Thank God for this information God bless you Dr. for painstakingly pointing out. This in such an excellent book without Christ. We are all dead and separated from God for eternity. I’m shocked and surprised that we have not more comments on the comment page. Maybe that means that no one has actually looked at this video. You probably should be the most watched video in the history of UA-cam.✌🏾

I know this is a year late but I just listened to a conference session by James Lindsay that made the connection between the neo-Marxist and post-modern aspects of woke ideology. It is called “The Role of Consciousness and the Evolution of the Gospel of Marxism.” I wonder what you two would think about it. Thank you for this discussion.

I used to have such tremendous respect for Ehrman. But, after some cross examination his claims are desperate & reaching. Mike Winger made up a parody of reporting on 9/11 using Ehrman's methodology: "In one video the plane comes from the left; in another it's on the right! Which one is it? In one video the plane banks sharply into the building; in another it flies straight! Which is it?! In one video there are multiple planes; in another there is ONLY one! Which one is it? Other accounts say it was the Pentagon, not the Towers, which was hit by a plane! To make things worse we have accounts of the plane failing to hit any building at all!" He then goes on to speak of four distinct and contradictory flight plans and states, "well, which one is it?" There were four flights that were credited with being hijacked and only two planes crash into the Twin Towers. "Some of the investigators take all of the footage & witness accounts & smash them together into one account where you have multiple planes hitting from different directions, multiple targets, and one plane failing to hit its target at all. But then you have made your OWN video because NONE of the videos show that!" "Why You Don't Let Bart Ehrman Interpret the Bible For You"

What a load of rubbish. I cannot believe that an intelligent, talented person descend's to the level of engaging in these practices and making a career out of this. If you feel I have included you in the above sentence I have. I listened to your series on Astrology, but truthfully, many people would drift so persistently and joyously towards astrology. And divination? Why?? Praise God that you are saved. I have hope.

This postmodernism is really the germ seed of mysticism or modern gnosticism. (The demiurge is a liar therefore no truth exists in its world, only someone from outside this world can say truth, and those that parrot it). To know it's not possible to know is a claim to know, and so only those people who claim it's not possible to know, are to be believe entirely on faith and there is no possible way to disprove them if you accept the premise. And so a scientistic elite arises. The ones who who have deified knowledge, or are indeed claiming implicitly to have gotten this knowledge by some secret revelation of a being outside of reality.

Titus Kennedy! Dude you are a new breed/generation of people that is going to blow this thing sky wide! Anyone with half a brain is going to see how the evidence of the exodus is just overwhelmingly piling up. And thank you for your courage to go against the profound cowardice of the main stream people (academy) who just swim in the same direction as everyone else, all the time. Thank you for contending for truth. Any time people are breaking new ground in truth there will be contention! Every pioneer has always faced this. It’s the cowards who are not willing to let new evidence challenge their paradigms. Extreme intellects are usually cowardice. And they’re never really strong in faith. Because there’s a NEVER ENDING perspective to choose or even make up. And many of them can’t move until A,B,C,D,E and F are all perfectly in place. Perfect place, perfect time and overwhelming beautiful coalescence of resounding evidence! Even if they ad hominem attack you nonstop, just know you are doing tremendous good by having the courage to go against the swarms of fish that go the same direction.

The "spiderman fallacy" is not a well thought out argument. Nice try on part of atheist and skeptics, look at evidence of the men who gave there lives even to generations after the time of Christ to see that no one ever gave their lives (especially in very violent and grotesque ways) for a "comic book" fairytale.

Appropriately dealing with The Shroud of Turin as an archeological artifact is to not mention it at all, if you're referring to anything related to Jesus. Definition of Belief: an acceptance that something exists or is true, especially one without proof Definitions of Truth: the quality or state of being true Definiton of Fact: a thing that is known or proved to be true. As you can see Belief does not have the same definition as Truth nor the same definition as Fact. They are not synonyms. Maybe truth and fact are synonyms. However, a belief is neither truth nor fact. Get your definitions straight. Christianity is a belief not a truth.

    • @minyanminyan9723

Where did you get that definition of "belief"? That is a fabricated definition and not from any credible source for word definitions. Try this one from MW: "conviction of the truth of some statement or the reality of some being or phenomenon especially when based on examination of evidence."

