Test flight of NOVAerial Robotics Procyon 800E in operation with a towed magnetometer bird used for mineral exploration. The magnetometer is extremely sensitive, so it is required to be hung from the UAV to avoid interference. The bird is designed to be aerodynamically stable at the cruise speed of the helicopter. The Procyon Helicopter Drone is the ideal UAV for this type of process, as it has...

I have been waiting for some high winds, 50-80km to do some demonstrations of the wind tolerance of the Procyon helicopter. But it just hasn't happened yet. So in the meantime, here's some "moderate" wind testing in 30-50km/h winds. This condition would ground many UAV's. The wait for high winds continues...

Hi I am more into scale models rather than acro type . is it possible to use pixhawk cube to control a flybarless head instead of a dedicated gyro. I am thinking of flying auto missions using Arducopter heli with a four blade rotor.

Great Video Robert, can you help with this issue? Using mission planner, After completing swash set up a final check revealed that when tilting the heli fwd and aft and left and right the swash is not correcting pitch and roll in the correct direction, no matter what i try i cannot correct this problem! Is there a setting in Mission Planner that i have missed? If i set the collective setting at ccpm settings 12&3 to normal the collective works in reverse and pitch and roll corrections are correct so then i have to turn the blade grips over and all works as advertised and i have flown the model successfully! This model is a Blade 270 with 120 degree ccpm set to 0 +120 and -120.the same lay out as your Goblin can you please advise. I see other people have had the same problem!

I was wondering if the extreme changes in the motor current might be causing the toilet bowling when under less severe conditions it would be fine with that tune? Also has anyone tried twisting the high current wires so that as much of their magnetic fields cancel as possible?

However, due to vibration, the helicopter strikes up and down in Position Hold mode. Perhaps it is because the vibration is transmitted to the F / C. How did you resolve the vibration? Please help me.

I kind of believe this is genuine auto navigation. The 2 mission runs have identical turn curves and the same slight twitch at the near end when it reaches end point. Humans don't do that.

Love it. I am thinking about doing this on the cheap, with some wltoys 200 sized hardware. The good electronic/software should compensate the hardware weakness. But I don't know I have the time to commit to this. I already paid for a APM sonar by MaxBotix.

Superb job Rob, I really like the way you take the most extreme weather conditions and demonstrate flawless operation in those. I am happy to get acceptable results in perfect weather conditions. My cat, "Tigger" spent the whole video trying to bat your Heli off the screen and even went behind it to see if it was there. The shot of you walking back with it really puts the impressive scale into perspective as well. One small thought, it might be worthwhile to implement the yaw into the wind capability as an option for landing, I know Andrew has it for plane and Multi now. Not that your copter seems to care. You have built a dynamite fully functional industrial quality drone and I wish you all the success in the world. On my front, finally finished with shop except for a little exterior stuff to do when the weather gets better, so moving in tools now. Best regards as always, 'Gary

I am actually reviewing documents in ardupilot.org and come across with following recommendation in ardupilot.org/copter/docs/safety-multicopter.html ... copy/paste below. "Do not attempt to fly longer than your battery’s safe capacity, it is very bad for the battery and can cause a crash."
