FNAF1 runs on constant parallel RNG checks that range between 1 and 20 for each of the possible animatronics (Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy). If the number rolled is less than the animatronic's AI level, then they succeed in their movement opportunity. Most of animatronics (Freddy, Bonnie, Chica) traverse the pizzeria in a set path, starting at the Show Stage (Cam 1A) and making their way towards your office. When Bonnie (left door) or Chica (right door) approach your office from their respective halls you can see them when illuminating the office light on that side. If they are visible, close the door (turn the light off to conserve power) and wait. If you see them somewhere else on the cameras or you flicker the door light and no one is visible then you are free to open the door until their next approach. Meanwhile Foxy will start in Pirate's Cove (Cam 1C) with the curtains closed on him. Throughout the night Foxy will progressively open the curtains more and more, until he has fully opened the curtains and left to get to your office. A misconception some people have is thinking you need to keep the camera open on Pirate's Cove to slow him down, however you don't actually have to look at Foxy to keep him from progressing through his cycle. Rather you just need to keep the camera open on any camera, however you obviously want to check on his specific camera from time to time to see when he's about to run towards the office. When he charges towards your office he will always run towards the left door. Close it before he gets to you and he won't kill you, but will take away some of your power. Each time you let Foxy bang on your door, he takes away more power. Finally Freddy. Without getting too much into the specifics Freddy works similar to both Bonnie/Chica and Foxy. Similar to Bonnie/Chica, Freddy starts at the Show Stage (Cam 1A) and everytime* he succeeds a movement opportunity he will move closer and closer to your office until he enters the hall to your right on Cam 4B. Freddy will then stay there for the entire remainder of the night until you either win or die. The way to combat Freddy is similar to Foxy however, having the cameras open on any camera will give him less movement opportunities, making him take longer to get to your office and give you more time until you have to deal with him right next to you. However, if he does reach your office all is not over. Freddy is a little unique where as long as you either have the camera open ON HIS CAMERA (Cam 4B) OR the right door is closed, he cannot enter your office. This means that if you are unfortunate enough to have Freddy reach your right door, you can constantly defend against him, however he will be a battery drain for the rest of the night.
