Wop was a racial slur used against us it had multiple meanings yes it was also “with out papers” its to make fun of the immigrants who snuck their way into America. I have heard this acronym used in a more ethnically generic sense, which is why I thought it was interesting that it was pointed out in that conversation -- it didn't initially occur to me in the context of the song that Wop had any meaning! Interesting to know the history of the word, though.
"Wop" does NOT mean "without papers"; it's derived from the Italian word "guappo", meaning "dandy" or "swaggerer".
That's where the word came from but it was taken as an offensive title to Italians bc a lot of them did come illegally
