I love all the songs but...."Never forget You" that has me in a chokehold. Also Flashback needs more love. I feel like we moved on from it too quickly. Everyone was shouting out "Name" and "Gold" but there was something about "Dragon" that made me comeback and look up the actual lyrics. And ...Dragon was a foretelling of their rebirth. So...yeah, I do like all of Flashback as well but "Dragon" is special.

This video hit the hammer on the head for me as a newer iKONIC (I fell into iKONIC life somewhere post Dive but a bit before Kingdom started). I am new but I definitely am the person to do deep research. iKON's story is particularly tragic because the scandals (B.I. but also back lash from Burning Sun, and the alleged YG coverup) kept ricocheting right as they were on the precipe of making a truly global debut. They were right there with top groups like BTS, Black Pink, and Monsta-X who more or less started entering the Western market at the same time. They had just been in the midst of there first and last performance in America. So, yeah....there is so much that could have been. iKON's music quality has not dropped post-Hanbin. Stylistically, iKON's music is actually not all that different now, they just lean more into the ballad/pop side as they have gotten a bit older. So called fans, former fans, and solo stans really like to perpetuate the notion that iKON has fallen off musically because they haven't released a strong hiphop (with strong choreography) focused song since B.I. Truth is.....iKON made their public reputation from the strong hiphip focus, but their entire discography has always been mixed genre with more pop and rock influences. Their whole discography, such as it is, seriously full of amazing B-sides that could have equally been title tracks. They have moved anywhere from hiphop to almost folk (see some of the collaborative stages/variety show performances of Bobby and JuNe especially). Yes, B.I. is an amazing writer. In iKON he was the best at writing for the entire group, with a lot of support from Bobby. For some reason....there is a persistent myth that Bobby is "lazy." I also agree that YG suppressed a lot of the promotional potential of iKON post Love Scenario, and even more after the B.I. scandal. I think moving as a group gets them into a healthier environment where they can finally grow as artists.

I think that YG just didn't know how to really do good marketing ,especially once they were starting to get more renowned. They just kind of let them falter once they sent them out. They really just were spending most of their money and time on the 1 or 2 groups that were bringing in money(iKON had a big impact and fans in Japan where fans will spend/support big money on their favorite groups-hence limiting them in Asia(ie mostly Japan). Agree on the BI/iKON statements. I think they are all trying their best to establish themselves(SK netizens still hold BI in contempt-it all started with his father's activities which affected much of his younger years)and iKON wouldn't be able to promote well in SKs TV programs as some stations had banned BI. I still believe there is a strong bond between BI and them but I think it is done on the down low and sporadically,as they are all so busy with their ventures. I too will support BI(he is too talented to ignore) and iKON as OT7(in honor of their early years together and potential for their hopefully,in the far future,collaboration of some kind)/ OT6/ID-solo,sub unit,group. These talented individuals deserve more world wide recognition and I will be there to support them in their endeavors. Thank you for your post. Subscribed.

I really enjoyed this. You did so well in expressing your opinion and thoughts regarding the past, present, and future of iKON. I agree with many of your points and even discovered a few I didn’t even think of. The newer songs have given me a greater appreciation for DK, Song and Chanwoo and how talented they are. Not they weren’t before but I think we are all aware of how many companies push certain members forward in both music and variety whilst others get fewer opportunities. This can put so much pressure on a few and feelings of inadequacy or even resentment for others. We already know this is why many western bands can break up. I really hope they do well and will try to see them in person someday. I also hope they don’t go from one end to the other while promoting. From YG’s once every 2 years to 4-5 times per year like a lot of these 4th gen group seem to do. Well, fingers crossed iKONICs! If anyone knows where I can get a legit Konbat that would be awesome. 😊 I’m not sure about most internet sites but I can wait until I’m sure iKON gets my money and not some skeevy rip-off site.
