This channel shows our Journey into Homesteading while navigating the joys and difficulties of raising a special family of six. We struggle with the daily life of teaching our oldest two children who are typically developing how to balance school, home, and farm chores, but also we struggle with the daily challenges raising of our youngest two children diagnosed with Special needs (Allan-Herndon-Dudley Syndrome).

Composting With Chickens

Compost can be very helpful as an additive to the garden. There's different methods of arriving at compost from regular everyday used organic matter like our food. We had to take the large bushes away so that we could take a look at our foundation. Those shrubs were pushing on the bricks and deforming everything. We had a good use for our new tractor. Are those rhode island rocks? I see a lot of head shaking and scratching. Have to wonder if they did't somehow rile up a bunch of ants with all that foraging. LOL Reminds me of being a kid again on the farm. Thanks for sharing
Most of them are pure Barred-rocks but there is one in that group, the rooster, that is a combination of Domique and Rhode Island Red.

we had 3 roosters then and they were grown to adulthood and then prepared for meals
Instead of spreading it out make piles ... And let the chickens do the work of spreading it out
