The Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) conducts research on the conditions for peaceful relations between states, groups and people.
Researchers at PRIO seek to understand the processes that bring societies together or split them apart. We explore how conflicts erupt and how they can be resolved; we investigate how different kinds of violence affect people; and we examine how societies tackle crises - and the threat of crisis. We document general trends, seek to understand processes, and inform concrete responses.

What ? You obviously think mainstream media is unbiased and truthful ? 😂
What's the alternative which is more truthful and unbiased? Fox News? (Although Fox News is now practically one of the mainstream media because it is watched by so many people. Perhaps the NYT and WP and LAT should be called "legacy media".)
Peace Mediations in different languages means differently.Independence Diplomacy in the peace process.Trust building, Advocacy and training, capacity building and democracy promotion.Funding from development sources but not from political processes.Confidential aspect must be confidentiality.Benefit is the aspect.Lots of credibility issues at stake.Confidentiality during the pre talk by convincing the parties.Formal negotiation process.Comprehensive process.Regional or political process,it can be human rights processes, international relations and Diplomats. How to justify inclusion, how to justify academic research.Engagement and idealism of people,Open Budget, Collaboration of government and civil society organizations, promoting social movement and winning of the younger people is very crucial.
Using the number 43,000 in regards to people died in Gaza without mantioning that it has been provided by Hamas which is a recognized terrorist organization that started this war by raping butchering and kidnapping people in their homes, is just spreading fake news that help the sociopathic aggressor claim to be the victim. Its like ISIS while being bombed claiming that the bombs are killing thousands of babies and puppies. Innocents die in every war but the numbers aren't 1 Hamas terrorists to a hundred of innocent civilians as Hamas claims.
It's devastating to see how people keep putting so much faith in institutions just beacsuse what they claim to do even when they have been deeply corrupted and infiltrated by people that want to see the world burn. Unrwa with its 30000 workers, the organization that gets billions of dollars from the world and claims to help the Palestinian refugees, is regarded by many as the biggest funder of terrorism and money laundering in the world. You can say alligations as much as you want but those UNRWA teachers from Gaza found with guns on Israeli territory amongst hundreads of bodies of children man and women tells us what they were teaching in those UNRWA schools. Also "journalists" that came along to film the massacre on October 7th and then returned to Gaza with the kidnapped Israelis the youngest of which was a 4 month baby. But no mention of this or jourbalistic standards what so ever. If you killed and raped but work as a journalist you will be counted as a journalist that died because of a democratic crisis. Not even starting to talk about the UN where Iran can be the head of the human rights committee and Russia the head of the Defense and world safetey committee. People should put effort in helping those who actually do something to provide peace and not those who just take money and claim to do so.
The Christian west with its Israeli allies have brought the world nothing but war and oppression just look at history.
A gun is a device designed to propel a projectile using pressure or explosive force.[1][2] The projectiles are typically solid, but can also be pressurized liquid (e.g. in water guns/cannons), or gas (e.g. light-gas gun). Solid projectiles may be free-flying (as with bullets and artillery shells) or tethered (as with Tasers, spearguns and harpoon guns). A large-caliber gun is also called a cannon. SIG Pro semi-automatic pistol Battleship USS Iowa fires a full broadside from its nine sixteen-inch naval guns The means of projectile propulsion vary according to designs, but are traditionally effected pneumatically by a high gas pressure contained within a barrel tube (gun barrel), produced either through the rapid exothermic combustion of propellants (as with firearms), or by mechanical compression (as with air guns). The high-pressure gas is introduced behind the projectile, pushing and accelerating it down the length of the tube, imparting sufficient launch velocity to sustain its further travel towards the target once the propelling gas ceases acting upon it after it exits the muzzle. Alternatively, new-concept linear motor weapons may employ an electromagnetic field to achieve acceleration, in which case the barrel may be substituted by guide rails (as in railguns) or wrapped with magnetic coils (as in coilguns). The first devices identified as guns or proto-guns appeared in China from around AD 1000.[3] By the end of the 13th century, they had become "true guns", metal barrel firearms that fired single projectiles which occluded the barrel.[4][5] Gunpowder and gun technology spread throughout Eurasia during the 14th century

For how long can you be a refuge in your own country. For me it sounds like paresites. When will you start growing infrastructure and development. Depending on aid for the rest of your life is unexceptible.Grow up. Make the right choice. Don't blame the world for your miserable decisions. Please make the right choice. Grow up.
Close UNWRA down.

