Mk4 Tdi Auto to Manual Swap (Part 1)
A video made to help anyone thinking about or in the process of swapping their mk4 Jetta/golf from Auto to Manual. This video was made specifically when dealing with 4 speed automatic and does not include all the steps required to Manual swap a car with the tiptronic 5 speed auto. Hope this video helps and feel free to comment any questions you may have, I’ll do my best to answer them.

How u get alternator bracket bolts out?
Can't see the rest of the videos? Only one part?
ZZZT ZZZT woops that was supposed to loosen the plug. Welp, we were taking the head off anyway 😅
Yes plz make one for the tiptronic i have an 06 golf tdi (mk4 bew but engine is an engine right? Ill figure out the other shit) my tranny was toasted and is knocking so im not ripping it apart, would rather have a manual anyway
YES FOLKS THERE IS NO PART TOO BECAUSE THIS WAS DONE SO HALF-ASSED BACKWARDS THAT THERE'S NO WAY THAT THIS MODE AROUND PROPERLY WHEN HE WAS DONE THAT'S WHY THERE IS NO PART TOO, THANK GOD FOR THAT BECAUSE THIS WAS ONE OF THE MOST DISTURBING VIDEOS I EVER SEEN OF A SO-CALLED MECHANIC TRYING TO DO A SIMPLE JOB
Please explain to me how you're always saying through the video that it's a pain in the butt to get this and that off. My goodness this is an easy job man
I’m removing both heads where do I need to set the marks at
I know it's 3 years late, but i would like to know if you just took the 2 bolts from the alternator braket but were still able to take the timing cover off the engine. I rounded up the 3 one in the back so i wont be able to take it off.
This old but I never put the rear stud back in once it came out. I've heard of others replacing it with a bolt like the bottom two
Impact on spark plug got me but not knowing where #1 is where you lost me, Hint imagine where the toque converter is sit on it with legs around the motor and number 1 is on the right and closest to you, good luck
Mine is 2003 jetta hatchback, is this mk4? Please reply, i love your video.thanks in advance.
Yes
Pretty cool video and very informative but....why the F*CK did you record it in portrait mode? 2/3s of the screen is blank....*facepalm*
Hey man. In the process is doing mine in my 2002 TDI Jetta. I have everything hooked up mechanically but the car won’t start now. Any ideas? Thanks man
still waiting for pt 2😭
We need a part two! Lol I want to see how you do the wiring and stuff
To get to the exhaust studs... You have to remove the alternator to get to them?
Part two?
I almost passed out when you took the impact to the plug. You got me good on that one
🤣
Dude! Thank you so much. Now I decided not to mess up with head gasket :)
Could you please tell me why you will use 53 relais?
Where’s the second video
Too lazy to watch whole 36mins, how to do P cheat on PD130 auto to manual swap?😁
The reason you have to remove the head with the engine in the "neutral" position is that engine is an interference engine and you would more than likely bend the valves if you didn't have it in the "neutral" position with no pressure.
is this the same for BEW?
Question: In order to change head gaskets, would you have to remove the whole head?
Yes, the head will have to be removed to replace the head gasket.
Make more videos dude this is really good. But do it horizontal lol
Thanks man, I'm starting to work on more videos again.
HAHAHA u got me with the impact spark plug thing
Awesome! Thanks for the tips
Working on it, have the film I just have to edit it.
wheres part 2 you heathen
Good lord sir. When you blasted that plug in with the impact I was about to lose it!
I’ve got the same exact issue as you. Dude before me used an impact and stripped 5/6 of the plugs 😂
@@TheDeadCylinders wow that sucks, are you able to coil them? My issue was someone had already coiled it and the coil blew out.
@@Tylongkong I was able to coil one of them and repair three others. But there are two plugs that refuse to come out they are so stuck I have to resort to just doing the heads. Super frustraiting.
Do you have a link for Part 2?
I haven't posted it, if you need it I'll work on editing it.
@@Tylongkong No worries, figured it out. Thanks though, first video helped!
@@Tylongkong Please post a part 2.
@@ethanhoullahan5423 alright ill work in it tonight. I have the video I just need to edit it
@@Tylongkong Any chance the part 2 of this coming out soon?
Ahhh that's suck job
I'm so glad that spark plug was a joke lol, I can't tell you how far my balls went up in me lol
Thank you! Have the same engine in an MPV, think yours is the only video on head replacement for this engine
You prolly dont care but if you're stoned like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all of the new movies and series on Instaflixxer. Have been streaming with my gf for the last days xD
@Lennon Vihaan Yup, have been using instaflixxer for since november myself :D
