Great layout. Only thing I would change is the orientation of the chairs. For behaviour management and good classroom flow, I was always told to never place seats with their backs to the board. It matters less in Kindergarten, but I would still swap out the rectangular table or turn it 90 degrees so children are side on to the board, and turn to round tables a fraction. Good luck this year!

I'm going into my 7th year teaching Kindergarten and it took me forever to figure out what I was comfortable with in terms of flexible seating. I don't use assigned seats at all anymore and we start having conversations about what we need as learners on the first day of school as we learn general expectations. If you are feeling overwhelmed by it, I would start with assigned table spots (I think the stools will be fine as long as all kids get an opportunity to try them out) and then move to flexible seating when you are ready. There's no right or wrong way, it's just whatever is best for you! Good luck, your room looks great!

Your classroom is looking amazing! I love how calming the colors are, but it’s also fun for littles because of the rainbows and fun prints. Also I would personally wait to use flex seating. Like you said, they will probably complain/fight over the stools so I’d wait until you have more options.

Nice setup, beautiful room! How many students will you have (ballpark)? Seems like a big class! I started with flex seating being stools, chairs, and floor seating…. All things they have been exposed to in their home environments and it worked great!

Yes! I love that you put the number line at their level. They can actually use it as a strategy this way if they need it.

If I were you, I'd make use of the edge between your carpet floor and your vinyl floor... I'd put the shelves on the edge in the corner, two on the left, two on the back. That way you have an extra corner + you have another free corner, in which you could create a play area, or put your group table to have an overview! Also I'd put the calm corner somewhere separate, where not kid usually comes because it has all my stuff, so kids sitting there won't be interrupted. Hope it helps! :)

Where did you get your totes for your library?

Hi! Everything is looking great! I love your decor and your kitchen turned out so cute! Just a thought with the library though....if you are going to use your table (by the window) for small groups, you might want to move those bookshelves with the back facing your table. Coming from many (many!) years of experience, you might get a few little friends who could cause some issues if they think you can't see them when they are in the library! :) What about making an L shape with the two that are already against the wall and putting them where you first had your chair? Just something to think about...

Love IKEA! You picked up some great items for your classroom. Another great place to get a set of “play” dishes is Walmart. They always have sets of kid’s dishes in different bright or pastels that are inexpensive and cute. ☺️🍎☺️