Cant stand this mans cadence. Jordan peterson wannabe sounding ass
"it's not known if he actually killed anybody, but there was that bombing incident..." Come on, my guy. Wassamattawichoo?
LOUDER!
A huge part of negotiation is understanding the history (especially the emotional history) behind the party you are dealing with. That said, anyone dealing with foreign leaders should read Iron Curtain Over America by Beaty and The Nake Communist by Skousen to better understand actual history, and America's relationship with certain countries today. Prior to the early 1900's we had excellent relations with the Muslim world. Sometimes the devil tricks you into believing the other guy is the devil.
Check out Abrahamic Reunion...this organization brings together the four main faith groups in Israel/Palestine, feeds them, and gets them to talk to each other...across the food table. Peace, Peace, Peace.
Can you share the ppt or where we can find the presentation? Thanks in advance
Justice is not backwards looking, It's forward looking. You look at what the deal is. And if you bargain with the devil, it will be an unfair deal. Because the devil is not interested in your side of the deal but only wants to get the most out of it for himself.
Anyone got a source list for this lecture? No idea how to search for it.
conspiracy theorists don't have to provide sources
You lost me when you started defining evil and evil acts. Your definition seems way too subjective and biased.
I was about to buy his book and found this video. Now I wonder how relevant the book is.
Same
The general principles are good. I have a problem with his list of "evil". Isn't evil sometimes (not always!!!) relative? If the U.S. supports repressive regimes and then finds itself subject to retaliation bombing, is the bomber evil? There are purely evil regimes like North Korea. But I'm not so clear about Hamas. Back in the day, the PLO were the bad guys. Now, PLO is the good guys and Hamas is evil. The U.S. has killed an estimated 1 million civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq. Is the U.S. evil? What do you think?
This nigga straight lying
Absolutely riveting #ProfessorMnookin, thank you! I’m going to purchase your book and figure out how to apply it to the high conflict and terribly complex family law case at hand.
He is not a very good presenter.
That is true for so many writers and researchers. Many Moses's need their Aaron's.
indeed Dr luka u did ur part as well on behalf of south sudan
if anyone cant sleep at night im going to link them this video
Islamism comes clean
Thanks for sharing as the scholar divided the CNN effects in two different eras that is earlier 2000 and post 2000 effects however I suggest that we should also do a research in the perspective of 3rd world countries wherein only 2% of the population can understand English and other non-native languages. I am thinking to do my MS research on the same topic and obviously I need your guidance and support in this regard. Please send me your useful suggestion at journalist.aftab@gmail.com
i'm going to dislike this because my teacher is slowly killing me with this video.
Great presenter and Great book and great Idea ........ I like it so much
To my knowledge Benjamin Franklin never throw a punch in the revolutionary war. Still his powers of negotiation were invaluable to the credibility abroad of an emerging nation. Likewise, Nelson Mandela defended a people's majority voice (and interests), and not merely his own. .
Negotiations are always a reciprocal enterprise and therefore results can never be a predetermined outcome. Mr Mnookin makes some sweeping statements which suggest ideological and political bias is inescapable.. But how can in the business of conflict resolution anyone who is a human being not hold strong beliefs.. That said, the work here holds sufficient merit. I find that Mnookin has to be credited with opening a worthwhile dialogue. He facilitates well. interest based negotiation is sound principled guiding structure and seems to me to be a legitimate endeavor.. After all to deny it seems to be to endorse idea that we should live without a code. To subscribe to that nonsense would be to reduce ourselves to formless jellyfish.

Somalia was without central government for the last 2 decades and yet the future seems to be promised the worst. When are we dislodging the word tribolism?
why
Focusing on the present and future and not justice, which is backward looking. Excellent, but difficult, recommendation. Focusing on costs and benefits and rising above (or regulating) emotions, always excellent, but challenging advice.
wat a stupid nonsense trash talk
Friend, I don't think you can appreciate fully the implications of leaders like Churchill and Mandela, and I mean they're not THAT great of heroes. Churchil didn't negotiate, yes, but he's not the one who got bombed, not personally at least. It was The British people who died, because of his pride and at the end victory came from the allied forces, NOT the British. As for Mandella, 20 years had gone down the drain. What gives to negotiate violence or not. He was for violence, not very original

No wonder "religious" terrorists love these guys.
21:00 I knew he was going to cite Robert Pape of religion has nothing to do with any terrorism at all fame.
gigity....
this is probably the most blunt and descriptive dialog ive seen on the current state of afghanistan. What more empowers his argument is the lack of views on this page (14). I, personally, appreciate this work.
Astri Suhrke is the last presenter on this panel. Please listen to her comments and my comments will make sense --- You (Astri Suhrke) are a failure and a disgrace to descent human beings everywhere, you should be ashamed of yourself. You (Astri) have no place to be talking about Afghanistan. The reason that Afghanistan is so F*cked up right now is because 90% of those western aid workers used to work in Africa and now work in Afghanistan. These crooked aid workers have looted Africa.
