Quadriplegic life update, 🫶🏼 Ostomy Journey / EMMIE
Hey there 💛💗 welcome to our channel! Em&Erin // a little slice of the quad life 🍋
Hey, check out my website, "EmmieLynn|Design" with this link:

We want to know what you want to see from us ! Please leave a comment and let us know (:

We want everyone to see how even with this injury we are perfectly capable of living a full & happy life 💕 While also educating others about spinal cord injuries 🙂

With a spinal cord injury, you have to tap into your inner creative genius to get some things done independently. So we’re excited to share what we have figured out, not only to potentially help the quadriplegic community, but to help everyone have a better understanding of spinal cord injuries.

We connected through Instagram and instantly became great friends. We haven’t met in person YET, but ONE DAY we will(: and WE CANT FREAKIN WAIT!
.
keep up with us on Instagram (:

    So much respect. I had a bad motorcycle accident in 2016 (at 21 years old) and came out with what I thought was bad injuries with a long recovery. I am now though recovered living a normal life just with some pain and arthritis, and I still ride my motorbike! Makes me realise how extremely extremely fortunate I was, and how things like this can happen at anytime to anyone even with something you wouldn't think of as being dangerous. But you could also look at it like this, you're lucky to be alive and to still be able to tell this story. Massive love and respect to both young ladies all the best for a bright future ❤️

    So glad I ran across your channel. My accident was very similar to what sounds like Emmys accident was. I was passenger in a pickup and we went too fast around a curve and here the tree where I was sitting. I'm at C4 and five quadriplegic and right arm amputees. From my accident that was February 1986 when I was 18 years old.

    This happened to my little brother. I wasn't sure he would even survive the accident. He spent quite a while at Shepherd Center. They probably helped him more than anyone. Today, he's actually driving!!! His truck has a door that functions exactly like that one!!! I think having that little extra mobility kept him going!!

    Schools need to teach accident prevention, not Greek, not Roman etc...There is no Life once you are confined in a Wheel chair. I was lucky that I learnt Judo from a Monk when I was 11 knowing how to fall, how to look around for obstacles etc...Are there any one to join me to request Gov to include Accident Prevention Programs in our School ? How are you able to move your arms with neck injury? Isn't it can't move anything below the level of injury?

    • @Em-Erin
      @Em-Erin 10 місяців тому

      Hey! It actually all depends on where the spinal cord is damaged & how much! different levels control different parts of the body. If all four limbs are affected, it’s quadriplegic. So, even though we can move our arms, we don’t have hand or tricep function !

    Thank you for sharing your video! I am not a quad or paraplegic but I am losing feeling and motion in my right leg due to a T8 bspinal cord tumour that isn’t accessible to be surgically removed since it’s in the cord. It’s also strange that one leg is affected but I am also weak in the abdomen etc and deal with a considerable amount of pain that needs strong meds to manage. I am judged daily when I park in the disabled parking spots because I’m “young”, (I’m 42) but unless they see my scooter they assume I don’t look old so therefore there’s no disability there. Such a strange concept isn’t it? But I applaud your bravery and sharing your story and wish you nothing but the best!

    Thank u for sharing ladies. Today is April 16th 2023 and my 16 year old Daughter is at Shepherd right now in Atlanta. Her and 3 other friends were hiking and she stepped on a over hung rock and the rock gave , she fell 40 feet below the bluff with rocks falling on top of her. She has a crushed 5th vertebra , she slowly has gotten a little use of left fingers and can move left foot a little , nothing on right side. Thank y'all for sharing this.i hope it encourages and motivates her . We will follow y'all more .
