Ive been doing that type of break like SVB where i start standing once my break cue is pulled all the way back and i swing it for the break and i get a good spreaded layout .

Good video. Has Anyone ever get a reason for his soft break? Maybe that’s why they don’t allow it in pro tournaments anymore as Corey Deul was using it and this was recorded 10 years about the same time. And that would make sense as to why he racked the 2 & 3 ball in second row 95% of the time to give him those 2 advantages which aren’t allowed in pro play. He’s a great player. Rack 13 on he got in the flow, such a great feeling and fun to watch which is another thing the pro tournaments got rid of with the alternate break. People loved to watch multiple runouts and so did us players

I used to play with Efren back in the late 80’s at Hard Times along with other greats. I was very lucky and learned a lot from the best guys including Strickland, Bustamonte, local favs like Hawaiian Jimmy etc. I still own the Joss and custom cue I had made for me by Al Romero. A lot of great memories from that place. Here, Efren is actually shooting with my Joss Cue. You can hear the sound a typical Joss with an ivory ferrule makes after harder shots. Absolute music to the ear.

Drama: While there was a little drama in this last game, there were really no other incidents in which the guys had disagreements throughout the 7 hour match ... I had a little over $5,000 on it personally, and if I'm not mistaken, Gary had also bet $5k - $10k (I can't recall how much each person's was, but in aggregate I think it was about $15k). The bank Santos almost made @13:27 (dodging traffic and avoiding the balls on Johns side) was both a spectacular shot and was rather unfortunate; freezing didn't matter much, but freezing such that it could be pocketed while allowing John to simply pocket the ball Santos gagged was a bad roll for Santos ... and was just a phenomenal shot, no matter who you're rooting for. *Double-Hit Disagreement* Though both players agreed to review the video, I knew watching it on a camcorder's 2.5" LCD wasn't going to provide adequate clarity for either player's beliefs (and I said as much at the time). I'd actually forgotten about the double hit drama until I was reviewing it to add the ball-scores for you guys. Believe it or not however, (and before John call foul in the video) I both thought the hit looked suspicious but more importantly, instantly thought I'd heard the double click. Of course, my opinion is worthless, as I was betting on John and was thus an "interested" party, and no one is immune from confirmation bias. I think 25% playback speed is most indicative. Ultimately, the camera's furthest from the back corner, and it doesn't have a high-end mic attached and sounds like it added an effect of "reverb" when I slowed it down. However, I have the luxury of a second audio source which I originally planned to sync up: A Zoom recorder mounted directly over the table. I didn't add that audio ultimately because the model Zoom I used doesn't use SMPTE TimeCode, but instead defines a second based on the sample rate. Thus, it's constantly drifting in 3.5GB increments (across the 7-hour recording) ... and thus would've required multiple re-syncing iterations which was so time consuming that despite wanting to do it, I never did. Eventually I'll buy an SMPTE TimeCode model though. In listening to the Zoom recorder's audio of that hit however, it's completely obvious that it's a double hit ... to my "confirmation biased" ears. 🙂 I don't doubt Santos believed the hit was good, and could very well have been intellectually honest in his claim. And, even if he wasn't 100% sure, there's an argument to be made for defending your backer's money like attorneys do; irrespective of the facts, to the benefit of their client.
