc of the left foot and inside of the target line will force a straighter shot?
If you're hitting hooks, your swing path is likely too far out to the right (for righties). I would suggest setting up a disc near your left foot but on the opposite side of the target line so you're forced to swing more left. This should straighten out your swing path. More info here: whygolf.com/blogs/whysguyscorner/how-to-hit-a-fade
I think you guys should make a better video on which dot to choose for which part of the arm
That's good feedback. Thanks
This looks like the Crossings at Carlsbad
That would be correct!
What is the black piece underneath the plate? Mine just has spikes and twists out of position when used in my studio. Thank you.
It's just a shadow.
Stop letting him in the cart walk a few holes it wouldn't hurt.
