Bill Chase - 50th Anniversary Tribute
On this date, 50 years ago, we lost the great Bill Chase in a plane crash. Today, as a tribute to Bill and his band mates who lost their lives that day, I am playing Bill’s 1960s Getzen flugelhorn.

The Five Foot High Trumpet Guy - Allen J. Venezio
Sound agresive for comeitte way softer normally. Btw i dint understand .. if all apriciate mellow dark sound why not just play a cornet ? The vintage ones all sounds like thar.
Hey mr venezio
NO WAY HI MR VENEZIO IM YOUR TRUMPET PLAYER STUDENT YULIAN
I went there 2003-2006. Wish I could go back and put forth effort and not worry about fitting in. I did some crazy stuff back then I was always in dr jones office. I actually mugged one of these band kids for their box of candy almost was charged with robbery for the incident.
I like show and method.Ok thanks😅😃🤤🤓
Wonder why they went five horns.
Hey, you may not recognize me by my account name, but I'm one of your old students. I was the 5th trumpet in jazz and went to 3rd the next year. I know that could be multiple people but, you know, felt like saying hi.
Didn’t bill chase perish in a plane crash in 1974
Yes, with three of the other members of the band and 2 pilots. He was only 39.
Mouthpiece?
It's a Warburton 4MD with an E8 back bore. It's similar to a Bach Mt. Vernon 3C. It has an extra long back bore because the trumpet needs it because the gap would be too large otherwise. Thanks for watching my video!
Falta más practica
Nice playing daddy
Nice one daddy
Hey daddy
Snazzy Jazzy
Very good sound but iffy top note...trumpet is hard ! I will not attempt this lol yes, keep blowing 😅🎺
That top note is tough, especially on that mouthpiece I'm playing (it's pretty deep) and how many practice runs I did before I got one that was worthy to share! I love playing the cornet when I can and I think it worked for this. Thanks for watching!
Good attempt man ,very good. Very daring, don’t think many would do that and put it on display( UA-cam). 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
It was difficult, for sure! Sometimes, we have to push ourselves and put stuff out there in order to make us better players. It was fun to work on and I know I could work on it for another month and still find things I could do better. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it!

Bass.... Relentless!
goood!
I love Louis Armstrong & I have been playing the trumpet for 31 years but I will never try to attempt this. I know my limits. It's way too difficult.
What is so difficult about it?
@@JazzFan76 keep doing what you do!!!! Thumbs up from me👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
good job!
Damn, these guys jam!
Hi mr v

We have lost Phil Porter (organ) and G.G. Shinn (vocals) since this video was taken. So grateful I was able to hear this band's final two performances.
Phil Porter was one of thee GREATEST organist EVER!!!
This guy looks like a midget version of peter Griffin
wow
hi Mr.v
Great
Ok
Hello Mr V its me Ricardo
Guys, learn the song and lose the music stands.
It was a "reunion" concert where the band got together one night before the concerts and some of the players were new to the band. It was incredible to be sitting right in front of them and feeling the energy. Trust me, you didn't even notice the music stands!!! :)
Right. Even the Hammond organ didn't save their ass. This ain't Bill Chase.
Yeah, they didnt know the song <derp> Been hearing in in their heads since 1972!
Hey! That’s me when I was WAY younger XD
Wish I could play it that well
Omg!!!!!!💓😂 it sound so good I play the baritone
dab
i cried
Allen, it sounded to me like you played the third phrase as quarter notes rather than 8th notes as you instructed everyone to play. Evening out the rhythm doesn't mean that you have to slow it down. And since you're trying to communicate the best and most proper way to play taps, I have a few things to add: The the last note of every phrase should fade (decrescendo) in volume without allowing the pitch to go sharp, of course. Your notes came to kind of an abrupt end which is kind of out-of-character for the nature of this music. Also, you didn't really pause long enough before the C-E-G phase. Taps is something that should not be rushed, regardless of the anxiety or emotional state of the player. You didn't use a heavy vibrato, which is good, and I know that this is controversial, but I think that vibrato is also out-of-character for this composition. It's a very somber and ceremonial type of music thus shouldn't be overly stylized with vibrato. It's a funeral, not a jazz solo. IMO, the less vibrato, the better. And on the very last note, I try to milk that thing, in other words, decrescendo very slowly all the way down to nothing. It takes a good set of chops and good control of the horn (which not many people have) to do that, but if capable, the fade out should be used. Those are my two cents.
I was there that day as a customer XD.
Yesss mr.v swag - malak and marlee
Hi me autumn
