I can add some things here you forgot but that are note worthy. Bmw tried to put a v8 in the e36 body also but didn't succeed, Alpina as seen here did but like you said needed 42 adaptations on the chassis. Alpina had to put the engine in from the top rather than from the bottom. The engine is also much much lower in the engine bay than the m3's so they had to make a new sump for it. The engine also comes standard with mahle pistons with higher compression rate being the reason why so much torque is already available at such low rpm's.

I was the guy who found out about the Fiat Ducato brake pads. But just go with the EBC Yellowstuff ones, they are way superior to the original brake pads.

Nice! it looks like the previous owner retrofitted the M3 oilcooler kit with the custom oil lines. I got the same kit installed in my Coupe.

Great video! Did you import the Alpina under the BMW VIN or Alpina VIN? I plan on using the 25 year rule as well for mine, but there is no BMW or Alpina sticker on door jam with build date like US BMW cars have. The strut tower has both VINs and the BMW VIN shows a build month/year (Alpina VIN search has nothing). Would that be enough for proof for 25 year entry? Registration documents are months after build and would like to avoid storing the car for 4+ more months when it was sold and then registered.

I have been doing a lot of research on bring a car over to the US from Germany. I have found there is not a lot of good info out there. I am in a very similar situation. I used to live in Germany and I am looking to bring a E36 wagon back to PA. Thank you for putting out a good video.

Wow, this car is so cool! Alpina did an amazing job fitting the V8 in there. I have an E39 Touring and that engine looks quite big even in a 5 series =) BTW, "mostly stock" is also my motto!

Great Video Dr. The B8 is the peak off from car engineering in the 90‘s ! This is a piece of art with a V8 that has stunning performance as well ! Fuel consumption not bad either ! I own a E36 Alpina B3 3,0l Coupé - Stick !!! It’s a mad Maschine and also drives sooo well ! I get 28 mpg and I’m not sleepy driving ! From the engineering point of view , were the M50 with Alpina Mods , such as Pistons and Combustion chambers , the state of the art ! Those are German build Hemi - engines ! Super power super efficient!! By the way the E36 M3 3,0l Is not as agile and handy to drive ! The B3 outperforms the M3 in any point ! Topspeed almost identical , cause M3 has 200 revs more !! The M3 just sold better in Germany cause of the overall noise it’s producing , inkl the intake and exhaust noise . With the B3 , you need to spec your exhaust a little bit , but than it even sounds more rad and fat than the M3 ! Or lets say , it’s just different but also has a very satisfying noise to Motorsport ears !! Greets from Germany 🇩🇪 Mr . T.

after lookin at many Alpina cars and being the over on on of the company products I'm pretty sure this is my dream car. whatever shape it could be. Pure V8 with manual as an only option. In my opinion the most iconic alpina of 90s. I glad that you're such a huge fan of these and cars are being driven and can be seen on the streets in daily trafic. Huge respect mate. Depo head lights are more reliable if it comes to the gasket. That might be the reason it's been swapped. I'd like to put your video on my channel if you don't mind. There will be of course link for connection with yours. Keep up good uploads. ❤ BTW: don't worry about car's bad history, most of them on the market has something hidden but the owner don't want to talk about that. As long as it been repaired in professional way it's still valuable car increasing on the value.

The Dutch dealership is 5 minutes from my house. I visit often, just to drool over all the 80's Alpina's and BMW's. Cyril is one of the nicest guys, and always takes time to show you around the cars.
