Sappho (1877) by Charles Mengin (1853-1933). One tradition claims that Sappho committed suicide by jumping off the Leucadian cliff.
So disappointing. Came down from Sydney to see it. The plot didn't know if it was a comedy or a tragedy. The cast did not achieve anywhere NEAR the intensity of violence the material deserved. And the farce of that ridiculous mouse costume that had everyone in stitches completely washed away any compassion you felt for Else. A real mishmesh. She was either possessed or she wasn't. Don't clarify it. *sigh*
