Speed Painting, Delivering Art, September Check-In
Heya,
I hope you all have been well, enjoying the end of Summer and all.
It's been a bit of a whirlwind these last few days, as it seems, a few projects all came together at the same time: delivering art to a pop up art show, installing work in a shop, delivering to a group show a couple hours away, and some woodworking to make it all happen - always fun seeing how we juggle everything just so. Excited to have more art in the world.
Have been making time to rest and recover in the mists of all the activity and I hope you have too.
Looking forward to what's in store next.

Using a speedball roller can be useful for pushing out all of the air bubbles when adhering paper to panel

It is best not to put pressure on ourselves, as we need to let it happen, as trying to make it happen, for me, is never as good. It is amazing how freeing using a sketchbook, scrap of paper or whatever is, it does help to stay loose, for me it is often difficult to feel that when using a prepared canvas etc. All the best.

Hi Nell! I used Heavy Weight Strathmore paper, Mixed Media or Bristol paper and mount with Matte Medium. I will be day dreaming of your winter solstice weather ; )

No, these trees are based on Bald Cypress trees around the Guadalupe River in South Texas :)

Love your videos Andrea. You're a breath of fresh air. Your drawings of birds are really beautiful as are your tree paintings. When you stick your paper to board, do you use a gel medium and if so, do you use the same medium over the top of the painting? I've seen others do it this way, and I'm trying to figure out the way that suits me. I'd much prefer to use paper over canvas. Hope you're having a lovely week x Nell.
Thanks so much. When adhering the paper works to wood I use matte medium, it’s strong, archival, and of any seeps out it’s easy to fix.
