I wish there was a way to bring this amazing airline back. I also wish they would have preserved aircraft from their fleet. All they have is a Tristar sitting in a "museum" in Chaguaramas with parts missing and the paint rotting away. That's not what preserving is. If it was preserved, most parts would be in place and its beautiful livery would be shining. It can barely even be seen while driving. If anyone knows if other BWIA planes are being preserved, please let me know.
To keep this accurate. The plane was not a 747. It was a L1011 Lockheed aircraft. I was a member of the crew that brought the aircraft from Palmdale California to Piarco Airport and was a member of the flight crew that was on that first flight from Piarco Airport to JFK International airport the next day. I was a member of many of those early flights and I treasure those memories. I truly enjoyed my years with "Bee Wee" They are etched in my heart forever ❤
This brought back so many memories. I didn't know that BWIA had 747s in their fleet. I guess they were short lived, because I remembered the old 707s, DC9s and then they were replaced by MD80s and my favourite, the L-1011 Tristar 500s. I was shocked to hear that the airline went under, but glad that they were reborn as Caribbean Airlines. I still call them BeeWee and I'm glad that they kept BW for all their flight numbers. Very nice tribute.
they say our BWIA was always late but was d safest thing ,couldnt beat its track record, better late than never i say . fastforward to now boeing crashing an killin ppl, bring back our b wee
