A personal blog, loaded with information, learnt the hard way & that's by doing it!!
If a door opens & an opportunity arises, one should take it. Never be afraid to make a decision, you can only learn from it.
We fish the ocean and the fresh and we try our hand at spear fishing.
Scuba diving is our second love & we try share our dives.
Heading to remote and isolate places is what its all about.
We build stuff, make stuff, create, break & loose stuff.
We find stuff, trash, most of the time, however, every now & then a special treasure comes along.
We share our adventures, so that our family & friends and you our followers, whom are scattered all over the world, can keep abreast of what we get up to, easier and certainly more fun to show you, than try explain over the phone or on facetime!!
So that when we do meet, on the road or on a boat, we can yarn about the amazing places, people and sights we have seen, together.
To my soul mate..1437 Thanks MMmmmmmmwaaaaaa

Good on you for taking a newbie to fishing
Thanks for watching, it always gives me such pleasure when someone catches their first fish….that trout went down a treat for dinner 🍻
3:30 😂 need a hand captain 😂 nice catch btw 👍
Poor thumb got a roasting…..thought there was a BBQ happening. 🍻 for watching.
Why not the 2022 Daiwa Saltiga 15H SJ reel instead of the Penn ?
The Saltiga is certainly a great reel, no doubt about it. The main factors in making my choice of the Fathom was a higher drag rating than the Squal I use on my PE3 and the upgrade was to get a stronger combo to stop some of the beasts we get up here and I love the low profile feel from my bass fishing days. Penn’s durability and price were also major factors.
If you do your reserch, daiwa has more drag than penn. 2022 Daiwa Saltiga has 23 lbs drag and Daiwa Leda has 28.7 lbs of drag. Daiwa has better engineering than Penn… I have plenty of penn. from slammer, authors their trolling line international models. And I switch to Daiwa. Better oversized digi gears, magsealed bearings, lighter, more capacity, more ergonomic, it’s just a way better reel than penn now. Even better than shimano
Sickest video of the best day fishing ever. Cheers for taking me out
Any time, next trip is with the spearguns…keep an eye on the tides, next neap tide we’re out there.
bloody calm azz 😁
Thanks for watching Mate. Yip was a sensational day out, water was crystal clear 🍻
Insane
Thanks for watching Mate. Very fortunate to be able to fish this remote location.
Fantastic video. Many thanks for putting this up. Ps- You can also troll the needlenose GT Cream. Troll it behind the wake wash and you will be surprised!
Thanks for taking the time to watch Hector. Will definitely give it a go trolling.
Love this thanns !
Thanks for watching
What type of fly or popper are you using?
Hey Mate, thanks for watching. saltwaterfliesaustralia.com these are the guys I get my flies from, they have some great flys and various poppers.
Awesome video buddy. How do you zoom in on the video like that?
Thanks Justin, weather did not play ball this year. How's that Jewie you rescued, BUS!! Mate I use Pre Pro for editing and learn from UA-cam 🤣🤣
Cheers buddy i’ll have a look at that Pre Pro. Ye that jewie was a sizer, lost a few and got a few good ones
Thank you Ian & Karin. Love your videos! ❤
Thanks Kate, always a laugh. Weather has been mint of late.
Love ya work, miss it heaps, Colin
Thanks Mate....Always a laugh out there. Hopefully see you two soon.
The Fg knot is a great knot I use it all the time
Thanks for watching. Great knot "F#*king Good" named for a reason 🤣🤣
FG is the best braid to leader!!!??? What exactly do you base this statement on???!!!
It’s more rhetorical really, based on the context and humour of the video, in which many a knot fail. If I were to give any advice on knots it would be to use the knot you are confident in. Tight lines 🍻
@@DugongAdventuresYeah fair enough I was just curious because I've been fishing for just over a year & I've learned a few cinches, a basic Surgeon for tying to swivels along with Palomar/Uni. I tied an Alberto mono to braid lead which held good & I've been using just a Surgeon to tie leads now which holds pretty well to.
If it's holding, means you in the right spot and on some fish, which is what it's all about....ENJOY
@@DugongAdventuresYeah I've caught a few here & there tight lines!
I only use them on top water from the shoreline as do my mates, and we caught quite a few different species and they cast a mile and a half. Well when it comes to fishing you learn every day...vertical jigging😮😮. Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching Bud. GT ice cream is my go to lure, works like a charm for so many species.
Thanks for sharing Ian 👍😊
No problem 👍
damn it boys i left too early, colin
Maybe….but the good news is you’re coming back 🍻
Great video guys! The flats fishing looked amazing. Shame about the sharks! Big trout on the spear too! 😊
I really enjoy watching your videos Guys. Beats the fishing in TAS.
