February 2025 Update - turns out if you have the Generatepress Premium plugin (which I would thoroughly recommend). If you are bright enough to notice (unlike me) there is in the 2.5 version which came out summer 2024, there is a font library. This make installing a Google Font locally a breeze. To activate it go to Appearance > GeneratePress > Modules > Font Library > Activate February 2025 - the big themes are here but the screenshots have changed a fair bit. i have managed to achieve my goal of installing the Google font locally - and I would not have achieved that without this video - massive thanks Leo. It might help some people if you re-recorded this video in 2025 you need to understand the big ideas in this so you adapt them to the current design of Generatepress.

I tested the function 3 times, usually it starts to give me problems with diacritics. I also don't know if I have to disable Google fonts loading in the settings if I install a local font.

I don't see a number of these options, like switching the Header to Paragraph, or selecting dynamic option for a paragraph block (min 4:10). I am using GP 2.5, does it feature less of these buttons?

There's a lot of awesomeness, thank you! What's still not awesome is the lack of styleguides, and variables still not really embraced. So setting up typography is still a major pain.

I just tried this, followed it step by step, but my archive pages are staying the same, the new template is not applied. There must be a condition, or something overriding the new template. Any ideas? EDIT: I found that for category archive pages it works, but not for custom post types. Unless when REST API is active, for ACF.

How do you set the System Default font? And where are those variables set (--gp-font-primary)?

It's great but the earlier effects menu was better as we could select the target of the effect as well. Now it's kind of tricky to let's say make the featured image zoom when hovered on the card of query loop. Is there a way to fix it?

Hey, this looks great. There's one issue though, with the previous version of query loop, I could add the article link to the whole container which means wherever you click on the card, it takes you to the post. Now, I think you can only add link to the titles, and readmore and images. Am I missing something?

Love what you guys did with Queries, but one thing I noticed an issue, When using containers, if you try to do let's say post-{{loop_index}} or use loop_item:key it just doesn't work, which wouldn't be a big deal if post_id was present on the post. Let me know if this is a planned changed or intentional.

This looks great. However I worry about grid block being lost. Specifically if one used "generateblocks_query_loop_args" filter to modify query args array. For this we used to use grid block to contain the class that would help identify the query we want to modify. If this block is removed how will we be able to do this in the future? Also how will we migrate these old sites to new blocks without messing up queries?

Can you use variables instead of static values? E.g. var(--my-gap) instead of 1rem

I've been working with the alpha for a few days now and I have to say: hats off! At first I was worried because I (still) don't know how to convert all the blocks from v1 to v2. But the advantages of v2 clearly outweigh the disadvantages! It's a great tool! Thank you!

Hi Jonathan, thanks for sharing these tips. I had not noticed the ability to mark parts of a page Article or Section - Schema - I use the Yoast plugin and that does create some schema and I like to use the Breadcrumbs - if you have any tips or thoughts on Schema and Breadcrumbs that would be very interesting.

Forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere. Is GenerateBlocks 2.0 compatible with sites which are using 1.71? I.e. is this only aimed at new sites.

How to link a category with several articles to a block? I've seen many videos but none explaining this. The blocks on the Home page all have the same content. There should be a way to organize them with categories. Could you tell me if there's a way to do this?
