My mother told my sister and I (she was 8 and I was 9) we were ugly. So, that stuck with me for most of my life...

I innocently told a guy i worked with that me and my friends were going to dress up like the power puff girls since there were three of us. He said "which one are you going to be.... the ugly one." I was like wtf did i do to you? I literally was friends with his girlfriend and i minded my business. But anyway i started my villan arch that day and i had a glow up. But still wtf..

Why can't these women just accept their average looks

Think the most defining moment of people perceiving me as ugly was in elementary school. I'm adopted from China and have a cleft lip (I got surgery on it when I was 2, but my nose still looks slightly uneven and I have a scar underneath my nose). Basically other classmates and older kids would make comments about how something is wrong with my face and that it looks weird essentially. It honestly repeats in my mind because its my biggest insecurity in life because I feel different or apart from other kids my age. Like my friends tell me I look fine or it doesn't look that bad but I felt so self conscious about it because so much people feel the need to point it out 😭. I'm 15 now and the feeling has somewhat subsided but it's still always there.

I... Never really had one of these moments before... But I simply think I might be ugly lol. And these girls aren't even ugly at all!!

I don’t think I care about being beautiful but if people didn’t unconsciously discriminate being ugly it would be much easier. At this point though, I’ve stopped caring because anyone who bases their relations to people based on how they look is pretty shallow minded and I’m not trying to have my reason drowned in such waters.

Someone said I looked like Fiona cause of my big nose but I always thought Fiona as an ogre was beautiful so I shrugged it off. We were assigned dance partners for grade 7 graduation and I was with my crush, Yay! But then he did EVERYTHING he could to make sure he didn’t have to dance with me and instead dance with a prettier girl. So💀

I come late to my cram class one day and sat next to a boy because it was the only remaining seat in the whole class room. The boy stand up and went to his friends at the back despite having no space back and they all were laughing. And it hurt so much. 😢 I was 12 man

When my manager, who insisted every person on staff had to be photographed at least 4 times during an event, told me to stay out of the way of the camera. She even made me go into the press room for the entire event so "I wouldn't be caught by the camera".

Me and my friend accidentally overheard some popular f boys gossiping and then comparing and rating us. Apparently I'm the ugly one. I'm not offended because some walking red flags saying I'm ugly and they think I'm not good enough for them. I'm hurt because they're dehumanizing me. Actually they're dehumanizing my more beautiful friends too in different way, looking at her only as a trophy or object for their harem collection, so they could boast their ego and flex superiority to other men. So I when I was younger I had an online bf we met on a virtual game & he added me on fb I met his cousin & sister. His sister was really nice but his cousin was kinda rude & everytime him & I would go places on the game she would follow him so one day she told me that he said to her that I was ugly. That kinda hurted when she told me what he said but I never brought it up to him cuz I was embarrassed by that and he and I were still together on that game lol. This was like in 2010 when I met him and we were still together on that game until 2018 lol. Also, there was times when I broke up with him on there but then we got back together cuz he kept bugging me and wouldn’t leave me alone so I just gave in. 😂 Oh yeah this other time when we broke up he brought some girl to a place I was at and was trying to make me jealous..The funny thing was that she wasn’t trying to play along she wanted to just leave..😂😂😂

So this is the moment i realized that I was the the ugly/fat friend of the group and I realize this by watching a video show and it was like one of those typical videos it was like that one hot girl's friend and it would show like an ugly girl and then I was like wait a minute is that why my pretty/reallyskinny friend kept me around because she was not be nice to me at all she would take myself she would throw it she would break my stuff like wtf and like every girl in that friend group was like really skinny when I mean skinny I mean really skinny and they'll be sitting there talking about how they don't eat like are y'all okay? And like I'm not fat I'm actually considered skinny but when I'm standing beside them I look fat because like they're really really unhealthy skinny and I wanted to look like that too I mean not eating is hard and I'm not brave enough to regurgitate my food so I stopped doing it and I'm so glad it's summer break now to get away from them they were really bad influence on me.

I was always that butt of the joke, "hey my friends likes you lol" girl in middle school/early high school. I had a big problem with acne and hyperpigmentation at that time, so I have a hundred stories. But the one that hurt the most happened after I was older. It was during my sophomore year of college and I was home for winter break. I'm showing my dad pictures of the girls in my discussion group that I was sorta friends with in school. This man literally looks at me and says, "Wow. Those girls are really pretty. Are you sure you want to hang out with them?" I was... 20 at the time. I never felt generally attractive until I was 25. ...I'm 28 now and my esteem honestly fluctuates, but I don't think I ever feel as low as I did before 25.

In elementary school, I was well liked. People found me funny, caring, kind, and just a person they can always depend on. I never once thought about my looks. But then for middle school I changed schools. Being the new kid, I was very shy so nobody knew me for my personality, only for my looks. So constantly I would always be reminded that I’m too ugly to be loved. Even after two decades of living, that statement remains true.

Since I was a child I always knew. I caught on to the sneak dissing EARLY. Then I sat down and actually looked at the people who use to tease me. I seen animalistic comparisons and strange looking features on them too. Then it hit me. They were just projecting because how I look makes them feel insecure. That is what encouraged me to ignore the little insecure people and be my own hype man. People can only shut you down when you thrive off of their validation. I am my own validation! I don’t care about what them folks be TALKING about!! 😮👉🏾🪑

People used to always call me ugly. Which is confusing, because my entire extended family called me the prettiest of them. And I also have a mirror, I know what I look like.
