Went to West Hollywood during my layover in Los Angeles. My heart is out to all the residents and people of Los Angeles. I left California on Jan 7 before the devastating fires and destruction. Beautiful city and beautiful people. Hugs to all who call LA home. As a biracial gay man, I felt very safe and accepted in California and West Hollywood was no exception.

Under the J Mart Grocery store in Flushing, Queens, NY is a fabulous food court filled with all kinds of foods and desserts. Affordable and authentic, it is one of the best places to eat in NYC.

Two weeks ago, I went to the London Southbank Christmas market. It was less crowded than the other Christmas markets and you can actually sit down and eat and drink.

I went for a walk along the Southbank and River Thames in London recently. I was especially moved by the memorial to the victims of the Covid pandemic. The lights were also beautiful.

I recently had a fabulous layover in Paris so I took the opportunity to go to the Christmas Market at the Tuileries Garden. I bought hot chocolate and after walking through the park, sat at a bench and admired the view. I also walked along Rue Rivoli before taking the metro back to my hotel.

Town of Windsor,England

I went to the town of Windsor, England on one of my London layovers, not realizing the castle wasn't opened everyday. However, the town of Windsor is charming and accessible. I had Chinese food for lunch and stopped on the way back to the train station for tea at a pub.

Went to 2 Christmas Markets in London. Trafalgar Square followed by Covent Garden which was bigger and with more shopping. Definitely recommend Covent Garden if you can only do one Christmas Market.

Abba Voyage

As a huge Abba fan, I finally made it to the Abba Voyage show in London. Amazing doesn't even describe it. I've been a fan since the age of 12 when I received my first Abba cassette tape, Voulez Vous. It's an amazing show of lights, holograms, and the greatest hits. Not allowed to film anything once the show starts so you have to be there!

I booked a tour on Viator recently during my layover in Madrid and had a fabulous time. The Royal Palace is breathtaking and our tour guide, Beatrice, was fabulous.

I went to Buckingham Palace and walked around the area. Cute shops and Harry Potter fans, there's a shop with wizardry literally across the street. Enjoy!

I explored SOHO in London on one of my layovers and stumbled on Liberty, an old department store housed in a Tudor style building, replete with wooden stairs and medieval charm. The Christmas Store is on the 4th floor.

London Chinatown

On my last two London layovers in October, I decided to walk around Chinatown and the Theater District which are next to each other. So many restaurants and as a book lover, I couldn't resist the used bookstores near the Piccadilly Tube station which is where I got off and walked to Chinatown. And the restaurants! Can't wait to try all of them.

Avalon River Cruise Part 2.

Now we start the river portion of our vacation with Avalon cruises. Frankfurt to Basel with stops in Strasbourg, Colmar, and then Basel. We had one day of sailing and going through the locks.
