KONY's WAR & Hopeless Futures
An Army Truck, Guns and World Food Program (WFP), these toys reflect the only life these kids have ever known. This story reflects the MILLIONS of lives that have been destroyed both directly and INDIRECTLY because of Joseph Kony. Spokesman, Charles Biweka, also provides a useful insight: hands outs do not = help. If you want to help you need to adopt a sustainable approach.
This film was taken in an IDP Camp not far from Gulu in Jan 2009.

As a former child solider from Kony's early days (1989), Ahkhana describes how is was forced to kill in order to save his own life. Towards the end of the interview Ahkhana talks of Kony's 'magic powers' and testify's that with his own eyes he saw too much magic for him not to be gifted. This interview was filmed from within a hut in an Internally Displaced Peoples's (IDP) camp not far from Gul...

      He is not a murderer! He was induced to kill. I was a scout in secondary school when the rebels were active. We were taught how to use guns to safeguard other school mates. It wasn't easy. Government soldiers were tired of war.

    Too bad Noam isn't actually saying anything helpful or constructive here. Yes, corporatism is bad, but it is in no way an inherent problem of capitalism. Capitalism can't be blamed, since we haven't had capitalism. Government is to blame for corporatism since the unbridled power it wields is the object of corruption. Not the other way around.

    Hi Mat, I'm in no way related to the KONY 2012 campaign, I am an individual from Australia who visited Uganda alone with no organisation in 2008, the video is independent of any organisation / influence and presents the genuine views of those in the film. Having been there I have seen for myself the situation and hence why I support the campaign as an independent individual... if you watch my other videos you will see that none of them relate to Invisible Children...so there is no 'consipracy'

    @hillarypelleycwu all bollocks... all u need to know is how ruthless and evil the american government is, killing innocent people all the time, taking resources from foreign land.. asking for american military intervention is gunna result in what's been happening in the middle east for the last 10 years now and the kony2012 video is gunna achieve exactly that if it succeeds.. the ugandan people have already made it clear.. THEY DON'T WANT IT, THEY DON'T NEED IT!

    I thank Invisible Children for bringing this to the attention of the world...I can't stress how hard it is! So this was an amazing achievement in itself and IC ought to really be praised for this. The issue is more complex than portrayed but people also have short attention spans. So introducing complexity into vid wuld hav defeated purpose. But I think the sceptics also have their place because they are doing the important job of making people aware that the issues are complex!

    @jack10133 and @13365488 Gentleman, there is a great alternative out there and it is as descriptive and coherent as you would like it to be. Please look into The Venus Project. The Zeitgeist Movement, made famous by the Zeitgeist Trilogy of films, advocates the fundamental facet of The Venus Project weaning us away from capitalism in a monetary society to a science and technology based society in a Resource Based Economy. watch?v=1gKX9TWRyfs

    We also have, not only power as citizens but also as consumers and since the business community has indeed become one of the most dominant institutions exercising extraordinary influence in our lives today; we should each recognise that a business cannot survive without a consumer. Therefore it is within our collective power to define and demand sustainable and ethical business standards/practises, which inturn will shape and define the world we live in.

  • @13365488
    @13365488 15 років тому

    Personally I advocate a more aware and active citizenry. I hope enough people will recognise this moral obligation that calls us to action and participate more within their local , state and national politics I hope they will engage the wider population in awareness and political campaigns and openly challenge our somewhat complacent leaders who are sadly obsessed with policies that will win them the next election.

  • @13365488
    @13365488 15 років тому

    With more people educated than ever before across developed and even developing nations, why is it that so many remain so apathetic to politics? Why are we so intensely focused on our short term personal wellbeing? Why are so many of us incapable of relating todays actions to tomorrows consequences? Do we not see that our individually enjoyed lifestyles characterised by excessive consumerism, material accumulation and gross wastefulness will, in time, lead to our collective destruction?

  • @13365488
    @13365488 15 років тому

    Unfortunately I cant provide a descriptive & coherent alternative model, I can only comment. Personally I beleive the time has come for us to start thinking creatively of how we can design a new alternative within capitalism that allows us to be sustainable. Otherwise we may very well have to start thinking of radical alternatives that incorporate the lessons we have learnt from the past and include our scientific and technological advancements in the process.
