Amy has been knitting most of her life and explored many other crafts including crocheting, quilting, bead making, weaving and spinning. About ten years ago, she embraced knitting and began teaching on the advice of her son who said, "Mom, you should knit more. Knitting makes you happy!" Since then Amy has been teaching knitting in person, currently at Warm 'n Fuzzy in Cary, NC, and on Zoom. She loves to teach beginners and to lead her students to grow and embrace challenges. She draws on her previous career as a technical writer and corporate event planner to translate complicated patterns for intermediate and advanced knitters and turn that information into engaging classes that help her students achieve impressive results. Thank you so much for sharing your technique. I have usually machine sewn my reinforcements for steeking but I can no longer see well enough even to thread the machine. I appreciate your technique because it is not as bulky as crochet and the yarn wraps and secures each piece of the stitch that could come loose. I also usually worry that the edge will pucker because of the reinforcing stitches but there is no puckering at all with this technique.
Rib cast on
Thank you for the excellent video! This seems like it will give less bulk than the crochet steeking method? Are there any negatives to the backstitch steeking method?
The flap area and how to "knit down" and when and where to add stitch holders - and that area are not very clear in the books or the pattern from Schoolhouse Press. I have all of those and keep reading each just to figure out what goes into the row-by-row that are actually missing. I love your videos and appreciate the time and energy you share.
The garter stitch on the BSJ is a good time for me to practice the left pick. thank you.
So very, very happy to have found you and your videos! It has taken me decades to attempt the BSJ even after buying all the books and the row-by-row pattern. You have made me better able to understand. Thank you VERY much! Blessings.
Two weeks ago, I started my first BSJ - and happy to say actually finished it after decades of having all the books and the row-by-row pattern. Not all the information is on the r-b-r and I had to read and reread each book's section of the BSJ. I'm on my second BSJ and using only solid white just to see the actual increases and decreases. This time I'm using the decrease you show on this video and like it very much! Yes, must easier than the #1 decrease as in the first BSJ.
What is the difference between slipping the first stitch on the RS row and Knitting the first stitch on the RS row?
That is a great idea for changing color. Just found your videos.
Question: I find the instructions of the sole hard. Do you have a tutorial for that? Thanks a lot 😊
Can I use bulky wool yarn
Thank you, this was VERY helpful. I was having trouble with the way the R2 and R3 instructions use "p1 WITH cc" and then "p1 IN mc" - never having done this before, I couldn't be sure I wasn't supposed to p1 IN mc WITH cc or mc! Watching you work the pattern and hearing you describe it as you go clarified everything for me.
Is it slip 1, k2tog though back looop, psso for the decrease you do? The prominent one
Thank you!!! By far the best explanation I've found.
Thank you. Just found your very helpful videos.
I love this video, it’s a shame that u didn’t finish the swatch. Could you make a complete video tutorial making this stranded knitting circular swatch ??? Please!!!!
Thank you thank you for these videos!
I like the cont knitting
Love your teaching style!
I’m learning very slowly and I always do the first 2 stitches English style and the last 1-2 English style.😊
You are a Stich Whisperer! Thank you for making the Acronyms make sense, and showing both types of knitting styles.
Are you catching the floats of the second color when knitting one row of the primary color? If so how? Or I should say how many stitches before you catch the float. I am brand new to catching floats and would like to make this cowl that I purchased the pattern for, and this is very helpful, but unsure how to catch the floats for the two colors.
OMG! Thanks You for this, I purchased this pattern a few years back when I first started learning to knit and crochet. The owner of the knit store said it was doable, but I have been too intimidated to start. Now that I'm an intermediate-advanced beginner knitter I feel I can start the project with your video tutorial, yay! My mom will finally get this cowl after 4 years, lol.
You are a WONDERFUL teacher!
I was expecting youvto show the entire procedure, not jusr star t ing the keyhole but completing it it also.

Procuro há anos este tutorial.obrigada mas preciso da tradução em Português
You are very clear - thank you! I heard what you said about purling the center stitch on the 'wrong' side. How do I know which side is the 'right' side vs. the 'wrong' side of the garter stitch?
really enjoyed these videos. I'm new to mittens and magic loops (think I'll stick with DPN's for now 😂. thank you for taking time to make these!
Thank you! Very helpful. I find magic loop challenging so this was very helpful. I also enjoyed hearing your cat in the background! :)
Thanks for your help!
And when Siamese talk, they talk. We have a lavender Siamese… whom seems to just get bigger and bigger… so we might have a mountain lion in disguise. I’m glad I found your vids. Many Blessings
Thank you 😊
Thanks so much Amy!! Great video!
Also, why place a marker after P5?
My pattern says for Set Up Row 1 after PM knit 42! And when picking up and knitting from Chain B, pick up and knit 132. Why does your say only knit 30??
She has fewer stitches because this is just a sample, not the real sweater.
@@alice-pe1ou Thank you, whew. Didn’t know that. I got brave, forged ahead finished the Setup Row two and am about to start.
I love ttbl
Hola me podrías mandar el pdf o tutorial para hacer el baby spray gracias

Hi dear can you please explain for me what is different between YRN and YO
Hi! In the US the term YO is used for both purl yarnovers and knit yarnovers even though they are worked differently. It looks like in the UK the term YRN, yarn round the needle, is used for the purl yarnover. Here's a link a UK video describing it: ua-cam.com/video/QLQYj7y4PjU/v-deo.html
I really enjoy your 2 color brioche tutorials 😊
I'm so glad!
I’m a little confused. I was under the assumption that there would be another video re BSJ. Have you done one about the “center 90’ stitches? The first three videos have been so very helpful, but I’m not sure I’ve done those center 90 correctly. Thank you.
Thank you for this helpful video! I feel much more confident about trying this step now.
Thank you, thank you! I have searched everywhere for this help!
🥰🥰🥰🙈🙈🥰👍

I hope this doesn’t post twice…the actual technique begins at 2:49. Super excellent tutorial. Love it. Thank you.
