How to Grow and Care for Anthurium 4K
Переглядів 2 тис.Місяць тому
Anthuriums can be grown outdoors in tropical climates, but are more often kept as houseplants or in greenhouses due to their specific care needs. Growth rate is slow or moderate and dependent on ample light but an easy target for sunburn. They are picky, but their uniquely beautiful flowers make them worth the extra effort. Anthuriums grown indoors in ideal conditions often bloom year round. Vi...

What a contradiction.... Orchids are tropical plants, then give them ice cubes. No way. I live in the Caribbean,a tropical environment. I will NEVER give my orchids ice cubes. They flower all year round for me
That might be correct for the Caribbean. But in the United States we feed them with ice cubes!!
@@glovanajnbaptiste2272 3 ice cubes = 1/4 cup of water. The idea is to feed them with the right amount of water, and since ice cubes don’t shock them, it’s easy to water like that so you don’t use excess water which is really bad for them. Since you are at the Caribbean with hot temperatures and high humidity it doesn’t matter if you over water them. But in the United States it does matter.
@@ecologist86 I agree 💯🙏🥰❤️

Absolutely beautiful video, and gorgeous collections of Cactus!! Did you buy all of those big ones, or you propagated those? I really appreciate your passion! You are amazing. I never tried growing cactus, but after watching this, you certainly inspired me. Thanks 👌 🥰 I was actually looking for new (2024) fall foliage video, are you going to post any? 👌
@@AmandaGreen125 Really appreciate your support and encouragement 🙏🥰❤️ I only bought a small plant of each variety, and propagated to multiple plants. I propagated those big ones. They are very easy growing. Yes the fall video will be my next one 😊
Absolutely Gorgeous collections of Cactus!! I love it..🥰😍 Thanks for sharing these useful tips. Now I know why my Christmas Cactus are not reblooming!! When you propagate, how often you water them? Is it the same rules apply as the fully grown ones? When you fertilize it? ☺
Thank you dear!! Yes, same rules apply : whenever the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. You fertilize it after they root, and start to put out new growth. ❤🙏🥰

Thank you mam

@@lilynongtdu1744 I have explained that in the video, time: 4:07
Wow!! Beautiful video. I watched this video over and over. What a gorgeous collections that you have!! I have tried growing Anthuriums, but no luck. Like you mentioned, there are so many misleading care info. Finally I have tips that makes lots of sense, and your plants are thriving well to it, one question, I thought in the summer, they are ok under direct sunlight outside, but you repeatedly said indirect sunlight! Can you elaborate a little more?
No direct sunlight!!😄
@rennypuli2759 filtered light! Thank you so much 🙏❤️🥰
Thanks for sharing a great video Giji.. I am struggling with my orchids. I have wrinkled, turning yellow drooping leaves. What does indicate that?
A droopy, wrinkly appearance is usually a sure sign of a watering problem and in some cases a root problem. I have listed these under Common Problems With Orchids, including how to treat them on my website at JustGiji.com, or justgiji.com/how-to-grow-and-care-for-orchids/
@@JustGiji This was also my biggest issue. Thanks for the clear explanation!!

Thank you Giji! Very useful information. I heard wear gloves when handling anthuriums because their sap can irritate the skin! Is that true?
@@treehugger5852 Thank you so much!! Yes that is correct 👍 Forgot to mention that in the video, but added that information on my website. Wear gloves when handling anthuriums because their sap can irritate the skin. You can also wipe your cutting tools with rubbing alcohol or a bleach solution to prevent bacterial infection. It doesn’t bother me, but I should have wear gloves to prune, since it’s a proven fact 😔
Thanks 🙏

Thank you 🙏 ☺
Thanks for another great video! 👏👏👏I've been able to grow Phalaenopsis orchids and have them thrive for a year now. But it only bloomed once, and a new bloom spike came, but never bloomed!! Do you know why?
Orchids need bright, indirect light to rebloom. If the leaves are a grassy green color, the plant is getting enough light. If the leaves are a rich, dark green, the plant isn't getting enough light. I am glad you liked the video, also visit JustGiji.com, or justgiji.com/how-to-grow-and-care-for-orchids/. I have all these listed on my web page including treatment/solutions, etc. 🥰
Thanks for sharing. Your Orchids look amazing!! Great useful tips. I was told watering with coffee water is better for orchids, that killed my plants. But I should have followed the tags, it's clearly says 3 ice cubes a week. You are correct, there are so many misinformation out there!! Well done, and well presented. 👌👍💯👏❤
My pleasure! No, coffee water, rice water all these are not necessary and they can’t tolerate. Remember, in tropical countries they grow on trees! So that clearly says, they don’t need too much of anything! Especially direct sunlight and water! Because their natural habitat is shade and tree bark! I am glad you found this video useful ❤🙏🥰
@@JustGiji Understood!! Thank you so much 👌🙏
