On this team and can confirm we run the 208

i don't know how their accumulator looks in particular, but Formula Student cars typically use 4 or 5 cells in parallel, making the average ~70 A draw negligable for the cells. the small heating only needs a relatively small air current to be exhausted out, in comparison to water cooling systems used in BEV road vehicles. our accumulator's weak point is also the Nickel 201 busbar which has such bad conductivity that the bus bars (probably) contribute to heating even more than the cells internal resistance does.

i thought the same its defiantly hitting the limiter but their speed is decreasing. went from 58 to 54. must have jumped out for some reason

Hey goodtime2344, I am unsure of what you mean by a control box in this case, but the current shown is the output of our high voltage accumulator (battery). This then goes through an inverter (converts the DC current to 3-phase AC), which spins our motor :)

Our drivers would agree that it's awesome to drive, as well as that it could have been faster. Since this was our first ever driving EV that we didn't have working until a day before we left for competition, we had almost no time to test the vehicle, let alone do driver training. This was this drivers first time driving the vehicle in more than a straight line, it's amazing he was able to put up the time he did despite this.

@@gophermotorsports2153 wow! Love the background info. That is really incredible he could run fast at all! You can tell it accelerates and stops on a dime. Keep up the great work! I’m old school for gas power but I could get down with these things

@@gophermotorsports2153 I'm unsure about FSAE but here in the UK it's very common for first-year EV teams not to pass scrutineering or even turn a wheel on circuit. Very impressive to see a first-year EV team get the car going, and going very quickly might I add.

Nope, all the water in our cooling system was confirmed to be gone after we checked it over, it's impressive it was still running but her engine needs a good rebuild before she can run again

The sensor is actually head temp in the metal and not water. We’re still shocked it didn’t violently explode though.

A hose came loose unfortunately. Prior to endurance the cooling system was vacuum tested with no leaks and all hose clamps were tight. We saw temp and pump current fluctuations in the data, so it is believed there was an air pocket, the system built up excess pressure, and eventually the line came off.
