My band played with Hole a handful of times, pre-Kurt. I didn’t know Courtney personally, but I swear, I never noticed anything remarkable about her. She wasn’t a personality yet. Hole was one of many, many L.A. bands and they didn’t stick out. I don’t remember seeing any amazing performances by them. A lot of guys at the time liked the novelty of women onstage and Hole also had a female drummer. They had ok draw and I always thought that was why. In fairness though, maybe there was talent that I just wasn’t able to see.

Then he kept calling Courtney in March, and when her husband was no longer in this world, he cheated on his wife with Courtney in late 1994. Billy was way more into Courtney than his ex-wife.

Allegedly Courtney was seeing Billy in London while Kurt was in Rome. After 2 months of not seeing each other, she came to Rome and Kurt had rented part of the Coliseum for her (she liked history) and had roses and champagne for her. She took a pill to sleep and didn’t make love to him. Next day, Kurt had overdosed with a note saying she didn’t love him anymore. People don’t know that after they returned to the states they fell out and he was planning to divorce her. She had an intervention, called police on him and then had him go to rehab in CA where he was last seen fully alive. I believe Courtney cheated on Kurt, got rid of him. Since they had a prenup she would of walked away with nothing. They were heading toward a divorce. Since he was vulnerable and very much hooked on drugs, she lied he tried to attempt suicide in Italy. Hired a private investigator and sent him to Seattle to look for missing Kurt. Meanwhile, failed to tell investigator that Kurt had shown up at his house, seen by male nanny. Tom Grant, the private investigator details what enfolded and has audio tapes of Courtney lying. He deemed Kurt’s case not likely a suicide. To this day it is alleged Kurt’s case is a homicide.
Your timeline and info are messed up... Kurt threatened divorce on March 1 and on March 3 he welcomed her to Rome with all the gifts he had bought (or stolen, like the Colosseum rock). After Rome, they fought a lot over his drug use but Kurt didn't do anything to start divorce proceedings. He told the officers who confiscated his arms on March 18 that he would consider attending marriage counseling. The same day, he met his old Olympia friend, Ian Dickson, and told him he really loved Courtney. The next week, he went on a drug spree with Rene since Courtney had banned drugs from the house. Rene kept telling Kurt that he had to divorce Courtney, and Kurt would call her every other hour to tell her that he loved her, they would fight over his drug use, and he would call her again in a sweet voice. And you are so wrong about Courtney not getting anything in case of a divorce. All their properties belonged equally to Kurt and Courtney. Even though Kurt paid all, he added Courtney's name to everything he bought: the house in Carnation, the house in Seattle (1.4 M), and his cars (even though Courtney couldn't drive)... Even Courtney told Grant that she wasn't worried in case Kurt left her because her name was on everything. Then add that Courtney would have been granted custody, so Kurt would have had to pay child support for 16 years.
