Sorry Rex - only just seen your comment. The Crovect treatment removes the maggots immediately- they all ‘abandon ship’ within seconds of application as it kills them very quickly if they stay, and it also prevents reinfestation. These sheep were sheared the following week. It’s best to avoid treating the sheep prior to shearing as it isn’t very nice for the shearers to be exposed to the Crovect - depending on the weather and time of lambing we can end up with a very short window where our sheep have full fleeces and blowfly’s are starting to breed, hence the issue in this vid (and the reason we have to keep a close eye on the flock).

We do have hens with our sheep on some of the pastures and they do help, but they don’t totally prevent fly strike sadly.

Only just seen this comment @allen freeman - all of our crane dismantles are undertaken strictly in accordance with a lift plan. The job is essentially planned in reverse - you measure the closest distance you can set up up a crane, determine the approximate weight of pieces of tree you wish to remove/lift, and then spec a suitable crane to undertake the lifts. Safety factors are doubled as we are dismantling at height (an overweight piece can’t simply be put straight back down onto the floor) - if we want to remove pieces upto a tonne in weight we specify a crane that can lift at least two tonnes at that radius. Once actual dismantling starts we take a few small pieces to ‘get our eye in’ with the particular timber’s weight (the crane’s weigh each piece) - it’s amazing how much this can change between tree species and seasons. We’ve become very good at estimating the weight of pieces of tree before cutting them! (So no, nothing like the American videos you’ve seen, and certainly no risk to lives!).
