I like your positive good humoured attitude to life and yet ye work extremely hard Certainly farmers attitude to hard work has not changed much over the generations
How long does it take to do three mixes ? Does it depend on weight ?
About 2 hours ish, but bout another 40 min to go to the outside yard. A full mix is about 3t
Thanks My Dad farms down in Kerry, a place called Duagh , ye have much drier ground up there maybe less rain too compared to North Kerry
@markocarroll9424 much less rain I'd say we get about 1100ml adv
Beet looks very good pat
Ya doing about 34t ac we think. It's back at bit on last year, but that's to be expected with the cold summer
Very nice. Great day for beet.
Conditions are savage tbf
Pat you couldn't be anything but optimistic about the future of farming when you see lads like you at it. Great operator and great videos fair play to you.
Thanks you, that's a very nice comment.
Long wheel base is the way to go and manual spools 40k eco we have two with that spec and they give no trouble great tractors , we are thinking of upgrading an 8360 and might go with a T6 180 dynamic command.
Beautiful looking horse with your Dad
What fat score do those bulls kill out at typically?
2+ to 3= odd 3+
Any interest in a John Deere 750a
What year ?
@patcollins8638 2021
1.9kg a day gain. how much meal are they getting...interesting about the brush weight gain
Top one Pat,great variety with the grain, beef, machinery and horses.
With the slow starting a mechanic told me before, its normal for all newer machines , common rail engines have to build up pressure on the rail before they start .
The tm only got a quick run round, I’d say you could’ve stayed the day talking about the loadall😂
Good video, love the beast.
Good video, love the beast.
Nice shoutout to ya man Morrisey, I wouldn’t know him but sure you’ll surely grease his paw when you get 6 figs when it sells…🎉😂
@justintime54 who's Morrisey ?
Great stuff 👍
Very enjoyable video as usual
Put the road bib tyres on her when Ur changing them tyres pat, they are a great job 👍
Would they work.in the fields though? We draw alot of straw out of fields with it
Yeah they would be ok that way as well pat
The weight gain with the brushing is amazing...what about a bit of music ??!
For the cattle to listen to is it ?
@@patcollins8638 Of course cattle love music ...you can listen too!
Serious cattle there ....could you do something on a killout/ grades video sort of before and after ...??
Ground surely be in shite tomorrow… best of luck
If you don’t mind I would like to see in detail what your mix is for the friesian cows because we are also trying to fatten our empty cows
What size paddocks are those groups of 33 going in the spring, 0.5ha?
Ya about that, that's what we aim for but will play the cards we are delt when the time comes
The feedlync looks a great job, very similar to an abbey otherwise only for the two speed gearbox. With the automatic ration feeder yesterday would it make it harder to spot a sick calf even if you checked them every day, would a 2t bin following them and just feed out of it be as good and you’d spot a lad who’s gone off his meal that bit quicker before he’s proper sick?
Maby ya, it's the labour with feeding every day is the problem.
Definitely from experience its a disadvantage for picking up sick or off calves, also some calves would eat 3 kg a day others bearly 1kg, otherwise its a serious job👍
@@johnoc2573 yeah we’re using way too much time loading bags into jeep, I think a condon 2t would be a nice middle ground, the flexibility to call in anytime and feed while also checking daily and being sure they’re all eating is worth the bit of time it would take for replacement heifers anyway
Would u be worried waiting til the last one is fit in a pen other's would get overfat?
U might give us a walk through the HE-VA at some stage Pat?
Great stuff Pat ,the video yesterday was class and some crack was had by the sounds of it What does it take to get into the beef 500 monitored farmers group. Pat if you did some more farm tours in the future it would go down well , judging by the views that video got.
Paddydcollins@gmail.com msg me and il give u more details about db500
Push for 2000 subs for Xmas
Let's do it. Tell a friend to suscribe 😉🤠
Good stuff
Good video , fine group s of weaklings
Thank you. They are nice hopefully be good cattle.going to grass.
The northern men do things well
👌
Are the heavier calves/cattle up that side of the country down to the bigger type high production dairy cow they use up there?
100%
Youghal vet clinic have a very fast turnaround… drop in today.. results same or next day
The frier in Burger King is broke down - Feck!
T7 and a tm, is that the secret sauce to a high profit farm pat?🫣, really enjoyed the videos of the trip, some very interesting bits in there
No Case though 😉👍
It was farm theory, Andrew wright set up the water metering as far as I know, recognise the pens
Why did they remove the rubber matting?
Wore out and no major benefit to it
Lisbeg farms masterclass video fattening cattle reckoned they had 10% lameness on concrete slats and cattle lay down for two days after installing rubber matting. @@patcollins8638
Are the brushes used with bullocks
Do they sell off animals that aren't drinking enough water?
Not atm but wouldn't rule it out in the future. Good question though
Very very interesting farms we visited. Great friendly open people willing to share what they know and have learned over the years. Dedicated farmers doing a brilliant job. Good video Pat!
Good video, nice farm setups Do they ever tell you what they buy in the calves / cattle for ?
I don't ask as that wouldn't be fare to ask and won't have any bearing on my business
Eric reed's finishing farm richhill
Good stuff! Much love from NL. Keep it up👌
We have one of them. A great job. You will need to put down a hard-core base alright. Takes the cattle a while to get used to. Best part is all the calves get their fair share.
They are more suited to ad-lib
No i don't think so
Messy this time of year as they are coming and going to it too often
If you remove the mesh they will start quicker won’t take them long to get started you’ll want to be on the ball to start shutting it down. I don’t know whether it would handle 80 weanlings be a lot hanging around feeder
Il do that tomorrow if they are still slow, thanks for the tips 👍
Graham kavanagh have one
Pat would one of them feeders work in the shed as well with young calves? If so it would be excellent
Ya i think it definitely would but we will see if I still have one next year
@patcollins8638 well if it would you would get 2 jobs out of them then, great video again, Ur flying it
Delighted to see a few clips from the calf talk, was gutted I missed about it. And especially missed the buckets!