Thanks for watching, we have the Trade Winds blowing at the moment so no fishing for us 😟 Will be back at it soon though, October the winds should stop howling 🎣🎣
Hi Ian, would it be possible to do a video on how to ‘walk the dog’ with a nomad lure, or just the correct technique please?
youtube.com/@NomadTackle?si=JIFAqz7IvI6tf9CB Hi Kate, have a look at this link to the Nomad channel, some very interesting content.
nOW THAT WAS A BIG CHINAMAN IAN
There are some BEASTS out there and they pull very hard! Wind has started to ease up so hopefully we can get back out there soon 🍻
Nice friend👍👍
Was great to get out and wet a line.....Thanks for watching Buddy.
Now Now Ian
Fishing was a tuff that day, the following day was much better, will post that episode this week 🍻
Nice👍👍🤙
Thanks 😄
So you can cast it AND vertical jig it? Didn't know that!
I wasn't to sure about jigging the Icecream and then was pleasantly surprised by the result's. Have some slightly heaver models on their way to me , which will be better in the current whilst the tide is running. Thanks for watching.
Yeeeew❤
Lovely Vid and fish. love cape york
Thanks Craig for watching and your support 🍻
HAVE YOU SEEN THE SIZE OF TONY'S HEAD
Mate....the last thing we wanted was for Tony to get "Big Headed" about the fish!!
Absolute bloody rippa bru, so good
Thanks for watching Mate....
Salt water Fly Whhaaattt ! If I’m not mistaken it was nearly ripped from your hands at least twice beforehand , I think your a brave man with a rod you don’t really want to keep considering all the monster ooglies up there. Must admit there was one shot where I thought you were going to throw it 😮 Anyhow good luck nothing like a new challenge Cheers from down South
You are not wrong, nearly lost the rod, just managed to get a hold of the butt section, was hysterically. Drag was free, so she spooled off, then in a panic tried to palm the reel….well the rest was history 😂
Great work guys love the camp out , good Mack’s and trout Cheers from down south
Thanks Iain, spectacular reef and wildlife, Sir David Attenborough stuff…….
Nice work Colin
Good to see you back at it I’ve missed a couple of episodes I think, I’m jealous not of the fish this time but the weather, we are having a cool windy summer down south, where we fish out of Robe can be difficult in an open boat especially when northerly winds come up during the day Anyhow well done and have a good one Cheers
Great to hear from you again Iain, weather has been very strange all over, we have some serious northerlies blowing at the moment, hopefully we can get out next week and wet a line. Stay safe and ENJOY 🍻🎣
epic session ian
Mate, drifted over the shallows and all hell broke loose….was humorous trying to operate drone, boat, cameras and rod😂😂
i see there is two names to the island where you live Darnley island and Erub island what is the reason for that???
Thanks for watching Dean, appreciated 🎣 Good question, Erub is the Torres Islander traditional name, whilst Darnley is the colonial name. The Torres Strait’s has a rich traditional culture.
@@DugongAdventures ok mate thnx for that😁 i see the reefs are only 10km away which is great, here in mackay the islands are 30km away and the reef is 100km away which takes the fun out of it lol
Gee a lot of foul language constant crap music very dull affair not impressed 1-10👎🏻
Your constructive criticism is noted 🍻
top spot mate 😁
Cheers Mate…thanks for watching 🍻🎣
awesome job ... where was Papa G hiding .. ?? lol
Thanks Neil…..Papa G been a tad busy 🍻
Amazing
Thanks for watching Erick…..glad you enjoyed 🎣🍻
Great fishing!!
What line u use and how much?
Hey Rival, thanks for watching. I am using Daiwa J8 50lb on PE5 rig and 30lb on PE3. Can get about 200 yards on….which is plenty 🎣🎣
@@DugongAdventures ok thank's ✌️
They must be bad eating compared to other Trout 😂
Thanks for watching Jason 🍻Mate they good eating for sure! It’s breeding season for most reef species at the moment and these are likely hen fish full of roe.
@@DugongAdventures no worries. You live in great part of the world. Got to go to TI for work one week in 1997. Did some handline fishing off the jetty and around the island which was great fun. Enjoy them once spawning is over.
I think you may have found a spawning ground Ian
Mate, they were going off…was crazy.
@@DugongAdventures That's what happens when your on a spawning ground
That was an awesome day Ian!😅👍
Hey Kate, thanks for watching. Truth be told the fishing was a tad slow for most of the day, this action was all in an hour at one spot, was insane!
darnley/erub? fun fact, i helped build the original phone system on there and used to dive by myself on the reef edge .
Thanks for watching Alan. Not much has changed regarding the reef, still pristine! What has changed is now it’s four stroke outboards, fibreglass boats and cell phones 🤔🎣
Thanks a lot for the awesome video!!!
Thank you for taking the time to watch, planning a return trip to Brown reef this weekend to continue the search 🎣🍻
Wow what a good spot mate..you keep catching a big fish.
Thanks for watching John, we very fortunate to experience this remote location 🎣
Living in gods country. Hey mate what boat is that?
Thanks for watching Rob, yes it’s an amazing opportunity. She’s a Haynes Hunter 542CC, great tub!