Good and bad are rather woolly labels and ought to be avoided, methinks. What most people deem either good or bad are for the most part mere preferences , predilections, partialities: likes and dislikes. Metaphysical evil is anti-life , more specifically anti-human life. Effeteness is metaphysical evil made manifest and fecundity is moral goodness reified. Any action, idea , thought , or ideology with anti-life underpinnings is metaphysically evil (evil in an absolute sense , evil beyond time and space, beyond epochs, cultures, temporal specificities, ephemera , etc.) and absolute good is everything else arrayed in opposition to practices which are intent upon the ultimate annihilation of human life. Jesus came so that we may have life and life in abundance. Thus, every thing that in some way (however trivial in nature) is anti the life-giving and life-affirming magnanimity of Christ is evil-tainted.

Great point... Justice is God's term, not to reinvented or interpreted apart from the sacred text/ God's Holy Writ. 'Justice' is a theological term and concept God gives to man; it's not to be accepted in a missappied ideology, [e.g. Lutherans for Racial Justice] that adds an adjective [i.e. racial] to change it, and mandate that others accept it, as still being God's Truth.

Luciano if one is going to criticise, then one ought to make a clearer and more coherent argument. Stating slogans, sans explanation or example is not helpful. Are your comments not examples of subjective bias? Do you actually have an argument, or a clear point of disagreement? What is the 'egotistical fantasy'? BTW - priviledged is a better spelling.

"When we say…Jesus Christ…was produced without sexual union, and was crucified and died, and rose again, and ascended to heaven, ***we propound nothing new or different*** *from what you believe regarding those whom you call Sons of God. [In fact]…if anybody objects that [Jesus] was crucified, this is in* ***common*** *with the sons of Zeus (as you call them) who suffered, as previously listed [he listed Dionysus, Hercules, and Asclepius].* Since their fatal sufferings are all narrated as not similar but different, so his unique passion should not seem to be any worse." *Note how Justin (Martyr) is less of a fool than modern Christian apologists. He admits that differences don’t matter.* Since each and every one of the suffering and dying gods are slain by different means, one cannot argue the mytheme requires exactly the same means of death. “But Osiris can’t have inspired the Jesus myth because Osiris wasn’t nailed to a cross” is a stupid argument. The mytheme is simply death. Being killed. Suffering and dying. The exact mode of death can vary freely. It makes no difference to the existence and influence of the mytheme. It’s simply the particular instantiation of a generic abstraction. *And Justin’s argument (that Satan invented these fake religions to confuse people) entails Justin agreed the mytheme existed: indeed, it was demonically promulgated, multiple times. Intentionally.* *Likewise, Justin notices the mytheme is not virgin birth, but sexless conception. Of which many examples had already been popularized in pagan mythology (there just happens to also have been examples of actual virgin born gods as well). And by his argument (that the Devil was deliberately emulating the Jesus mytheme, in advance), Justin clearly accepted the same principle for “rising again” after death:* the particular exact metaphysics of the resurrection could, like the exact method of death or conception, vary freely. The mytheme consists solely of the abstraction: returning to life. Somehow. Some way. We will say bodily, at the very least. But what sort of body (the same one, a new one, a mortal one, an immortal one), didn’t matter. *If it had, Justin would have made the argument that “those gods” weren’t really resurrected. But that argument, never occurs to him. Nor did it to any other apologist of the first three centuries.* *Ancient Christians well knew there was nothing new about their dying-and-rising god. Not in respect to the mytheme.* Their claims were solely that his particular instantiation of it was better, and the only one that actually happened. *They didn’t make up the stupid modern arguments that dying-and-rising god myths didn’t exist or weren’t part of a common mytheme everyone knew about. For example, in the same century, Tertullian, in Prescription against Heretics 40, makes exactly the same argument as Justin. Funny that. They had better access to the evidence than we do. They knew what was really and widely the case. We should listen to them.* Google *"Dying-and-Rising Gods: It's Pagan, Guys. Your evidence defeats your argument that the Jesus history is myth in the same way the pagan stories are myth. This is precisely what the ancient apologists were demonstrating, is that if the mytheme was accepted why object on philosophical grounds? Now let's move to the history of Jesus which wasn't made up, it happened less than 200 years before the apologists you quote, furthermore the Jesus story is unique because the Hebrew God is unique, the theos is logos is platos argument against the myths. The the Hebrew history is unique, he conquerd the Egyptian and mesopotamian and Greek gods. The Hebrew concept of Messiah is unique, he is the embodied creator not a member of a pantheon, but the very creator of the gods in the pantheon. This is what makes Jesus different, because his resurrection was vindication that he was the victorious Hebrew God and the actual fulfillment of the mytheme that was hinted at by the pagans. Furthermore, the mytheme of the Jesus story was not based on the pagan myths, but on biblical prophecy, hence the ancient apologists said why argue against similarities OF THE TYPE we both accept when it is the differences that matter, they are using the mytheme as TYPOLOGY, and then moving to actual events that happend only as far back as their great great grandparents.

