LeftCoast Stories - Reflecting on a Decade
As our 10th birthday year comes to an end, we wanted to celebrate by reflecting on the past decade.
We worked with Nathan Parker, Parker Words, to create a poem that encapsulates the very essence of LeftCoast - taking a look at where we are now, where we’ve been, and where we are heading.
The poem was written through conversations with participants, volunteers, artists, collaborators, and the LeftCoast team, both past and present.
We then sourced footage from deep within the LeftCoast archive and worked with Huckleberry Films to showcase everything from our spectacular shows to our smaller neighbourhood work.
Thank you to everyone who has documented and captured LeftCoast throughout the years. We cannot wait to see where the next decade will take us…

Poignant....
Blackpool arts council were very remiss to allow this annual boost to the resort out of season to disappear. It used to bring an enormous extra revenue each year. There is no reason to go and stay there now for me.
I often wonder why Blackpool decided to cancel the showzam festival. I used to go for a week and spend money on what was the most busiest entertainment event of the year.

Wonderful memorial but they aren’t soldiers
we know that...still raising awareness...
even thou, maybe some of them represented their ancestors who fought in that bloody battle of the Somme.
So? it's still nice regardless
Of course they weren't. Its was a national theatre production and they were unpaid volunteers wanting to be involved. Don't belittle their contribution to the memorial by such an obvious and quite pointless comment.
They represent the normal people who fought in the Great War, it could be a shop keep, teacher or factory worker. The men that served were all just normal people from different walks of life, just like the people who volunteered to represent them here.
