Right! It should, in practice, work with any pedal. There’s a chance you might be tensing somewhere in the process… It could also be that you’ve got your pedal setup in a way that it’s not fully responding to what you’re giving to it. Try the tips on the video, and if you’re still finding it tough, I’d be happy to help you out with a quick online session about it! 😊

@@NicholasSchlesinger Thanks - I can`t seem to set the pedal to a point where the board is high enough. The distance between the board and the floor is merely 2-3 c"m no matter what I do with the settings. (which doesn`t leave enough room for the wiggle motion). Online sessions sounds swell. i`ll drop an email.

I see! OK. There is a way of increasing the pedal board height without affecting beater settings (perhaps have a Google / search on UA-cam if you haven’t already, of course). I’ve done it before, and although it’s been a while, I’m not in front of my drums right now to check. When you say it’s 2 - 3cm off the floor, is that with the relaxed weight of your foot resting on the pedal, or without you touching / applying any pressure on it?

Awesome! Yes, the outro was a bit tough, but think that if you can play bridge after the chorus before the verses, you can play the outro. It’s exactly the same, pretty much. I’d start by playing the tom groove with the kicks, then add the half-time backbeat on 3, and the cymbal accents last. Link me to it if you do a cover of it! 😊

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. I can tell you, however, that the sound using the technique depends on how much energy you put into each stroke, as that changes the velocity of the beater and therefore the sound of note. Furthermore, the technique is mainly used to play fast notes, so I would hesitate from using it in slow situations. Hope that helps! 😀

Hey! I pick random patterns exercises from pages 5 - 11 for the feet, and then I try playing exercises 5 - 8 on page 5 (i.e. the Paradiddle inversions) with the hands on top of the feet. If you’re gonna try it, approach listening out for the “melodies” from each foot pattern under the hand melodies. 😊