The following quote from Stephen L. Harris, Professor Emeritus of Humanities and Religious Studies at California State University- Sacramento, completes this point with a devastating argument. *Jesus did not accomplish what Israel’s prophets said the Messiah was commissioned to do:* He did not deliver the covenant people from their Gentile enemies, reassemble those scattered in the Diaspora, restore the Davidic kingdom, or establish universal peace (cf.Isa. 9:6-7; 11:7-12:16, etc.). Instead of freeing Jews from oppressors and thereby fulfilling God’s ancient promises-for land, nationhood, kingship, and blessing- *Jesus died a “shameful” death, defeated by the very political powers the Messiah was prophesied to overcome.* Indeed, the Hebrew prophets did not foresee that Israel’s savior would be executed as a common criminal by Gentiles, *making Jesus’ crucifixion a “stumbling block” to scripturally literate Jews.* (1 Cor.1:23) ------------------------------------------------------------------ The end is near? *The Bible’s New Testament contains a drumbeat of promises that Jesus is ready to return any day now, implying that it will happen so soon that it would be wise to keep it in mind when making any kind of life decision. But it didn’t happen.* The following is a sample of verses professing this theme: Matt 10:23: [Jesus said to his disciples] *‘When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next;* ***for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel, before the Son of man comes’.*** (They fled through the towns but the Son of Man never came) Matt 16:28: [Jesus said to the disciples], *‘Truly, I say to you,* ***there are some standing here*** *who will not taste death* before they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom’. Mark 9:1: And he [Jesus] said to them [the disciples], *‘Truly, I say to you,* ***there are some standing here*** *who will not taste death* before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power’. Mark 13:30: *[After detailing events up to end of world, Jesus says]* ‘Truly, I say to you, ***this generation will not pass away*** *before all these things take place’.* Mark 14:62: And Jesus said ***[to the high priest - died 1st cent. AD]*** ‘You will see the Son of man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven’. (The high priest died and never saw the Son of Man) Rom 13:12: The day is *at hand.* 1 Cor 7:29: The appointed time has grown very short; from now on, *let those who have wives live as though they had none.* (Funny thing to say if you didn’t think the end was imminent) 1 Cor 7:31: For the form of this world is *passing away.* Phil 4:5: The Lord is *coming soon.* 1 Thess 4:15: *We who are alive, who are left* until the coming of the Lord. Hebrews 1:2: *In these last days* he has spoken to us by a Son. Hebrews 10:37: For yet a little while, and the coming one shall come and *shall not tarry.* James 5:8: The coming of the Lord is *at hand.* 1 Peter 1:20: He [Christ] was destined before the foundation of the world but was made manifest at the *end of the times.* 1 Peter 4:7: The end of all things is *at hand.* 1 John 2:18: *It is the last hour;* and as you have heard that antichrist is coming. Rev 1:1: The revelation of Jesus Christ (i.e., the end of the world)…to show to his servants what must *soon take place.* Rev 3:11: [Jesus said] ‘I am *coming soon’.* Rev 22:6: And the Lord…has sent his angel to show his servants what must *soon take place.* Rev 22:20: [Jesus said] ‘Surely I am *coming soon’.* *It is puzzling to understand why Christianity survived the failure of this prediction. It is not ambiguous.* This would be like a rich uncle who promises to give you $10,000 ‘very soon.’ Ten years pass and he still hasn’t given anything to you, but he still says he will do it very soon. Would you still believe that it will happen any day? No, you would realize that it is a false promise. *For some reason, Christians cannot comprehend that they have been scammed. Tim McGrew is a brilliant philosopher who presents a much needed perspective on NT studies. Bless him and Lydia for the work they do in making the end product accessible to laypeople - I very well may have never become a Christian if they hadn’t.

If it would be possible to share a summary or even a presentation here, that would be useful. I’m producing a course to encourage peoples be equipped to “give a reason” and I’m considering gathering a dictionary style resource where you can look up subjects and find a summary and links to further information. Thank you

As complex as this subject matter is, this is a basic summary. It’s tough to distill a Everest mountain of evidence down to oversimplified info.

I guess my Qaraoun Culture Hypothesis will be an advancement on this. I wonder when it will get peer reviewed...?

I don't think the Abrahamic family went from Ur to Caanan, I think they went BACK from Ur to Caanan.
